    One of the few shows that actually take good care of the horses. Most people say that what they doing is bad but these horses have it much better than some. They get larg box stalls built for them, travel in air ride trailers and get human attention all the time. Plus they retire much quicker than other horses where they get to live as a family pleasure riding horse or out in fields.

    I saw Odysseo twice this summer in Montreal. first time in General admission, second time I wanted better seat so I bought VIP. VIP is the way to go for the extra 50$, you get to visit the horses and the riders and Lunch with open bar is included. This is the best sho I have ever seen in my life, even young kids are captivated for the entire show.
    For those who think that this could be hard for the horses, You should get informed, those horses in Cavalia are better treated than any horses in shows, Cavalia even spend millions to keep the horses happy after they retire from the show. The Calgary Stampete is probably the worst for horses, two were killed this week alone.

    I got a chance to see Cavalia in 2006 in Dallas Texas, The ticket cost me $ 90.00, after the show was over I told someone I would pay $ 180.00 to see this show again it was that good.
    I got V.I.P' ticket and got to go where the horses were, all of a sudden while I was walking back by the stalls I heard this woman say, "Oh my gosh now I know why there is a term, hung like a horse. She had just seen one of the stallions , let's say let it all hang out! I laughed my head off. One of the greatest shows I have ever seen if you are a horse lover you have to see Cavalia.

      I loved the full experience of the VIP thing...you have dinner and be social in elegance and then see the magnificent horses in their stalls after performance...it's all just wonderful...

    I am a life-long horse lover. I have never attended a show. However, in all Cavalia UA-cam videos I have watched, I observed riders holding sticks/riding crops. I had the opportunity to meet one of the Cavalia horse trainers who was visibly perturbed when I questioned the presence of these sticks. The trainer condescendingly stated that I knew nothing about horses because if I did, I would know that “you can’t make a horse do anything it doesn’t want to do.” So then this must be where the stick comes into effect; to force horses into compliance.

    If you love animals,dont buy tickets, they are limited to live in a box, and they can see only one time in the morning to run in the exterior.

    Im very worried about the welfare aspects of this show. Horses don't travel well by air. These spend their entire working lives travelling across the globe, different climates, time zones etc. This week they are opening up in Hong Kong in the middle of a giant construction site, the most built up area in the world where pollution and noisem population density is one of the highest in the world, before that Taiwan before that Australia, America Canada etc etc. Horses are very sensitive highly strung animals. Horses (its unavoidable) lose body weight during transport through stress alone. The amount of weight lost can range from 0.45 to 0.55% of total body weight (about five to six pounds in a normal mature horse) PER HOUR of transport! This weight loss might reflect reduced dietary intake during travel, dehydration, manure and urine excretion, and sweating, all brought about through stress. Horses can lose 45 pounds (20 kilograms) on international flights, many horses get what's called shipping fever and can lose 75 pounds or more en route bringing them into critical danger. Using tranquillisers and intravenous re-hydration to stop them fretting and losing electrolytes and fluid can be even more dangerous than good. There are all sorts of health complications for horses long term too not least respiratory disease. Putting it bluntly horses shouldn't travel by air more than once in their lives before welfare issues start becoming an issue. Its unacceptable even more so for competitive horses who then have to perform. No matter how long they acclimatise on arrival they begin to suffer the consequences of repeated flights much reducing their working lives. Short haul flights are only just acceptable if its absolutely crucial.
    Isn't time we said no to these kinds of travelling shows and sports involving animals? Most of these horses in Cavalia are not particularily spectacular specimens of their kind either, just very ordinary horses, I have seen them. They don't need to be air lifted across the globe like a stud race horse might have to be when its sold, they can easily be seen happily at home in green fields on farms where they belong. We can travel and accept the consequences if we want to see horses, not the horse, they don't get a choice. Imagine not seeing a green field for ten years or eating fresh forage, just being a horse doing what horses do. Its not acceptable and worse than elephants in a travelling circus, at least they dont have to fly. Just because these are domesticated animals doesn't change a thing, not a thing they have exactly the same fight or flight responses as any wild animal.
    We must vote for them by refusing to encourage this kind of thing once and for all, animals don't belong in acts as props for our amusement, its degrading humiliating and cruel at the best of times.

      +River P And in many parts of the world, horses are crippled and used for food. Yes, the show is not perfect, but a perfect example where the horse's mental and physical health is IN THEIR INTEREST. They have it far, far, far better than most horses in the entire world, and a hell of a lot better than many, many, many humans worldwide. And yet, it still is just not "good enough", go figure.

      @riverp9019 8 років тому

      +Jmichael Isbell Actualy the director made a press statement here when the show started saying that no cruelty was involved nd none of the riders use spurs.......that was a straight lie, the rider with the big bellbottom wide trousers was concealing spurs which he freely used during the so clled "dressage" perfformance on the white horse. They were meant to be concealed but caught on the fabric for all to see. if they lie about this what else are they concealing???!! Its not lovely to watch either most of the training methods involved cruelty, these are tricks not classical riding or equitation. Even the horses at liberty its just a circus act. Animals dont belong in circuses end of story. Any animals.

      River P: I really agree with you, River P. Well, co-founder(or not, I'm not sure?) French horseman, Frederic Pignon never uses spurs or whipping horses. I know it because I went to see him training horses twice in France. He quit Cavalia, I think, after his many years' partner horse Templado died at the age 17 and went back to France, and he has now a show place very close to his place. And he makes a show only few times a year. He doesn't travel far anymore. I just don't understand Cavalia Odysseo producer never mentions about Frederic Pignon the very horseman who inspired the producer and gave him an idea about Cavalia. He said many years ago that Frederic was performing with horses without forcing or whipping, naturally riding horses and that's how he got an idea about horse show. Now he's changing his Cavalia story. How come? Also an interview with Frederic Pignon in US (including movie stars who came to see Frederic) is totally disappeared. Very short video of Frederic Pignon with a gorgeous white stallion, Templado, licking his face. ua-cam.com/video/GBavoRzkLgg/v-deo.html Maybe there was a conflict the producer had with Frederic?

      Lucyfur Feralcat Not its not. Its the reality. It really is. These horse live eat and breath artificial environment. They dont get to play in green fileds. They are treated like props for our entertainment. Please don't believe these horse love what they do, they have no choice. A walk once day on a sandy track is not life, nor is going round and round in a circle like a machine and spending your days on wood chips in a stable. Some get to run freely but as part of the show but this is staged and they are not truly free at all. A horse is not free in a stable even a big one, its a grazing animal that needs constant movement and natural forage. Even top competitive horses it has been realised need this to keep them healthy in body and soul.

    • @aeryn6275
      @aeryn6275 8 років тому

      +River P I understand your point, but the horses are soon retired, and it is ensured that they are comfortable in their new homes. Then they can feel what it's like to be a real companion, living with someone who will forever care for them until their days are over. I believe that perhaps a Cavalia horse's life is far better than a regular horse's, for they get to have so much attention, so much cheering for them, get to be trained, exercising their brains, and then get to settle down after a little bit, where they can run freely and be with their new rider.
