I got mine earlier this week and love it. There were not any reviews out there when I pulled the trigger so I guess it was a bit of risk. Glad to see you all like it as much as I do.
I bought a mint condition single owner Technics SL-1600 MKII fully Auto deck about 2 years ago for $400. Then I was able to buy a really nice new AT MicroLine Cart and still have a few hundred left over for records. Well under $1,000 and sounds/performs fantastic!
The thing I liked about my vintage Dual turntables is the arm lift at the end of the LP which is a nice feature. They’re all up in their age, and I will need to retire them someday. I really like the features on the Audio-Technica turntable you’re showing. 👍🏼
The SL1500c has auto lift - not stop. What? You don't use anti skating? Wow. This TT has some nice features. It's a tough choice between it and the 1500c. Not enough data and reviews on this AT. But, sometimes and some people want a Technics. The 1500c has been out here for a while, and there are reviews and data out here. But a consumer might want to wait and see what information comes forth on this model. I already have the belt driven lp7, which is fully manual, and I installed a Q UP on it. But now I'm ready for a Technics. So, I got the 1500c and swapped out the Ortofon 2M red for a blue. Home run. With that said, you guys are a little bit dramatic, but I watched until the end.
My old JVC QL-A7 (1978) have auto lift and auto stop, so it is a must have for me :) I have to say that this AT-LP8X with a quick AT-VMN95SH upgrade is tempting!
In this video, your friend stated that the feet of the AT LP 8x phonograph are not adjustable, the feet are in fact adjustable according to the Audio-Technica website. I thought you would like to know this
I have the audio technica LP-140xp I think a few years ago I paid £340 brand new and its been absolutely flawless! I dont use it for dj purposes at all just for easy listening and the sound is just brilliant! I got this due to the rave reviews and the fact it has no built in dac has phono inputs and a kettle plug power cord which allows u to upgrade if u choose. The platter is also heavy and is also insulated on the inside with rubber. I was originally looking at the LP5x but the LP140XP being considered a more premium option due to its heavier construction, better damping materials, and a more robust power supply swayed me to purchase this. I have been very satisfied with my purchase and i definitely recommend audio technica as a brand! I do wish mine stopped and had auto lift tho! Great video guys 👍🏻
I will have this tomorrow I hope it’s better than my T 100c as it feels cheap for the price at times. I do prefer the looks for sure. Excited to give it a shot.
Ive got a 40+ year old $3250.00 Harman Kardon belt drive table and a 40+ year old JVC direct drive that only cost $159 and both have auto lift and auto return, its nothing new it used to be a very common feature back in the day. Both tables are still operational to this day
Nice review chaps. I have a few records with a locked groove at the end of one side. With those you definitely don't want it to automatically lift straight away.
Talking about sustainability i still use my fully automatic Teac P9 turntable with a Nagaoka mp-110 cartridge that i bought in the early 80's. Never had any issues with it and ofcourse it's a direct drive. The Nagaoka isn't from the 80's ofcourse...
So technics makes two turntables that are within the same range as this.. first is the sl-100c, $1.1k with AT cartridge and no phone.. the second is the sl-1500c @ $1.3k with the 2m red cartridge and built-in phono.. hope you do a proper comparison between both and the lp8x.. make it quick so you guys will be the first to do it!!
The auto-off feature is great in case you fall asleep before the LP ends or if you get busy and cant get to the record right away, in reality ANY decent grade manual table should have this feature, especially for what it costs and the cost of your stylus if its left grinding away in the groove with unnecessary excessive wear on a $$$$ stylus.
With its resonance dampening necessary for a direct drive this looks to me to be about the same quality that German company Dual put out in the late 70's - like the 731 Q which was fully automatic however and it had pitch control. 👍
I would contend that some of the Duals have bigger motors and heavier platters than any technics I have seen. Usually really nice (Magnesium) tone arms too. BUT they ALWAYS need service. If you want full auto I'm not sure there is a better option.
Cool date night lighting 🤣The reason some do not like the semi auto is it is just one more thing to break, that being said I still have my Technics SL-BD20 1993 cheap turntable and it still functions as it did when my then girlfriend bought it for me.
Had an LP3 fully automatic good sound but it was made of cheap plastic upgraded to a Rega P2. The closest one to the LP8X is my Pioneer PL518 built like a tank. Great review!!
@@LennyFlorentine I used to have that pioneer pl518 and back then I was convenced nothing new will beat the sound , then I decided to give a chance to the Audio technica LP7 and Ive got really amazed of sound , way better and also quiter than the pioneer so, hope this helps you on moving forward with new TT generation.
I have an LP-7. Out of the box, the cartridge/headshell leaned toward spindle. I didn't see an azimuth adjustment so I wrote to AT support. The reply instructed me to grip the headshell and twist until it (the socket) was straight. That was the high-tech solution. I also have an older LP-1240. The buttons have a similar coating to what you described. That coating has decayed to the point that each button feels tacky or gummy. It's every surface that has the coating, not just where fingers have touched. I think it's a chemical breakdown of the coating, not an interaction with, for example, skin oils. I've witnessed this condition on other products; a rain cover for a tent, a laptop wristpad, etc. I've been thinking about upgrading, but it won't be another Audio Technica. BTW, the gushing was extravagant. Paid actors?
That Turntable would be a great fit for me except the all Black , 99% of all Turntables I have ever owned are Wood or Wood veneers otherwise the adjustability and operating system are Awesome and the Price can't be beat in my opinion! I watched the WHOLE THING!
Hey fellas!! Enjoyed the video. Nice to see them step up their game, especially when it comes to build qualities. They've been Technics wannabes for soooo long in my opinion. Still rocking my sl1210-G. You guy's rock.💯💯👍🏾
@@El_white_horse YES. The sl1200-g is $4299. Their new turn table is the sl1300-g. It's $3299. Reviews state that it sounds really good. After seeing the price of this audio technica, they may have something to talk about.👍🏾
I have one of these. Mine lifts the tonearm just before the platter comes to a complete stop. Your tonearm lifts much earlier. Is there a way to adjust this? I would like mine to lift earlier.
I got burned on an AT LPW50PB and won't buy another turntable from them. Got a 60Hz hum that won't go away. I'm sure their top of the line model is great. I have a Fluance RT-82 which actually worked when I plugged it in!
I'll keep my technics sl-1800 that i paid $135 for. 1K for a AT hanpin offering is just ridiculous. Also, you dont use anti skate?? I'll bet you get sibilance and inner groove distortion
This thing oughtta be full auto and come with a decent pre amp for a grand - just hit a start button to lift and set the arum to start play. I say this because theres a budget $250 AT-LP70X table thats full auto - cant tell me theres a good reason (not) to make this full auto for a freaking thousand dollars. It could easily be a switchable feature you could turn off - again this thing is a grand just to drag a needle through a groove, which is hundred year old technology at its core.
So, this is your personal TT. But you didn't how the lift operation works, and were surprised at the speed of the auto lift? Basically, you didn't seem to really know that much about it.... Hmm. 🤔
Lenny should I upgrade my Ayer I have the lp120. I'm using vm95e should I get like a vm750 or 500 series will that make a big difference with the cheaper plinth and better cartridge or should I buy the same thing again. Like this turntable
If the goal is purely sound your best bang for buck would be keep the 120 and upgrade the cartridge. If you want auto and a different look to the table then u change table. If not cartridge all the way. Shoot us a text we can help. Thanks Christian!
I guess I'm a purist when it comes to TT's but not using an auto function when it's already built in makes no sense. Purism is not about operating everything manually but about leaving out mechanical and electrical bits and pieces that could pick up or produce unwanted vibrations.
you do not need a turntable at 1000.00 to consider it a audiophile turntable that s the most arrogant bull I ever heard I definitely will be sure not to subscribe to this channel ever!!!!!

How does it stack up sonically wise and quality wise to the Technics 1500 C?
Please comment. Thank you-
This turntable is a direct competitor to the Technics SL-100c and SL-1500c which both have auto lift and auto stop.
True, we did talk about that as a comparison

The auto stop is very erratic.
I'm a full auto guy. But I like to be able to place the tonearm myself once in a while.
Enjoyed the relaxation combined with the technical detail. I have the AT LP5x which is aesthetically gorgeous. Am tempted to upgrade.

Gostei muito da abordagem nas explicações do novo At-lp8x e suas qualidades, principalmente na ideia de upgrade pelo cartucho.
