    Hey Kings and Queens!
    Every wondered what others are going through during their starter loc phase? Join ‪@LocsSoFine‬ and I for a dialogue about our experience with starter locs. Tanielle’s locs are microlocs and in have in between microlocs and sisterlocs. Please feel free to ask questions about things we did not cover:) This one is lengthy, grab a beverage and Enjoy!

    Shout out to Laura, Kenyan in the diaspora! I'm 2-weeks DIY-microloced Kenyan in Kenya. I think there's a subtle difference between locs for African Americans/Africa diaspora and Africans in Africa. Unlike in the diaspora, I've had a hard time finding a DIY loc community here bc it's affordable to get your locs styled at a salon here so most people don't DIY. I wanted to be able to control my hair.

      Heyyy Kieya! SO good to meet you, sis :) There definitely is a difference..hair care is definitely affordable back home. I’ve always enjoyed getting my hair done whenever I’m visiting. It sounds like you and I started our loc journeys for the same reason :) Having control feel more convenient to me because i can care for my hair at any time. Are you on instagram, Kieya?

    Tanielle my scalp has also been suffering and I think it has to do with all the clarifying shampoo drying it out. I just listened to digital locticians live and she said if you don’t use a lot of oil or any oil (I don’t use oil at all cause my hair is fine) you can get away with using a regular or very gentle cleanser. I’m doing acv rinses now and using a gentle shampoo like baby shampoo to help get my scalp back together

    My daughter has high density thick hair and she doesn't like to comb it. No matter how much detangler I spray - I would love to loc her hair eventually. I understand Tanielle's point about about curly hair but don't agree as people don't judge white people with curly hair - they judge black people because of our hair and our styles.
    This is my 2nd set of locs - I too got tired of wearing twist outs each morning to go to work and I wasn't retaining length. Plus my hair is low density so I didn't do a grid. It's been 5 months

      Awwww i feel that deeply, i hope that your daughter will get used to detangling, thick hair can be an experience to say the least (from experience). Great point that black people experience more judgement because of our hair and styles.., at times i feel like it is more acceptable for other races. Yess for your second loc journey :) Sis…twist outs are so unpredictable lol, i attempted a few times and gave up. Happy 5 months! Locs are an assured way to retain length & they’re very low maintenance :)

    Do you ship your products to Kenya?

    • @laurakasuvu
      @laurakasuvu  2 роки тому +1

      Very soon we will be shipping to Kenya, Kieya :) Once that happens, I will be sure to announce! I would actually love to have a pop up shop in Kenya when I’m there.
