“Our Boys Are Home” - American Soldiers Returning Home (WW2 Footage, New York)

  • American soldiers returning home after the war to their beloved. I’ve seen that most videos portray their reunions almost depressing-like; however, it was without a doubt the happiest moment of their lives. This is in New York after the surrender of the Japanese in August, 1945. (VJ-Day).

Иван Милошевић Today’s liberal Americans think there are more than two genders, want to be called a certain pronoun, and don’t know which bathroom to use. Showing any form of patriotism is considered oppression in their eyes.

Hi Dylan, I'm not American but I am a British trans woman. Seeing this footage makes me proud of all the allied soldiers who stood up to Fascism, but not all patriotism is equal. Patriotism for your country standing up to evil is valid, using patriotism to denigrate and discriminate against others, or to subject your nation's will on another peaceful nation is not. I think you've fallen for a culture war and are seeing us painted with the same brush that many reactionary divisionary elements in politics desire.
Ask yourself, why did you feel the need to bring up trans people under a video showing victory over the Nazis? LGBTQ people (including trans and gender non-confirming folk) were the first to be jailed and killed by the Nazi regime in 1933. We should stand united in the name of freedom and liberty, for each citizen to live in the way that makes them happy, healthy, and comfortable. There is an ongoing culture war, as there has been for centuries, politicians will turn the populace against marginalised population to rile them up, make them scared, and to secure votes. From Jews, to Blacks, to Gays, and now trans people.
You also seem to be under the impression that trans people are a somewhat recent phenomenon, this is simply not true. We've been here for ages, even back in 1945. Many cultures around the world have practiced a "third gender". We are not your enemy.
"Divide and conquer" is their motto.
I hope you and yours are doing well.

A moment of silence for the ones that didn’t make it to their homes and fought for us to live the way we can today. A moment of silence for those who came back only to find their families dead, left, and their relationships drenched apart. What do they get from this war? NOTHING. Now they just sit there in veteran homes because they wasted their whole life fighting against nothing but other humans who had other opinions.

Fun Fact, WW2 actually had the lowest rate of PTSD of any war in history. This was due to the soldiers all talking about their experiences on the way home, and thus having no whiplash of a militarized zone then back to normal. THe long layover times have tried to be implemented in the military today, but with lesser results

@@sph9564 I don't know where you got that info but that's definitely not true and highly debatable, the stats you mentioned are estimated percentages of something that wasn't even recognized as a disorder until 1980, and only can speak to the small amount that looked for help, the majority never did, ask the surviving veterans about the PTSD almost all documentaries through out the last 60 years have vets saying they where all suffering form it many of them took decades to even talk about the war I remember one specifically said it took him 40 years to even mention it. We haven't mentioned the suicide rates and drug abuse that followed.
