Have fun!! It's almost always crowded, so don't worry about it, it's still going to be beautiful and memorable! If you can, stay overnight and explore early in the morning (before 10am) when it's not crowded. :-)

Something shocked me though: at some moments we can clearly see that there are closed gates where it is written private property but people opened the gates and went through as if it didn't matter to not respect locals properties in order to get the right picture... Can you tell us what happens really???

I'm not sure about October because we were there in late September, but we just got back from the Galápagos (entirely different part of the world, but also late October) and they had so much blooming bougainvillea there!
just back of santorini coud only get a master shot of me with 2 blue doms beyond was not far of church,rest of pics i had or people or selfie sticks destroying it i was just last week and expeted way less people in oktober but not i loved the island but it was to stressy for me mykonos was much easier and chiler. i think seriosly these kind of cities shoud not allow selfie sticks in certain areas.

Last Year it was extremely busy and crowded also in late september though! I drove to Oia 15 times, but couldn't find an available parkingspace anywhere close to the center, in the afternoon! Had to walk a couple of kilometers every time. (Still less crowded than in July -August though!!) Number of visitors increased every Year. They say in 2016 there where 60000 visits from China and in 2017 there where 600000 visitors from China,( and it i a very small Island!!) I love Santorini, Sooo spectacular and I will return this autumn.
