There are many such cases where they have justified their fraud when later exposed with 'it brings attention to a real problem' - which begs the question, if it really was so prolific, why would they need to? They should be practically falling on their lap.
There was one such case a few years ago when a black couple reported that they were getting threatening racist letters, claiming to be KKK and threatening to lynch them and such. Upon investigation, they found the source: A local black female professor. Refused to apologize, insisted it was well-meaning activism bringing attention to a real issue.
Yet, these faux crimes are so common, how can they be so sure what they perceive to be reality is not them subverting themselves? Every fake out that doesn't get caught is counted as a 'hate crime'
I love that him admitting to this hilariously embarrassing stunt is such an unacceptable option that he just HAS to double down on it for eternity. Imagine this being your legacy.
