Another thing to note is that armour actually LOSES effectiveness as the damage of hits goes up. So a 20k hit gets through MORE when relying on armour than a 2k hit proportionally would, besides ofc having more damage left over after reduction. Whereas Guises' damage reduction is flat - it ALWAYS mitigates that percentage of the damage no matter the size of the hit, just like resistances do.
Man just found your channel a few weeks back and man... This kind of content is the most interesting thing a PoE player can offer! Keep this amazing job and amazing comparisons! Congraats from Brazil
The 10% regeneration can be converted into damage through Rage using Kaom's Spirit and life-stacking. 10k life would be 10 rage per second. This seems like a really good Rage Vortex armour.
also can use the es mastery 10% less phys dmg taken while on full energy shield with divine flesh + doppelganger. Divine flesh causes all damage to bypasses es, so you're always at full es
This is true, though I think most builds will use EB to make use of the ES with Divine Blessing and solving mana, but if you don't use EB then that mastery is very good
Unless you're using Eldritch Battery, which I wouldn't dream of using divine flesh without taking the opportunity to reserve all of my mana with no downside.
@@bobbermcbobbing6743 I think having no resource means you are never considered to be low or full of that resource. I suspect transcendence + loreweave still beats that out with Eternal Damnation for defence. You become invulnerable to every uber attack (except for Eater's Inescapable Doom blast because that just kills you and doesn't do damage).
@@Sidnv the thing with transcendance set up is that its really costly in the budget side since you need to convert almost all your phy to elemental damage .
@@theannoyer2953 Yeah, it takes a lot of investment. I did this last league with Pathfinder, using 18% from the helmet, 23% from Taste of Hate, 28% from Dawnbreaker via double corruption and 24% from Purity of elements watcher's eye. 93% phys conversion was enough to tank uber maven memory game and uber sirus meteor, but it took a lot of investment to get there.
I used this on a Chaos Dot Hexblast Occultist build, one league before they reworked the skill. I've rarely felt this tanky, had max Chaos Res at 88 if I recall - this was a build I pushed to the maximum and was top ladder for Hexblast in LoK with it. Nice to see this pop-up in my recommendations.
As a divergent boneshatter player, I used this until untiring became a thing. We no longer really needed the damage mitigation from the guise unless you're more on a budget I'd like to think, but rares end up surpassing this (not in physical mitigation obviously). We typically try to hit 90 all res or 100% spell suppression (one of the two, 90 all res is more expensive but better), and convert a decent amount of our damage taken to elemental with use of the elemental flasks active to help reduce the damage taken further. Alongside that we use 8% of our 200k-900k (Depending on setup) armour to mitigate the rest of the elemental damage we would deal to ourselves since we have our unbreakable ascendancy. Having the chest be a rare is more beneficial because we can take things like Tasalio from forbidden flesh/flame that combos really well with mitigating our own damage as well as being overall more tanky than tanking other things, since we stand still for long periods of time. Ideally, we'd have a grasping mail with "Armour is increased by overcapped Fire resistance" with the gravacius crafted mod, life, and giving us more potential reservation efficiency and increased aura effect from the eldritch implicits. If you're going for the 90 all ele res, you run purity of fire so the aura effect doubles into giving you an extra % or so of fire resistance as well as increased armour from grace/determ. We also make up for it a decent amount since we can still use IC (MS works well too, but IC is better with increased duration/cooldown recovery). as well as Berserk/have Nature's Patience on at 10 stacks. Because untiring exists, we no longer need the life regen since we'll be way over 100k life regen and 500k ES regen (We use Corrupted Soul from a Doryani GV paired with Divine Shield usually because its more phys damage we can take).
Always love your videos! Played a warcry berserker with echoes of creation, apple shield and dopp’s guise. Was not able to find a replacement for this armour as it was such a great source of survivability. I would say it was BiS for that build.
P sure a major reason you don't see this as a popular defensive layer is because anybody looking into that kind of thing is just going to do lightning coil and try to convert all incoming into ele instead as it's quite easy to get max res these days.
Why would you use this over brass dome? Pure armour is always better, not to mention crit immune. As a RF Jugg there really is no better defensive armour than brass dome...oh also the +5 to all max elemental resists

it can even be utilized by a jugg if they grab iron reflexes to convert the evasion into armor [or potentially a jugg who doesnt take that node but thats crazy XD] ; but ya the strongest use cases are characters who arent going to build any armor and lack physical dmg def layers
This is not really the case though, because even when the league was more active and the price of this unique was around a divine, people didn't buy and play with it
Ive used doppelganger in a couple assassin channeling builds in the past few leagues, combined with arctic armour makes a pretty good replacement for determination, i get why the chest isnt used more often though,, you have to get more life and resistances elsewhere
I think not many people are using it because I feel like divine flesh is pretty overrated, it is a big opportunity cost to get chaos res capped without investing several dozen divines into gear. Also the body armor slot is pretty stacked since this league is bow league. But I do agree its better on classes without much armor and phys mitigation already, that's probably why its an evasion + energy shield base.
You can play arctic armour with it, it works only for hits and when stacionary, but! But it works when you play flicker strike, so you have than 53%reduction against phys and hits, it's massive with endurance charge combination it's really really good, sadly old version of arctic armour was better gives you 12% reduction all the time not only stacionary, I don't know why they change it it wos just better heh
I've been using it the last few leagues in HC (since they upgraded it), but in this league armour stacking and fourth vow is generally a better option (IMO).
I think about making flicker strike build with this unique, but you know, feralsfurr is op for flicker strike but mabe with timeless jewel 9poits a location technologies this will be vialbe or just mabe i try bleed franzy charge? Idn but it sounds cool I think ;p
more critical strike chance is rather useless tbh. People who stack crit, generally cap it, hence that mod is useless as a damage multiplier. Although i like the 40% less damage taken mod.
Every time I drop this it sells immediately. But it's bought for Animate Guardian. When it comes to damage mitigation, lightning coil, fourth vow, and incandescent heart are significantly better even talking divine flesh into account. Lightning coil bc of the huge phys taken as elemental that you can then pump up to 100% with taste of hate and a good eldritch implicit helmet with the fractured delve mod of the same type. Fourth vow as you stated it, and incandescent heart with chaos inoculation.
It depends what damage types are being taken into account in all scenarios, fe. Lightning Coil is amazing for mitigating phys damage from hits, but it does nothing for chaos damage or damage over time. The Fourth Vow is going to be largely stronger at mitigating hits(chaos and elemental via DF) but it does nothing for physical damage or damage over time. The Incandescent Heart(with CI) is decent for mitigating elemental hits but struggles against physical damage and damage over time. All of these option have their upsides and downsides, I don't think it's ever really as simple as one being stronger than the other due to how complex the game is and all of the situations you find yourself in.
@@dreamcore_gg true, lightning coil really struggles against damage over time. It's pretty much the only thing that kills my pathfinder. The mirroring of the regen with Pious Path happens before Kaom's Spirit converts the life regen into rage regen, so you get rage regen and ES regen from your life regen.
