The Rise and Rise of The METRO Series

- The first-person shooter genre often seems like the one that gets most commonly criticized for eschewing creativity and experimentation in favour of sticking to tried and true formulas, but there are some notable FPS franchises out there that do their own thing, do it very well, and get a lot of success on the back of it.
There is no better example of that, perhaps, than 4A Games’ post-apocalyptic semi-horror series, Metro. From its early days in 2010 right up to now, the Metro games have consistently delivered excellently crafted, single player, narrative-driven experiences, which, unsurprisingly, has endeared the franchise to a great many people. Here, we’re going to talk about exactly how Metro has managed to find that sort of success.
Since fallout is such a success, i can only imagine a metro show done at the same (or better) quality level!
It’s Russian and doesn’t have the Fallout charm. Do the math, c u c k.
Fallout is a children's game compared to Metro lol they will give up on the first mission in Metro Exudes lol 🤣
Would be badass. I hope the rumors of the A Plague Tale show are real.
@@Gamer_Live_StudioWell, I'm fan of both, don't know from where this commemt came from tho
Metro and Fallout are completely different games. You should compare to the Stalker franchise.
Best single player story telling game series ever am having all three of them they awesome
I agree with your Sentiment but your grammar leaves must to be Desired
@@alantaylor695 sorry my bad am learned it and not the best
leaves much* to be desired*

Cant wait for awakening later this year
Underrated trilogy tbh, hope the new mainline game is revealed this summer
I was looking for this comment before I posted it. I have convinced so many friends to play it and the ones that listened absolutely love it. There was a rumour they were going to show it last year at Gamescom which obviously never happened so hopefully this year we see it. XBOX show is just over a month.
@squiddly007 here's hoping we see it soon, in the meantime stalker 2 looks great and releases in September.
The Metro games have the best full gaming experience in terms of their mechanics. How everything works in that world and the tools you're given to adapt to it is refreshing. Almost like playing a Far Cry game for the first time, 3 to be exact. Only thing is that for Metro they keep the experience fresh for all of them.
I beat Metro Exodus twice, the game was fun af to me... Definitely buying the next 1 whenever that is
The VR one? Haha
@@thefallenvalley4340That was a different studio. Apparently metro 4 could be coming out next year
I never heard of the Metro franchise before metro exodus, after i finished playing it, i got metro 2033 and last light.
I like how in the games especially the first two ammo and resources are challenging to find and maintain.
Hi, I was playing a bit of the Exodus demo on PS5 and am quite impressed. Does it make sense to jump into the third installment only? Or should I better start with 2023 and then Last Light? And finally Exodus? Thanks.
@@charmedcharmed3511 it didn't bother me too much when i played Exodus first
You can play them in chronological order if you want to.
A message for those that haven't read the books....
DO IT, THEY ARE SO GOOD
are the audiobooks also a option ?
The popularity of multiplayer games ruined games. Developers chose to be lazy and single player campaigns became an afterthought. So few good modern single player games. Metro is definitely the best there is.
Great series Although I wish they had stuck with the sombre and gloomy tone of the first , especially the original voice of Artyom which sounded like a depressed character out of classic Russian novels. Although nothing against the redux and sequel artyom. the second are third are good of their own right but are more action , still they all tell the story fantástically especially the Volga level on Metro III it had the same greatness as Metro I
The Metro series gave me a sense of gaming that I only had when I was a child. Thank you ! Great game series !
Is pc version of metro 2033 optimized for newer versions of windows
Yes. I still play it on my new pc. Works fine.
I loved all these games. I could never get into Fallout. Trying to get into 4 now but these tell a way better story.
4 is trash
3 and New Vegas are classics
But comparing Metro and Fallout is a mistake
New Vegas is the only good Fallout. Yet any Metro beats it by a landslide.
@@joewas2225 I did end up buying New Vegas on sale for 5 dollars and will try it out one of these days. But then I would really like to go through the Metro games again.
@@picto3 New Vegas is 10/10
It's comparing apples to oranges though
Completely different from Fallout in every way imaginable
I've played Metro since original 2033 on the 360
I prefer the Metro series as a whole but New Vegas is a legendary game hard to match
Also I want to include fallout 4 is trash , I also bought it for like 5 bucks and never even finished it
That's a great franchise. I can't wait to play Metro Awakening.
I pray to god I find myself a girl like Anna
GTA and Metro are the only gaming franchises I know of that follow this trend. This phenomenon must be better explored.
GTA are trash games
I'm surprised someone who enjoys Metro would like something like gta
Great video! I very seldom play FPS but I loved Bioshock, Singularity and I want to try the newer Terminator and Robocop games. I’ve always been curious about the Metro series!
Get it
If you like those games it’s basically guarenteed u gonna like these games also terminator is way better than robocop imo but both decent games
I literally just beat 2033 & Last Light not too long ago & now replaying Exodus which I stopped shortly after getting it. They're amazing. Best FPS I've played this Gen (PS4). I don't even play it like an FPS, I play it like a Metal Gear Solid & I love it goves you the option on how you wanna play. Well if you're on normal anyway.
Almost beating Metro 2033. What a game.
Mind blown ! Didn’t know it was made by awesome Ukrainians that made Stalker games !! Ukrainians make the best single player games !
It’s stalker 2 I’m hype for
Is really fucking wish it would come out on ps5 too
not for PS5, it sucks
@@thefallenvalley4340 back in the 360 era I would not have minded but I too am so pissed off
Hi, I was playing a bit of the Exodus demo on PS5 and am quite impressed. Does it make sense to jump into the third installment? Or should I better start with 2023 and then Light? And finally Exodus? Any thoughts are appreciated.
METRO SWEEP ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Ohh we gonna start turning into GVMERS now? Making a Rise and Fall series? I’m all for it.
They've had this series for a while haha. I've even seen THE RISE AND RISE of series like with Helldivers 2
*And you're gonna keep clicking on it.*
Someone needs to pick up the mantle, considering GVMERS is no longer.
Just conpleted metro exodus at my ps4 and man it just is that much great ..!!!!
For what it's worth, Metro 2033 Redux and the same for Last Light, released in the time before Exodus.
Same games but 2033 Redux was a better game than 2033.
I prefer 2033 and last light. The open world in exodus is a good idea.but they felt empty. A lack of exploration, a lack of monsters. You spend a lot of time in two particular areas. The worse one being the Caspian map. It does everything fans loved about the previous game and just made it dull if they make it open world again I'd just prefer one big map with more atmosphere and exploration above and below ground. With the same survival mechanics which I love.
I've waited many years thinking it was just horror game, or just monster game that isn't grounded. so much fun playing both game and then replaying them before getting exodus and it's 2 dlc's. the new is going to be welcomed as well.
They are all gem games, in my opinion. I enjoyed Exodus and went back to play the previous ones. 😊 They remind me of the Resistance series.
I'm looking forward to the sequel for exodus and who's story will be following artyom or sam in America
I loved the first 2 but lost interest in the 3rd game and never finished it
same here , it just felt more like a generic semi open world game than the first 2 metros
I played all metros and i liked exodus the most ive beat it three time trying to get all of the achievements
Metro > fallout
Really hope they release another metro game metro exodus was my favorite in the series by far but I didn’t know this was a Ukrainian studio makes sense why another game isn’t out yet
Where the fff..new metro game..best game ever
Phenomenal series!
Is there gonna be more sequels? I love Metro
Yes, they've confirmed they're working on their next Metro game.
@@thefallenvalley4340 That's cool
@@DogDayFromPoppyPlaytime180 Definitely. But before that, a new VR game will be released for Meta Quest 2 exclusively.
@thefallenvalley4340 exclusively? I don't think you are right on that. It's getting released on psvr, quest 2 and 3 and on steam vr
Metro movie would be sick
Just finished Metro Redux on the Steam Deck. It's a 10/10.
Last Light and Exodus, here I come!
I played the first 2, but not the last can't wait for the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
I waited so long to play exodus, absolutely hated the pacing. Was so disappointed.
Love these games. Played Exodus like x3. Just hope the next game keep the same cast since we got a chance to get attached to them.
When metro 4 come
BIG SALE RIGHT NOW ON STEAM
It's on sale on playstation
Luved Exodus....
👍video
I bought all 3 dirt cheap whole back. Loved the first one, even with its flaws. But recently tried the second, and it was way worse with glitches and bugs. But I continued, and got stuck in an unground area which a boss fight with hardly any ammo. Progression block. Tried to take it out with my shank, over and over. But no luck. Two bosses back to back almost with no way to re up ammo. Pissed me off to the point I had to put it down. Wish they’d patch it. Otherwise it and Exodus can wait till my rage subsides.
Patch what? That's not a bug, that's a skill issue. Metro isn't for casual gamers. Go play CoD or whatever is popular these days.
You're just playing it wrong or it's a skill issue. There's several areas I was out of ammo & I got through. Plus ran out of filters in D6 but found out the gas mask trick.
@@Evan_Horvath patch the fucking bugs, especially the one that had me off map. That would be swell. And I don’t play COD smart ass. And I’m proficient in fps’s. This is a design flaw and bugs.
@@joewas2225 nah man, was smooth sailing up until that point. The first boss fight on the platform surrounded by water took most of my stock. And getting through the tunnel chewed up what was left. I will retry. But between that and glitching off the map, id appreciate some love from the devs. At least in the glitches.
@@dustinhooper2260 I don't understand what being good at FPS's has to do with Metro. Metro is not an FPS. That's like saying you know how to play chess because you are good at checkers. I have not personally experienced any bugs with any Metro game, and I have A LOT of hours and playthroughs on each title.
Bad stealth mechanics and the weird moral system stopped me from enjoying the games.
The shooting mechanic and A.I is so bad in this game.Everything else is great !.
metro exodus started out great but each chapter got progressively worse and worse
How so?
Honestly the only chapter i didn't love was the desert one still enjoyed finding all the secrets tho imo the rest of the chapters are great
Fallout without the charm.
without?
Bethesda Fallout IS Fallout without the charm
