Job well done. . . . .I have just had the left-hand outer CV Joint let go. . . ..and I am about to dismantle it Its a bit easier with the lefthand as you dont have that centre axle and carrier. . . . . . .Always been a rear wheel drive man so this is new to me. . . Ours is a late 2006 Fiat Ducato 2.8L JTD Maxi. . . .done as a camper conversion. Loved to video and you have probably helped plenty of people out of a bad situation. Now I'd better make a start or it will never get done. Thanks John
Thanks John, it seems with these old campers that there's always something going wrong :) the upside of that is I now have a much better understanding of how the mechanics of a vehicle work because they're simple! and more tools :) Good luck with the job.
Fixing Up An Old Camper Btw heading to Ireland next May. . . But back to the van. . I had the Outer CV joint out in under an hour. . . But I had the use of A 3/4 drive Makita power ratchet. . . The joint had actually completely disintegrated. The only place I can get the CV is from Ireland (ironic isnt it).
Hi , great video showing we can all make mistakes im 72 and i have learnt by my own fixing cars/vans.Have you done a timing belt on 2.5 none turbo diesel Citreon/Talbot motorhome.I see you had a manual in video can you tell me where i can buy one that covers engine jobs. Thanks John.
Well I had replaced the left Cv driveshaft and covered about 5000ks and now the right hand side has let go so was expecting it. This time the shaft was available in Australia. . . . .Just going to put it in at the weekend. . . . .By the way I got to Ireland and had a great time. . . .My family is originally from Camolin , Ferns Area in County Wexford

@@johnmurphy8593 I’m from Mayo in the West. I always try to tidy up the shed to get the space to work around. We only have stone in our yard and it’s horrible lying on it even if it isn’t raining:)
Our Fiat Ducato Mobilvetta 1991 has the same steering knuckle design where the outer CV boot goes inside the knuckle making it impossible to change the CV boot with a stick-on boot because you can't fit the outer clamp in the tiny gap.
Thanks Marcos! It's a 1.9d not even turbo! The engine did fine but we were fully loaded up so it was really underpowered. It was stuff like the thermostat going in France and losing 5th gear around Germany/Denmark that really had us limping along. Fifth came back the next day but the change down can grind if you do it too quick. Apparently its common and is an uncomplicated fix so I'll probably have a go when I'm feeling brave!

That's mad! I end up getting most of the bits I need from coastal motorhomes in the UK :)
