You’re misunderstanding. 5 years to test, research and develop different formulas, choose packaging, and forming the actual company (including hiring staff). 8 weeks to actual mass produce those lipsticks to sell. No idea why she needed them in such a short timeframe
I was confused too in 2019 because I couldn't understand why she was rushing her process so much. However, after hearing what we know now about her company I have a theory.
From what I've heard, Jaclyn isn't the real owner of Jaclyn Cosmetics. So, I'm assuming that the team that was working with Jaclyn kept delaying the launch until the parent company got tired.
Delaying the launch so much probably costed them a lot, they probably gave Jaclyn and her team a deadline to launch the brand and she just went with the lab that could have the lipsticks on time.

I don’t work in cosmetics so I don’t know the timelines, but I’ve worked plenty of places where a project is in the works for months or years and the the final product gets rushed through to meet the marketing deadlines. It makes for a stressful work environment but is not totally uncommon. It just really backfired for Jaclyn.
Lipstick gate was wild
Jaclyn will never, ever live this down. Despite the complete re-launch of the entire brand, I still won't go near her products. And I know that I'm not alone. There's so many great brands out there. There's nothing that she's doing that someone else isn't doing better. If not for Lipstick-gate, I definitely would've at least tried her stuff.

It's info you can get off of Google in a few seconds and them saying the actual name is risky legally, even tho people know which lab it was they can still sue for defamation or something similar. Its not worth the risk to mention it on a podcast when the info is available for everyone online.

I think it’s good that people don’t forget about all the awful things Jaclyn has done. People make mistakes and should be forgiven but this isn’t the only shitty thing she’s done. She shouldn’t be able to sell anything idk how anyone can trust her or support her. sucks because I do like her personality and want to trust her but her actions show her true colors and shouldn’t be ignored.
Glad I’m not really into makeup content like I was anymore. The “drama/tea channels” brought a lot of things to light but it killed it for a lot of us too. I don’t have the time or energy anymore for that kind of drama. The pandemic as bad as it was, really made me realize what was important.

I couldn't crank out a research project dissertation in eight weeks without cutting corners. There's no way you could import raw materials, refine those materials, produce components, get them to your warehouses, and sell them in that short amount of time without shit going wrong.
There was metal in the one I got. Sliced my lip open pretty good. Looked fine until I applied it but nope.
And to this day jacklyn still doesn’t care about the safety of her fans, her customers or even her friends, she only cares about herself and her money.

I think this is less about the development and sourcing aspect of the project and moreso not enough time for a line trial to catch these types of defects before 1st production. Many companies don’t see a line trial as a critical step in the development process until stuff like this happens ☹️

It's not Jaclyn Hills' fault. What business owner would put their whole business on the line for one person with out a contract? I feel for her, but it feels like there is a part if the story missing.
She literally explained everything how is it not partially jacklyn’s fault???? If you go into business with your FRIEND and then realize your friend is not doing their part…. How is it NOT their fault??? Jacklyn literally stopped replying to emails and cut communication with Marlena but somehow it’s Marlena’s fault when literally her company supplied everything. Even if the contract was implemented it would be worse for jacklyn in this situation however if this was YOUR friend would you not do the same? Or at least entertain the idea of “she’s my friend she wouldn’t screw me over maybe we don’t need a contract” and everything was going fine so if everything was going fine until the VERY END literally they had shade names the packaging, PRODUCT SITTING IN A WAREHOUSE FOR MONTHS WAITING TO SHIP OUT. Like how could it not be jacklyns fault???
