It's great seeing Larry get all of this recognition. The goat Small Forward.

Because of Caitlin, now part of his kingdom, reminding us of him, Magic, & Jimmy Rayl, who led the way.
Great that in his last year in ABA he was able to get 3 for what he'd only been getting 2.

As a highschool player myself, I always thought Larry Legend was poetry in motion on the parquet. To me, for a thousand different reasons, highest court IQ of any peer, shooting, rebounds, assists, steals, passing, passing, passing, supreme confidence, backing up his trash talk and a true win at all cost team mentality. The Hick From French Lick is my choice for G.O.A.T., no question.

The fact is, Larry could jump high enough to slam dunk and high enough for his jump shot to be unblockable.

Completely dominated the game without elite athleticism. Incredible shooter, rebounder, passer, leader, winner.
Remains the only player in NBA history to retire averaging at least 20 pts, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for his career. The ONLY ONE.
    Let that sink in.

I was the staunchest Laker fan in the 80’s, I always thought Magic was better, but I feared everytime they had to play the Celtics because of Larry Bird. I routed heavily for Indiana State in 1979 because I loved Bird but. I hated the Celtics so When the Lakers took Magic I instantly loved him. Now we all love and appreciate what they both did for basketball in the 80’s, I love them both equally.

Larry had some argument for court smarts - from Bill.
I can't think of anyone else that was on the same level.
"He couldn't run, he couldn't jump, it was God's way of giving the rest of us a chance" or something close to that - attributed to Charles Barkley.
Or Kareem - "he was a slow white boy? He wore us out!"
