I've looked at many DIY craft table videos and yours is head and shoulders above the rest! You give SPECIFIC info and links that actually help a person make one without guesswork and mistakes. Thank you!
I bought 2 -8 cubes and a wood top for that reason, didn’t know they had legs and brackets. My other half said it would take up too much room in the center of my studio, it’s against the wall, I’m not happy. I have disabilities that would keep me from holding that sort of drill. I’m looking for a small light weight one that would do the job. You have been a great inspiration for me to finish mine. Tfs. Enjoy!
Same! and a slightly larger top, since I'll be using it as a cutting table for sewing. I'm going to have the top be removable, since it would not roll through the door at the dimension I've decided on. I've used two 1/2" ply sheets I had lying around (2' x 4'), and four inch polyurethane locking casters (don't really need this big, but want the height). Now I'm about to screw through the three furniture pieces into the ply. Just waiting on my neighbor to rip the laminate to size for me (since he has a table saw), and then I will attach l-brackets to the underside of the tabletop but NOT to the base pieces, so the top can be lifted and removed without having to unscrew anything. Eight l-brackets should be enough to keep it from moving at all.
OMG!!! This is exactly what I need! Very affordable, but most importantly DOABLE!!! Honey, you did this!!!! 👊🏾 you are a genius! THANK for sharing this DIY as you can see from the hundreds of comments, this is a BLESSING!
Don’t forget you have useable space on the sides of the cube units. You could add magnetic storage for dies,or add pegboards to hang smaller tools that are accessible, freeing up drawer and cubby space. Great job !
I am definitely saving this video for later use. I need a large cutting table for quilting, and this would be perfect except I think I will add casters to the bottom instead of the legs. Your demonstration was perfect and makes me confident that I can do the same.
I was inspired watching your video and it suddenly occurred to me that I could the components of my entertainment center for the support of the tabletop instead of the cubbies. I now have a wonderful craft desk.I am thrilled. I was amazed how inexpensive the melamine countertop was and also so heavy!
This is by far THE BEST video I've watched on a DIY craft desk in about 10yrs!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I've been looking for a straight forward video and FINALLY found one!!! Happy crafting ❤
great idea. My wife wanted one so I basically followed this. I have a couple changes. Mine was a little wobbly, so I nailed on the back of each cube (where they meet in the middle after put together) the board used for peg board as a backing and it 100% removed the wobble. Also, I created a plywood base for mine with wheels, so you don't have to use straight brackets to attach the cubes--they are attached to bottom plywood. Also, I have no permanent attachments anywhere so I can easily break down the island if I want to without risking damaging the particle board with screws. I even attached the plywood base to the cubes using decorative c clamps.
Great design, love the size I am always running out of space. A thought is to add casters to the 4 cube cap unit so you can spin it around for easier access to the contents when scraping (of course this would involve trimming the legs)
Well done! I love the simplicity, the aesthetic, the practicality and how you created and tackled assembly on your own. Everyone looking for craft or painting space needs to see this!
Wish I could give it 5 likes! Forwarding this to my sister who is going to br SO excited to see this! I did a similar DIY desk but instead of using the cube unit are used Bbest cCraft oOrganizer drawer units which are much shallower drawers but also adjustable.. The drawers are 1 inch 2 inch or 3 inch in depth and are completely adjustable in terms of configuration. Was definitely more expensive on my end but the storage flexibility is beyond belief and as a crafter who does everything that flexibility serve me so well over the years! The units are on casters but the weight of the table top I have which is solid pine has made it for an extremely sturdy table.
You did a really nice job see with this video. I found your channel and subscribed. I am looking to recreate my desk and and add storage to it. So this was a perfect video to watch. Thanks so much
This is a fabulous project! I am a tall lady with back issues and my craft requires standing - so I can do even TALLER legs and save my back. We are not "handy" but this looks very doable! I think I love you! ;) Thanks so much for sharing!!!!!!
O. M. G. Girl!!!! I am so freaking impressed! Thank you so much for sharing ❤ I hv 2 3x6 cube organizers n I had planned to make a desk but this is even better! U made it look like I CAN do it. The top was holding me back, but u solved that for me too!!! I really can't thank you enough! I feel like u made this video just for me 🤣 cuz its so perfect! YOU ROCK!!
That's a really neat and complete crafting table unit idea! I would have to have an automatic raise and lower for my sewing machine. For when I'm not using the top to cut fabrics designing projects. Great idea thank you!
Wonderful! Just what I was planning, but your video just gave me the last few details to help me know exactly what to do. I think I’m going to put casters on mine instead of legs, but other than that...perfect for me!
I’m excited about this design. It’s just what I need in my space challenging quilt room. I’m not able to have an island style table due to lack of space but with the back on the cube shelving in the middle open this allows for less used items ti be pushed to the “back” cube space, but still be accessed from the front. If it were on lockable wheels it could be pulled out temporarily for those moments when i need the fabric hanging down the back side. I’m really excited about this, THANK You!!
This was such a cool video, you did a amazing job and now have a great workspace. Love that the room is so organized and white on white clean lines. I give this a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star rating.
Oh my gosh, I can't believe I happened across this video. I literally just purchased tha last couple of parts for this EXACT set up in my crafting studio!!! Brilliant minds. I make wreaths and am getting my room set up for a beautiful floral wall on one side with have pegboard full wall on the other, easels in my photo area. It's going to be so so beautiful and now seeing your 'desk' I can't wait to jump right in this morning. Have a blessed day. Peace and love xo
Great video! I love your new craft table/storage! I have a bunch of the faux ikea units from Walmart! I actually made my desk area myself too! I used my old kitchen table top, then bought a white washed panel from Home Depot, I attached it to my table top, and added 4 of Michael’s 12x12 shelf units in each corner! I love my extra storage! It’s so awesome when you can use your craftiness to make a better functioning craft room! Thank you so much for sharing!!!😊❤️👍🏼
I would probably put on wheels I could lock down instead of having a standing desk, that way I could move or shift the desk around. It could save from having more issues on my back. I do like the idea of leaving space open in the middle for a chair. You did a great job though. It looks good.
Thank you thank you. I was looking at different types of islands and this is going to work so much better for my space. I cant wait to get all the materials together and build it.
THANK YOU !!! I was making a DIY cutting table and could not find the perfect top. I had tried 1/4 " plywood and even bought batting to cover it with and then cover that with a sheet. Not a good look and not strong enough. I searched UA-cam and found you and your idea of a Melamie top. Perfect. I bought mine today, they cut it down to 36x60 and it is very pretty, all white and strong. Looks fabulous.
This is a really good workspace, I wish I had the room to use one. I think being in the middle of the room let’s you breathe and be relaxed and creative , Instead of looking at the wall all the time. You did a brilliant job with it and explained everything really well too. 🥰
Chezzie, don't know if this idea would work for you. I work with beads and wire to make jewelry. I had a 6-ft folding table facing the wall that combined my work space as well most of my plastic drawer storage units. When not working this was covered by a folding Japanese style screen with shoji paper panels. Decided to move crafting to my sunroom, put Home Depot tall (1) and medium (2) height closed cabinet shelving units against one wall. Also had a small unfinished (we stained it) wooden unit with drawers against another wall. For the table, we stained a piece of plywood to match the wooden drawers and fastened with brackets right under one of the window ledges. Also stained and fastened two tall legs (HomeDepot) to the two outer corners. Table dimensions are 47" long and 14.5" wide, plenty of work room for what I do and space for an Ott lamp, revolving tool rack and various odds and ends. Now when I craft I can look out into my (dare I say it?) beautiful back garden. Hope this helps to give some ideas to you and other crafters!
@@Alexandra-jj2qh Thank you for taking the time to respond. You’re a star. ⭐️ The folding table sounds like a great idea ! It would put me away from the wall and I’d feel not as cooped up. It was nice to see a non-ikea project for a change! Thanks!
Yeah, there is no IKEA where I live!
Whats its wrong with ikea
@eleni valentijn Nothing, but not everyone has one within driving distance.
@@FRAME5RS right! The nearest one to me is a three hour drive to NC!! This is Perfect for someone who is handy!
Exactly, nearest IKEA to me is 2,700 miles.
There is no love reply, but love the video and the idea. This is the best diy craft table I've seen so far!!!!
Wow, thank you so much!

@@HollyLagasse you can try the non- slip/ grip material (used under rugs) between the plywood and cubes to keep it from moving
The only thing if you use wheels it’s not gonna be as tall. What is your suggestions?
Best tutorial for easy inexpensive craft table. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you :)
Wow, how fortunate that you have the amount of space to put this work station in your room. Wonderful job, well done!!
