Construction is nearly complete on a so-called horizontal skyscraper in China’s southwestern province of Chongqing.
The Raffle City Chongqing complex features a futuristic design including a bridge which spans across four of eight buildings.
Developers say the horizontal span named “Crystal” is one of the world’s highest sky bridges, and will be a key feature of the complex which includes 1,400 residential flats, offices and leisure facilities as well as a hotel and shopping centre.
The futuristic skyscraper is expected to open in late 2019.

They scream capitalism while willfully making arguably the most value destructive decisions I’ve ever heard of in the entire history of earth. No exaggeration it’s the data. I hope that China can show maturity and respect for basic self determination, freedom within reason as it uplifts itself and begins to lead the world. Don’t lash out or have too much concern with short term rhetoric, reign in some of the destructive forces trying to hide themselves under China’s flag. The vast majority don’t want conflicts. China is quantifiably exceeding the US in many respects and I hope that it leads with the wisdom of true altruism. I have so much respect for China and the Chinese people.

The architect who designed Marina Bay Sands in Singapore also designed this. To be honest, the Singaporean building looks much better. I feel this enormous building is too imposing for that particular site at the tip of the peninsula in Chongqing. It would have been better to have something smaller and more graceful there, and taller buildings further back. But what is built is built. Chongqing is an amazing city with some of the best food in China (outside Guangdong of course :-) And it so happens that southwest China has some of the worst weather (least sunshine hours) in the world.

These units will be bought and sold until the prices are too high for anyone to purchase, then the market will collapse. That's exactly what happened here in America from 2006-2009. Investors would buy 50,000+ homes here in Phoenix (many not even built yet), sell them at 200% price and another investor would buy the lot, sell it to another investor for 200% price, and so on. By late 2007, a small 2 bedroom 1 bathroom house here was over 1 million dollars. Almost nobody could afford to buy these homes, so hundreds of thousands of newly-built homes were vacant and occupied homes foreclosed. As a result, demand fell and prices fell. The investors lost millions, sold their toxic debt via credit default swap which had a domino effect on insurance and banking companies causing the ENTIRE housing market and banking industry to collapse in 2008.
If China keeps overbuilding and overselling, the same thing will happen to them.

    • @ardikaputu

$580K means the cost (price) for buyers if they want to have one unit flat there. Not the cost of the contractor spent to built them.
But 98 sq meters with only 1 bedroom seems a waste of space, it could have more bedroom i guess.
