- In this video Kevin makes a Cheese Slicer using one of our WoodRiver Kits. These kits make it quick and easy to put together a finished product. Great as last minute gifts or to batch out for a craft fair.

I use a sled to cut the groove at an angle. The angle makes it look more professional.
Me too, and it makes the board much stronger since you have not removed so much wood in the groove.
The wires are crude the way they have a stub on them. I find 2 saw kerfs work better to allow for that wire to clear without scraping
lovely diy,What the black rod called?
It's a cheese slicer kit from Woodcraft.
Why is not recommended to angle the cut for the slicer? I angle/slant all my cuts when making cheese boards just so there is more wood so as not to break the board if enough pressure is applied.
I've never had an issue with a board breaking. This is just less complicated. If you would like to angle your cut, go for it.
Printed instructions are garbage. There is literally no description of how to put it together, and no indication whatsoever that the kerf needs to be deep enough to expose the metal bar to use it as an anchor.
The instructions on this kit are terrible. You should not have to watch a video to get the right saw depth to get that rod seated properly with the wire loop.
