Thanks a million from Ireland 🇮🇪… love your lessons.
I came for the dulcimer. I got so much more. Your Bible readings are a blessing, your banjo videos inspire me, and the family videos are a treat! Keep up the good work.
Thank you Walter! Glad you are enjoying the work.
Mandy, your teaching skills get better and better every time you post. Very helpful and your teaching method seems to stick to my brain like glue, even if it is 5am in the morning. I thank you!
Hey Karen, thanks! I’m glad it’s sticking with you. Have a blessed Easter!
Great lesson!! This song was one of the reasons i got a banjo in the first place! thanks
Great to hear!
I'm learning a lot trying to write the tab myself!!
Thank you so much!
Got it great teaching thank you!
This is awesome ❤️ thank you 🙏🏻
Great lesson! Thank you!
Thanks Joe!
At around 4:00, I feel like there is a section after the second string open that is unexplained. I am trying to write a tab myself according to your instructions but you don’t say which strings you’re playing. I was wondering if you could maybe clarify
Thank you for the lesson--I've wanted to learn this song. You mentioned "no tabs since it's copyrighted". I found many clawhammer tabs for it on the web at reputable banjo sites, brainjo, green lion, banjohangout, banjo teacher and others. Wayne Erbsen of "Clawhammer for the Complete Ignoramus" fame (I really don't like the title) has a UA-cam video and tab of the tune. I even found the tab in Tim Jumper's classic (old, 1984) book "The Banjo Player's Songbook". Josh Turknett has a YT video of the tune (with his daughter) and provides a tab version. I'm not a lawyer but I don't think all these folks would be doing something illegal (and face prosecution?) for doing a tab on an old, traditional, Gospel tune. So, what's the law about doing a tab on a tune--is it if one tries to sell it? Like all your lessons!!
Ok well I’m not personally going to do tab for it. Wayne’s book and others do pay for copyrighted work I bet. I’m very careful about it. You can find tabs for lots of things, doesn’t mean it’s not a copyrighted song. I’m not claiming anyone else is doing wrong, but here’s the lawsuits for this very song. www.intellectualpropertylawblog.com/archives/sixth-circuit-rules-in-favor-of-songwriters-heirs-in-copyright-termination-decision-in-jackson-brumley-et-al-v-albert-brumley-sons-inc-et-al
@@BanjoLemonade Boy, it sure can get complicated. I suppose you have to check every song you teach just to be safe. Thank for the info.
One last question about copyright since I don’t know anything about it...You can play it and teach it on-line without infringing on the copyright but you just can’t tab it out? Do you have to pay any anything for any copyrighted song? Can you play it in public (at a gig) if you’re getting paid to play?
I’m learning this song on my dulcimer using one of your videos! Would this banjo version be “compatible” with the dulcimer version? My dad has a banjo and I think it would be cool to learn a song together but I’m having trouble finding dulcimer and banjo duets.
This video here is played in the key of G, so you can just learn the dulcimer version video and put a capo on the 3rd fret of your dulcimer and you’ll both be in the same key.
Thank you!
Where did you get your strap please?
Amazon if i remember correctly
Thanks. I like the cross on it
