Large Abandoned 1960s Waterfront House Worth $7.5 Million!!

This $7.5 million abandoned house sold at that price not too long ago, it later went up for sale again that same year for $6.5 million but didn't sell, does that mean the buyer overpaid? Maybe but it wouldn't surprise me at all if that is the current pricing for that area! It was listed as a vacant lot which means the home will eventually be torn down which is a shame because it has a lot of unique characteristics and it's too bad that these types of homes are considered useless because the ones that replace them have no visual interest at all.
Located within a very wealthy neighbourhood right on a lake, it looks as though this home has been abandoned for several years. It has a mostly flat roof which is often the cause of leaks and that is evident from the inside of this house. There are a few different leaks that have led to the ceiling partially collapsing in some areas and we all know when a roof begins to go it's not long before the house is unsalvageable. Custom built in the 1968, it appears to have most if not all of its original decor intact.
These sorts of homes are great and visiting them makes me feel like I am stepping back in time and it's a damn shame that they are becoming harder and harder to find.
This home will be demolished eventually, it is just a matter of time. It will be replaced by a McMansion made of particle board and plastic that has absolutely no character at all.

Hay James, Thanks so much fro taking the to video this house for us. Its a really cool Old House! I am sure there were a lot of great times and memories shared with the people that use to live in that Old House. Keep up the great work and stay safe.👍
Glad you enjoyed it DC and thanks for the support!!
Really enjoyed this home, needs work but it would be worth it. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊
Ya, it would have needed some work, probably an older person owned it and couldn't keep up with all the maintenance required. It's a shame to see it demolished. Half you enjoyed it and thanks for commenting Leisa!!
Nice view from the bedroom, liked all the wood keeps with nature thanks for the look 👣🌞
This property has some great views. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!!
Hi James👋Thanks for the beautiful tour of this lovely lakefront home. Love seeing those old retro appliances that they had back in it's day. Too bad that nature is reclaiming it already. Love all of the cubby holes to store things in. Shame that it is sitting there to rot away. Thanks again James, love your videos and the content you bring to your channel. Much love❤✌👍🙏😀
It turns out it was actually demolished earlier this year. I prepped the video months ago and then decided i wanted to go back. When I heard about the demolition, i decided it was time to post it as is. This was one of my earlier videos. Glad you liked it and thanks for commenting Lisa!!
@@StaticSpaces Your welcome James😀
Oh JH I dont want to see the white stuff yet. No no no no no. 😆😆😆
Another great explore. This home is one of the few original ones left on this particular street. Its a shame that its left to decay. Too far gone now to save. There was a poster board on the front yard of what will be replacing this home. Its gonna be huge. That wall record player and audio system is pretty unique. I love it. That backyard view is just amazing. Id take it. Awesome video. Big hugs 😊😊😊
Ya, I'm not looking forward to winter either, it's time to move to the Bahamas! The built in sound system was really cool and i bet it still worked too. A shame to see this one go but that's the current trend these days. Thanks for the support Kimmy!!
That wall fold down record player and stereo are super retro. I have to say I actually love the pink toilet and sink, haha just a shade off from a pastel pink. Total blast from the past that place is. That TV, what a gem! Really enjoying your videos Static! They are very refreshing compared to the same old, same old big dog crews.
It's always the same with old electronics the capacitors need replaced. But I wouldn't want to get caught taking old junk.
Ya both the fold down record player and stereo were great and so was the tv. All probably new when the house was built! Really happy to hear you are enjoying the videos Mickey and thanks for the comment!!
Replace the capacitors and they would probably last another 50 years!
Adverse possession. U could own it
Great find! Still in pretty decent shape. I bet it smells like an old radio shack, bowling shoe and wet wood chips.
Ya, this one was quite unique, glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for commenting as well 325!!
wow, that is a nice house and an amazing view,, thank you for showing it,, and you all are getting snow already
Ya, this house had a lot of character and the view is great! No, no snow yet, still too early, this is an older video. Thanks for the comment!!
@@StaticSpaces I would love to have a view like that,, sad to see nobody living there,,
I wish I had the money for a place like this. Beautiful view of the lake and so much storage space, love it.
Ya, not many people can afford a property like this unfortunately but it's fun to dream. Thanks for the comment!!
Do adverse possession. U could own it.
love that house
It was a nice one, so much retro goodness. Thanks for commenting!!
Cool house! Memories.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for commenting!!
@@StaticSpaces you're welcome.
Way back in time house.
I like the water front location. I am shocked it has not been totally updated over the years.
Its hard to believe the owners never did much to update the house considering its on a waterfront property and I am sure the land is valuable and wanted by many people but it would take a fortune to update everything needed plus the money for the location/ land as well in my opinion.🥺
I am sure in it's time the house was admired and fancy but again shocked no owners have done much with it to update it.
I wonder if living so close to dampness the water and snow all the time is a problem with mold and rot issues with all the moisture buildup.🤔
I hope someone buys it and fixes it up😊 or build a big beautiful home that is more up to date.
Thanks for the video. It was definitely worth seeing.
Like I have said to you many times the pictures you take are beautiful ❤️ its art to me.😊
This property was bought solely for the land so the new, very wealthy owners could build a big mansion in its place. It's a bit of a recurring theme in my explores which you will see a lot of. Glad you enjoyed the tour and the photos and thank you very much for your comment!!

Ok, you probably said that in the video about building a new house. Sometimes I am doing several things and watching your videos so I probably miss stuff you are saying. Glad someone will be enjoying the beautiful scenery ☺️
So true-these beauties are worth far more than the over priced “mansions” that replace them. This house has stood for 60 years-a few repairs and some minor updating and it would probably stand another 60 years, unlike the new construction that will replace it.
Oh i completely agree, i grow tired of seeing these new McMansions being built. You are the first to refer to them as overpriced but i completely agree with that statement! Thanks again for the comment Sue!!
@@StaticSpaces I’ve seen more than one housing market crash. People will pay what is considered fair market price one day then be upside down in their mortgage the next. Even if that doesn’t happen, these people will never own their home. When they’re no longer in their 40’s and eating 6 figures that mortgage will be too much. Really enjoy your explores.
Oh definitely, i bet a lot of folks are struggling right now since the interest rates have been going up
That type of range was very popular in the late 1960's and into the 1970's. It's actually a second/auxiliary oven. That bathroom on the main floor is more 1950's than 1960's; the pink toilet and sink basin were very popular then, as was the style of the tile on the walls. Overall, it reminds me of a ski or fishing lodge or something. That's an old console stereo in the garage.
Thanks for the info! I agree, it felt like a home that belonged in a remote area like a ski lodge or a cottage but is a refreshing place to find in the city. Thanks for the comment!!
I really like this house.
It had so much character. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!!
Awesome!! 🙂👍
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment!!
It’s a shame that no one is living in it James 😳 Thank you for the tour of the place James and I really enjoyed this one a lot 😃
Glad you enjoyed it Fawn!!
You are welcome James 😃
Hi James. Oh, waow, I’m sure this was a nice place when it was lived in, especially in summer. TikiTrex also surprised us with a video today and mentioned in the description that it was Thanksgiving in Canada, so Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate! Terrible that this place is being demolished. It would be amazing if it was renovated!
Oh wow, she came out of nowhere. Yes it is Thanksgiving here and thank you! Glad you enjoyed this one Stephanie and thanks for the comment!!
That could be so beautiful again! So many built-ins. Looks like little kids could have had a hey day crawling in and out of some of them. It would be awesome to see some old real estate photos of how it used to look. (There's a guy in Australia that does that when he can.)
Thanks, James! This was so cool! That place was HUGE!
Ya, it was a really cool house with a lot of character, which i didn't appreciate enough during my visit. I think i know the Australian guy you are talking about, seen a couple of his videos. The problem with that is that those photos are copyrighted and i wouldn't use them without permission and that would be hard to get but it is a great idea! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the comment Kim!!
@@StaticSpaces Yeah Urbex Indigo. Got ya on the copyright. 😉 Never thought about that.
Urbex Indigo, that's the one
I noticed something else other than the NuTone intercom radio system that is cool when you get to 15 minutes and 27 seconds and the garage there is also a NuTone central vacuum
Oh cool, i didn't really take not of it during the walkthrough, i had no idea they made central vacuum systems. Thank you very much for the comment!!
Hey James : I think an intercom in the bathroom is an absolute " must have " ! Why take a huge dump alone when you have the ability to broadcast the sounds thru out the house ,for others to enjoy ? Happy Thanksgiving ! John
Lol. Happy Thanksgiving to you too if you are Canadian. Thanks for the comment!!
Really awesome retro house! I love all the built ins! I would love to have all that storage space! I like the table/island thing in the kitchen. The design was neat. Great job!
Ya, that kitchen table was amazing, i want one. 😆 Thanks for the comment!!
Yeah I have thats similar, and I just love the different places and stories behind some even though thier not all happy endings! Thank you.
Cool!!
Very nice love your videos !
Happy you liked this one, thanks for the comment Samantha!!
Always
Cool😀
Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment!!
Fast video. But I liked it quick. House was fairly interesting.
Ya this was one of my earlier videos when I was moving quicker. Thanks for letting me know you like the quick ones. I may have to do a poll to see what people prefer. Thanks for the comment!!
Hi James 👋 What another beautiful place 😃Not bad of a kitchen 😇 Nice fireplace too😊Bowling ball 😍 I love this home James 🤩 I love the layout too 😎
Ya, it was a really nice retro home, one of my favourites. Thanks Fawn!!
You are welcome James and I always enjoyed your videos too and keep them coming James 🤩
I'll try!!
Thank you James ❤️
Reminds me of Meistro Glen Gould's house.
Not sure who that is 😆 but thanks for the comment!!
It's getting pretty cold at night here in the area code 252.
I can imagine, its that time of year again unfortunately! Thanks for the comment Will!!
It's funny how you always use retro to describe some items or features. On my side of the pond we call this vintage and we refer to retro as things being manufactured to look like vintage.
Enjoy your videos.
You know one other person has mentioned this before and i looked up the definition of the word and i think you are right about that. I guess I'm going to have to try and stop using the word like that because it does seem to be wrong. It's going to be tough though because it's so engrained in my mind. 😆 Glad you are enjoying the videos TNT and thanks very much for the comment!!
@@StaticSpaces I'll just keep commenting 😁
😆 That will remind me
I think that is a convection oven.
Cool, thanks for letting me know!!
