    Why cant you pour at an angle? I also live in Florida and every few months I have to add a little coolant to the reservoir because I am sure caused by evaporation. So I just stick a funnel in there and add about roughly 15-20 ounces worth. I have never pulled the reservoir out to add coolant.

    • @joehodits1276
      @joehodits1276 2 роки тому +1

      That’s a blown head gasket, not evaporation.
      The 1.5 and 2.0 Ecoboosts have a TSB out for that.

      If you’re adding coolant occasionally, pull up the degas reservoir, and look for a small crack underneath near the hose. The leak appears intermittent because the coolant dries and seals the leak.

      My bottle is under the hood pan(??), you can't get a normal funnel in there, you need one that has a flexible neck or hose. I'm with the dude, just lift the bottle up and out, its not screwed down or anything.

    NASCAR vehicles run distilled water and those guys run at 200mph... i'm pretty sure running a car with distilled is effectively fine. just like you said you live in florida so it doesn't freeze.

    Water in the engine block and in the heater core, so what is the final concentration after adding coolant to the radiator? (I need 70% for -40 up here in Alaska)

    • @lividliving8174
      @lividliving8174  5 років тому

      for us its about 50/50. in your situation what ever was left in the system should have the correct ratio as long as you make sure what you put back in also does and you should be fine. having a little bit left over of the old coolant in the heater core shouldnt hurt anything

    • @georgerife8729
      @georgerife8729 Рік тому

      If you want more than a 50% concentration you need to buy the concentrated coolant, not the premixed, and if you add half a gal of distilled (preferably) water to one gal of concentrated coolant you get a 67/33 mix. You can do the math and fine-tune it to your needs.

    • @RetrieverTrainingAlone
      @RetrieverTrainingAlone Рік тому

      @@georgerife8729 Yes but if there is water in the engine block and in the heater core, even adding 70% mix would result in a dilution less than 70%. That is why the engine block and heater core need to be drained.

      Say 3 quarts trapped. If you flushed with water a few times, then it is almost all water in there. 7-8 total, so you should just add it straight. and then use a tester (recalibrate a generic one if you can't find one for the coolant you have)

  • @texasflusher
    @texasflusher 6 років тому

    did you use a pre-mix or straight coolant when you refilled? I ask because I know it can be tricky getting the ratio correct

    • @lividliving8174
      @lividliving8174  5 років тому

      We used straight coolant because we forgot to mix it with water. We actually had to flush it all again to replace the water pump a week later, and that's when we mixed the straight coolant with water.

    I open small tap but nothing comes out. Actually I only move tap for 90 degree ,I didn't wont to use tools because I worry that it can be broken?

    • @lividliving8174
      @lividliving8174  5 років тому

      make sure you have the fill cap off of the de-gas bottle first. if nothing comes out try unscrewing the plug all of the way and if none of that works the drain may be blocked and you can remove the lower radiator hose
