Hi, thanks so much for stopping by, really appreciate it! Yes, I've read about it and from what little I know, that place and Catal Huyok may have been more developed at the time than the sites of Sumer, though eventually the Sumerians would have the first real cities - Gobekli Tepe was still a relatively small site. Historically from what we know based on various texts, their religion for the most part was very similar to that of their neighbors in Mesopotamia, though they had their own national gods/goddess and some interesting rituals...their religious architecture as described in texts was unique and some sites described as having "horns" but what the significant of them were isn't know nor to my knowledge have the remains of such objects ever been found (probably were destroyed over time). The issue with standard videos is that with all the visuals, it actually takes longer to do a 7-10 minute video than a 40 minute podcast. Glad you liked it though and more to come!
Really is one of the best history channels. Your stuff is so concise and well researched. I watch at least one video before bed every night and while drawing lmao.😎👍
Comments like this make my day, especially coming from a Jedi Master like yourself. May the Force be with you!
I see, so that is how it went with Elam in the end, to bad we don't have more sources for it though. Maybe one day there will be more excavations to reveal more on the matter.
Guys, this guy really deserves more subscribers please share the channel
Very nice doku thank you so much

Thx for using 3 of the few Russian (?) Words I still can understand w/o Google translate:)

You have yet again brought history to life for us. Really enjoyed it and learnt a lot
Thanks my friend, my pleasure. More to come... can't wait to put out the Scythian project I've been researching... hopefully in the next month or two...stay tuned!
@@HistorywithCy cant wait.
Surprised how much I retained about Elam since undergrad. Guess I’m a proud Elamnus...
How, I'm just impressed that they covered Elam in your undergrad. In mine, never touched up on it other than it was just another civilization to the east of Mesopotamia. Thanks so much for stopping by, really appreciate it! Stay safe!
History with Cy , I may have gotten lucky with an adjunct teaching an elective Ancient Near East Course. So by chance really. Great vids!
@@6thsavage Oh that's awesome...good luck and thanks for stopping by and if you have any requests, please don't hesitate from letting me know. Thanks again and good luck!
Cy!! Great video as always ! And...it's great to see you :)
Thanks for the kind words, appreciate them and that you after so long still tune in! Haha yeah, just wanted to test out this camera I have and change it up a bit. I'll try to add some more live video in future. Thanks again, stay safe!
Finally we see the man! And I never realized that Cy meant Cyrus hahah
Great video man, as usual
Thanks my friend, really appreciate the kind words and support. More to come on Elam and other parts of the world, stay tuned!
Hi, I wonder where did you get the Annals of Sennacherib? 😁
you are really great CY!!!!!
No, you the viewers are the great ones... I really appreciate all of your support. More to come, stay tuned!
Looking sharp, my dude!

Totally awsome channel mate!
Thanks my friend, really appreciate it... stay safe!
well done 👍👍👍👍👍
p.s: can you do a video on Achaemenid warfare I read the book "discovering Cyrus: the Persian conqueror" by Reza Zarghamee and in the chapter "White horse and bow"It gives good information about the Achaemenid army but speaks very generally about it. soooooooo........ can you make a video about it ??
Oh, that's a good book... I used it as a source for my upcoming video (haha which I guess you now know what it's about). With regard to warfare, I do have some general books on it... "Shadows in the Desert" by Kaveh Farrokh has some info on it.
I'll consider doing something on it though... maybe a podcast like this one. Thanks again for stopping by, appreciate it!
Good job 👍 bro..🔥
So Cyrus its not just the good look you have i see 🙂.. great episode.. keep up the good work.
Haha thanks for the support, really appreciate it! Still waiting to go to the Getty... I think it's open now but have to make a reservation before going. Hope all is well on your side of the pond, stay safe!
@@HistorywithCy great to hear you can visit at last.. all ok here hope you enjoy the visit.
I know this is a bit off topic, but have you read about or know anything about the Gobekli Tepi dig site in Turkey? If so what are your thoughts on it, since it supposedly predates the earliest sumerian settlements but thousands of years.
Anyway just stumbled onto your channel three hours ago and I dig the shit out of it. Thank you!
As for age, yeah I could see it as being a candidate for the oldest, somewhat developed settlement.
Thanks again for stopping by, really appreciate it...stay safe!
Wow! I have been following you on UA-cam for quite some time now and am really interested in your posts. I am a Hebrew and Greek scholar but really want to learn Sumerian and Akkadian, I just need to find the time. What software do you use to make some of the maps with animation?
Hi! I use Adobe Photoshop to create the maps and Adobe Premiere to put all together (basic annimations / images). Any other questions, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks!
Hmm. Seems like I asked you this before, now that I think of it.
@@bredmond812 No worries! I want to learn After Effects, just haven't gotten around to it yet...
@@HistorywithCy Ok. Have you ever thought of getting involved with people who do CGI reconstructions of palaces and such? Might be good to weave in to some of your videos.
hmmm... I think you'll like the next video. Don't want to give it away but you'll notice something new in it...
Is there more archelogies items that can be shown of Elam because their artwork and tools are just amazing from what I see in your videos? Thank You and Many Blessings !!
Woah, wasn't expecting to see the man behind the voice. Hehehe...
Haha yeah I thought I'd throw a little surprise in there. Thanks for stopping by, really appreciate it...stay safe!
Fantastic!
Thank you!
First time seeing the face behind the voice lol
Is there any info found on role of Elam in trading between Sumer and Indus Valley?
Also, Elamo-Dravidian hypothesis is interesting
.. and let us not forget about the TINMINES civilization of Afghanistan.
Hey, thanks for stopping by, really appreciate it! Yes, there have been some seals found in Elam that indicate that such trade passed between the two lands via Elam/Iran. However, a lot of it probably was via the sea. Thanks for the question, stay safe!
Could you make a video about the Sealand dynasty ?
I am from India (south). Dravidian language is related to Elamate language
Cy... I Appreciate AND Respect your pronouncing native Kings,' and Place names as THEIR Cultures would have you do so. Ancient Kemetic (gr.egyptian) Culture TO THIS DAY, isn't given the same treatment.
Thanks, appreciate the kind words... I do my best based on how I've heard others more knowledgeable than me pronounce them, but I probably make some errors here and there. More though to come, including Kemet, stay tuned!
It's crazy that the last video about Elam was already a year ago, time flys I guess.
Also, nice face reveal!

Unlike your previous videos, we don't have many people here saying the Elamites spoke Tamil and were descended from the Lemurs of Madagascar.
There has to be a reason why babylon was so hated in antiquity and jelousy cannot be the only reason. They must have been complete assholes.
Interesting subject
I couldnt help it, i had to google the distance between Susa and Babylon
And it 450km.
I couldnt find Ashnona or Ashor, but it seems that Susa is closer to Babylon and mesopetempia from Ashona or the Iranian heartland
Yeah, it was even closer, a stone's throw really, to some of the older Sumerian cities such as Lagash and other urban centers in southern Mesopotamia. Thanks so much for stopping by, really appreciate it...stay safe!
Can you do an episode about the Hyksos?
Sure! I want to cover a bit more of earlier Egyptian history first, but eventually will get there...it's a very interesting topic! Thanks for stopping by and the suggestions, really appreciate it. More to come, stay safe!

Haha, I'm "working" from home.
Random history student: Bah, the Babylonian names were so long - I mean seriously: who can learn them? Take this Nebuchadnezzar for example. And he was just the First of his name! More followed
Hulteludish-Inshushinak: Allow me to introduce myself, I'm the King of Haltamti aka Elam.
Haha yeah, interesting names for sure. My favorite are the names of the Mitanni kings, they just sound fierce - Tushratta, Artatama, Shaushtartar.

Are any the Elamians Zoroastrian in Beleifs.
Hi, thanks for stopping by and for the question, appreciate it. No, not to my knowledge unless some of them adopted it much later after contact with various Iranian peoples.
Hope this helps and thanks for stopping by, really appreciate it...stay safe!
No they were the people before the arrival of Zoroastrian practicing lot

Ashurbanipal seems like the Hitler of his day, and that's by his own (probably great exaggerated) words!
Wow you really do look Iranian. You also look older than you sound. Cyrus is an appropriate name for you.

@@HistorywithCy get the open source program electrum for bitcoin and I'll send you some tribute. You're growing to be my favorite UA-camr
The Emperor's Club was wrong. Shutruk-Nakhunte is being remembered by this video
So why does the area of Elam always stay separate and jump between Mesopotamian and Persian civilizations? It going from independent to Babylonian to Persian makes me think of Saddam Hussein with this area. It was under an Iranian government but has Sunni Arabs and Saddam Hussein was trying to annex it.

If you read genesis 10 you will learn about Elam in verse 22. Following shems descendents at verse 25 Pe'leg's name means earth divided. Joktan ends with the chapter, but the bible is Pe'legs history leading to the messiah. Why was earth divided, over what? Elam, joktan, cush and nimrod all lived together at the same time. The division was we with nimrod or we with Jehovah. The story of Pe'leg starts at chapter 11.
Peace and agap'e.

He looks 100% like I imagined. You can hear in the way he says the names that he is a native speaker of some Semitic language, and he doesn't sound very big.
I thought he was white lol
Haha I'll take that as a compliment I guess? Yeah just thougt I'd surprise you all. With regard to Brandon's comment, I'm not a native speaker of any Semitic language, but I have studied some of them which has helped me with the pronunciation of some of words and names that I come across, especially from Babylonia/Assyria. pretty fascinating stuff there.
Their mythology was surprisingly unique from what I have seen, their gods were quite different from the gods of the surrounding more mesopotamian-like cultures.
I wonder what connection they had with the indo-iranians, since they boasted about their supposed relationship.
Oh.
