I was stationed in San Antonio for my basic training in the Air Force & we got tickets to go see the Spurs play the Celtics. Using the opportunity to call home on the pay phone & not realizing I was in the tunnel to the Celtics locker room, Larry Bird & the rest of the team walked by within a few feet of me! I froze in awe, the man was a giant compared to my 5' 5". After they were gone I whispered to my Mom, I just saw Larry Bird! It was an honor to get to see him play in person.
