I got a QuadLock case for my S24 Ultra (case hasn't been delivered yet) but oddly enough I have a GrooveLife Magnetic belt and I put my S24 Ultra into my sweater pocket and it popped up with a message about magnets and the Spen. So then I did research and found your video. Glad to see it's mostly accessories that cause issues and not cases. I mainly bought a MagSafe Case so I can much more easily wirelessly charge in my car and with a power bank. Otherwise I won't have like a wallet attached or anything. Thanks for the video!
Magbak affects the compass. Have just saw a review here of this case and the guy posted below that the compass goes crazy with the case despite of the shielding.
I have the magbak. It does not effect the spen, but it is not magsafe compatible (it only works with magbak accessories) so what I did was install a 3rd party magsafe ring on the back of the magbak case. It's not a perfect solution, but it doesn't cause spen interference at least.
This is exactly what I was looking for! It's great to see that it's not exactly the Cases but the accessories. I was looking to get a clear case with the "MagSafe" ring built into it and possibly a MagSafe PopSocket. But I'm guessing that magnet is going to be so powerful, it'll affect the SPen functionality. Hopefully, you'll cover that scenario in your Magnet Accessories video?
Im not having that issue with mine. I have the HaloLock 360 attached to the Otterbox Symmetry clear case and my ESR wallet isnt disrupting my S Pen use. I do want to try it with the ring on the device Edit: so apparent there is interference with the ESR wallet. I tested again in diagnostic and with normal pressure you will get spotty interference. This can be remedied by applying more form pressure, but due to the pressure sensitive nature of the S Pen this isn't always advised, so I just take the wallet off
My son almost returned his Zfold3 for the same reason; it wasn't Magsafe but a precursor with a magnet that holds to a steel ball on the mount. The whole center of the left half of the unfolded screen was just dead.
Thank you for this video ... I love using Magsafe accessories for my S23 Ultra (car mounts, stands, etc) but was thinking about getting a wallet ... Now I'll do some more research. Glad there's a tech UA-camr that's going the extra mile for their viewers. Great job on the video
I'm using the UAG Metropolis LT Pro Case with a magsafe pop socket wallet. The timing of the case and using the accessories didn't register with me and I thought there was something wrong with my phone or pen. Can confirm, at least for me, that without the wallet attached I do not have any spen issues. With the wallet attached the pen skips and I have to use more pressure than normal to write. For now, I'll just be removing the wallet when I need to use the pen. I'm not sure what I'll do in the long run.
really good purpose but very poor execution, it seems almost that you intentionally avoid writing on the affected areas, just do few vertical lines acrosso the screen and horizontal ones that said, that's already better than most ov other reviews, so thank you
I use normal S23 and while using the Nillkin Case with magsafe & a wallet, my telephoto seems like it's trying very hard to be stable and something keeps forcing it to move the OIS. And the compass always asking for recalibration so i end up throwing the magnet lol
Thanks for this and the people in the comments section. I've been researching on magsafe adapters for s23u, and luckily read long run issues with these magnets
So theres issues with the spen and compass based on the comments. Are there any other issues? Does nfc work? Are all issues only while accessories are attached? And are there any other more long term issues to be concerned about? I wanna get one of these cases, but Im concerned about what effects might happen. This is my first ultra/note galaxy.
Thanks for this. Was looking to get a magnetic case and by the looks of it, i have no use case for the accessories if they're gonna interfere with the spen and sensors of the phone
Thank you cuz I was really wondering about this too. I'm still debating on getting just the halolock rings. Side question though, what is the icon pack you're using?
What about rings? If i put a ring holder on a Monarch Pro, would that affect it too, were there any tests? I assume battery affects it more. I do wonder though if this magnet would affect other things on the long run than just the pen...
Great content. These are some of the main reasons I've been on the fence when ordering a new magsafe case/accessories for my pre-ordered S24 Ultra. I'm really curious on how the Torras 360 Spin , Supcase UBMag XT, and Poetic Neon will fare.
Apparently this type of case affects the phone sensors. I am not sure yet which of the sensors it affects, but I know for sure the compass go bunkers with it. This was confirmed on the Magbak, which has some type of shielding against the magnetic field. I wonder what happens with other magsafe cases without the shielding.
When I bought my Note 20 Samsung had a case with a magnetic kickstand. Started noticing Spen issues only in one area. Started a support ticket sent in screenshots. Then it clicked...the magnet. Crazy thing is it was a Samsung case.
I just got a rock form case for the s23 ultra today and that is messing with my s pen saying it's not in the device won't write sucks man it was $92 with the sport ring I don't want to send it back cuz I like the case but I don't want to mess my phone up
I'd much rather have Samsung spen and reverse charging, but I'd remove the accessory and use the spen on a flat surface as it's not convenient at all for the phone to rock around
Damn yo.. I thought it was the Whitestone dome because I guess I started to use the magsafe ring at the same time! Thanks a lot saved me some headache!!!
Thank you!!! THIS VIDEO IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED TO SEE!!!!I'm used to having a magnet interfere with spen functionality(Steelie on an old UAG on my Note9 that I've had 4yrs)and trust UAG brand for protection..... so glad I was able to watch this and be confident I'll still have full functionality with my s pen!!!! And use a magnet (which is a necessary feature for me)
Oh yes it surely does, if your automatic/mechanical watch gets magnetized it can mess up the internals and you have to bring it to a watch repair shop to get id demagnetized.
Pretty sure they have a "magnetic shield" built into the design. When the manufactures decide to use magnets they typically implement this. For example, even my Supernote (e-ink tablet) that uses weak magnets in their case to wake the device up has a thin magnetic resistant layer (near the back) protecting the sensitive parts so that the writing experience is affected when the user folds the cover behind the device. Edit: if you'd like to learn more about why is happens and what not, check out "electromagnetic resonance"
@GlassFiend galaxy tab now has a strong magnet as well, and honestly, if you want magsafe and spen to work together, then I'd say use a slightly thicker case for me I'm using the ultra frame case of the s23 ultra and the esr mag safe stand and the spen works fine but usually I take it off when using the spen since it's meant to be used on a flat surface, I hope they just like on they tablet have magnets to add it to their phone in a way that the spen won't effect
Thank you alot for your informative videos, Dear please answer my question, I use a magnetic holder and it affects my s pen as well as your video. But does it affect the battery life or the the phone helath and is there long-term issue ? Thank you for your answer in advance. ❤
This is something that I never even considered could happen, thank you
@Toboe Key do you think there could be some long term effects to the phone after a while of using magnetic products
@@JayyB909I was also wondering this, since its the main case I use all the time

Wondering if you can test it with the magbak case that has magnetic shielding?

@@m3thg0d by taking off the wallet when I need to use the S Pen. Same with paying with Google Wallet. I don't think you can fix physics.

that said, that's already better than most ov other reviews, so thank you
I have tried all of them and returned immediately as the magnets will cause the compass sensor inside the phone to not work properly
Exactly what I'm trying to find out. Thanks for this test!
It affects on long run
My S22+ & Note 10+ both r spoiled after using magnetic key ring
Hey, can you describe the damage?
What exactly happened to them? I want to get a case but worried about this
Spoiled 🤨? 😂😅😅😅😅😅
You found the real reason, in fact it is accessory magnetism that affects Spen.
Ofc because of the polarity.
OmG, i really thought there is something wrong with my spen. The culprit is my moft magsafe wallet. 😅😢

Anker 622

ESR case effects the S Pen without any magsafe attachments on it.
Thanks bro, Keep it up
