I think the main difference between how people like EN vs JP Neuvilette is because JP VAs generally sound younger than they really are (Akira Ishida is in his 40s, yet his one voice that he uses for Ayato still fits someone quite young for his position). A lot of Genshin characters are younger than what the EN VAs make them sound like (looking at EN Diluc and Ayato who sounds like they're 40 when they're around mid 20s). But when more mature EN VAs voice the actual mature characters like Zhongli and Neuvilette, they hit really really well. Neuvilette in particular seems to have the opposite thing as Yanfei when comparing their JP and EN dubs. EN Yanfei with her cute delivery befits her youthful adeptus looks, while JP Yanfei's matter-of-fact delivery fits her lawyer profession better.
Quite disappointed that in EN the line "O tides, I have returned" being turned in to "The tides beckon". But at least in the JP dub they were able to keep it.

He is actually just important npc in the game last year for Halloween event (Hunchback of Notre Dame theme), but now he is playable this year (in JP version. For NA version it will be next year to playable). Fun fact, Neuvillette and Rollo actually just got banner ALMOST in the same day this year, Neuvillette first and then Rollo next day. So many JP players who play Genshin and twisted wonderland said this month is 神谷祭り(Kamiya Matsuri/Kamiya Festival) which I think it's really funny.
Though I respect your opinion, I disagree a lot. Neuvillete having Levi's voice actor from AOT does not suit him at all. It'd be much better if his voice actor was the same as Kakashi's from Naruto.

I read somewhere that the EN va wanted to redo his lines when he found out his character’s true personality but I’m not sure if this is true. I still think his performance was amazing and isn’t far from his character. Just wish people would stop shitting on either dubs. Just enjoy what you like
I'm a JP dub player, and I've been on 100% on EN Neuvillette during storyline. But hearing his JP combat voicelines, I stand corrected. It's 50/50 now. JP: - His voice during talk, especially on AQ fells flat sometimes. I'm a little disappointed how he doesn't have keigo/formal speech patterns, especially he's a very polite person. + His combat voicelines on the other hand feels better, giving a cold and tranquil judging vibe, for the lack of better term. EN: + His talking voice is deep, but also sweet and sincere. Everytime he apologies or talks about water it made me happy. I can also feel how despite his calm voicelines he's very emotional inside. - Almost none actually, but I really wish they keep the "O sea, I have returned" on his voicelines. Also his... grunts and "HMMMPH!" during his normal attacks is kinda out of place, but eeeh it's fine, you won't hear his normal attack voicelines anyway.
I think him not using keigo may come from his identity. He probably doesn’t feel or have the need to humble himself or elevate anyone and just goes with the standard tekneikei/teineigo.
Ray Chase did a marvelous job. Simply marvelous. It's not just that I think the tone of his voice better fits Neuvillette, it's his delivery as well. I actually prefer the JP versions for characters (especially for Alhaitham since I think his EN version is absolutely atrocious), but Ray is simply unbeatable. 11/10 👍

Which took me a bit by surprise cause now the Archon's power is not theirs originally. On another note, the fact that Neu doesn't age pass the looks of a 30 year old adult is a feature all other characters display. (In fact some look like they haven't pass their 20s -like Ganyu).

@@icon2719 He have more than 500 years of age. He isn't young. And even if you are talking about her appearance. He looks like having between 30 and 35 years old. His voice in Japanese look like a 20 year old boy. It doesn't fit. No one is being prejudicial. The Japanese VA is not bad, it Just doesn't fit his appearance, that's all.

He is part of one of the original Elemental dragons whose power was given to the Archons. He explained that on 4.1 Archon quest. Which took me a bit by surprise cause now the Archon's power is not theirs originally. On another note, the fact that Neu doesn't age pass the looks of a 30 year old adult is a feature all other characters display. (In fact some look like they haven't pass their 20s -like Ganyu).

Tha Japanese dub don't fit Neuvilette authority vibe, instead looks like a teenager voice. I love JP dubs but Neuvilette don't fit well.
JP - Doesn't fit since it sounded too young based on his appearance and age, no offense for those who loved JP language I do love them and the famous VA's they hired. But this one disappointed me I was hoping for a deep voice for him in JP but nah they hired a younger sounded VA.
EN - GOOOOoooooD noice deep and powerful charisma a true judge needs to have powerful tone of voice.
