Thank you for your honest review of this lens. Focusing on the practical nature of this lens is exactly why I got it, too. I'm incredibly happy with the range of 17-40mm, since it pairs well with the 70-300mm L lens for a 2 lens setup for travel... A lot less to pack than the "holy trinity" of lenses. Having 40mm versus 35mm helps much more than 16mm versus 17mm. Cheers!
