Village of the Mallet in Ome - English subtitle /

The Borgo del Maglio is a member of the Sistema Museale di Valle Trompia.
The Borgo del Maglio is located on the southern border of the territory of Ome, in the locality of 'La Grotta', at the foot of the wooded slope of Mount Delma that reaches as far as the clearing that surrounds the houses. The village is crossed by the Molinara irrigation ditch, which moved the wheels of a grain mill and an iron mallet, probably existing since the 15th century. While the wheel of the mill (now occupied by a private dwelling) has now ceased to turn, forming a unit with the forge building, that of the mallet has been reactivated and its whirling motion can be observed inside the building.
In addition to the Maglio Averoldi, a forge-museum in which ironworking can still be witnessed today, the village is also home to the house in which Andrea Averoldi lived, which in May 2009 became the Casa Museo Pietro Malossi, housing the collections left in 2000 by the Brescian antiquarian to the Foundation that bears his name.
