- Very rare. The muathin took over from the Imaam at Masjid Ar Rajhi in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. The Imaam had a sore throat and could not continue with the prayers. This is why those with knowledge should always stand right behind the Imaam. They may need to correct him or takeover such as in this case. 28th Ramadan 1440 Qiyamul Layl prayers.

What was meant was it is mustahabb to have a (as in one), person of knowledge stand directly behind the Imam in case he needs to step up and take over, such as in situations like these. Nothing was said about reserving the first row for anyone in particular.

SubhanAllah the mercy of Allah swt is so great beyond words. Mercy towards the imam for instilling in him a lot of confidence and humbleness in order to make such a decision, mercy towards the muathin for giving him the oportunity for increased hasanaat and mercy towards the people standing in prayer for making their prayer smoother. Mercy for giving everybody who witnessed this video an example. I am sure we are not able to count the blessings.
Allah swt grant the imam shifa. Mercy towards the imam for having a lot people make dua for him and mercy on the people for having the angels make dua back for them. SubhanAllah it doesn't stop Allah's swt's mercy is a mercy in itself.
There is no other religion where their believers know the holy books by heart! That makes Islam religion so special !

A imam/leader who is not too proud to ask for assistance, the follower who would help the leader in good, followers who would listen to a leader, but when a leader made mistakes, they would correct him and the leader listen to the correction etc. There is so much lesson for how society should function just from how we do our prayer

This happened with me I was behind imam suddenly in 2nd rakat imam made some gesture to me and went off due to his wudhu problem I think I came forward and lead the remaining rakahs and completed the prayer... I didn't knew this but Allah put it in my mind and Isha got completed.... Then after that I confirmed with the hadith and found ok....

This guy doesn't appear to have abandoned the Prayers and there is no evidence for switching mid Prayer just to say a longer prayer.

The person standing just behind the Imam should be competent to lead the Salah in such emergency. This is the ruling ( masala). but many people do not know this and incompetently stand behind the Imam .

The muazins voice is superb
If a reason arises which prevents the imam from completing the prayer or from continuing as the imam, he may appoint someone to take over for him and complete the prayer with the congregation. This is the view of the majority of te scholars.
Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in al-Majmoo’ (4/142):
Ibn al-Mundhir narrated it from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab, ‘Ali, ‘Ilqimah, ‘Ata’, al-Hasan al-Basri, al-Nakha’i, al-Thawri, Maalik, ashaab al-ra’i and Ahmad, and he did not narrate from anyone that it is not permitted to appoint someone else to take over. End quote.
They quoted as evidence the fact that when ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) was stabbed as he was praying, he took the hand of ‘Abd al-Rahmaan ibn ‘Awf and made him move forward, and he led the people in the remainder of the prayer. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3700.
That was done in the presence of the Sahaabah and others, and no one objected, so there was consensus.
See: al-Mawsoo’ah al-Fiqhiyyah (3/252)
Secondly:
If the imam becomes unable to complete the prayer or to do any of the essential parts of the prayer, that is regarded as one of the excuses which make it permissible for him to appoint someone else to complete the congregational prayer.

@@LIVERZ I think the word coincidence is not the right word. Maybe u should say tawafuk. Coincidence means, “chance or luck, happen by itself, to imprudently occur”. Tawafuq means, “To be correlated with each other, to be in a pleasant coherence, correspondence and conformity with each other”.

Mashallah, btw this is Al rajhi masjid in riyadh which is the 3rd biggest masjid in saudi arabia and the person who was the muazzin got promoted to imam i believe as per i believe because i often go there for jummah prayer and have remembered the same recition of quran in namaz.

This is covered in Fiqh. The topic is on being Imam and leading prayer. There may come a situation where the Imam has to pass on the remaining Salah to someone else. This is why the people of the first row need to be ready. Only those with he knowledge can know what to do.
Allah bless them all, this is just 1 of the example why memorizing the Quran is a very good idea, also quickly as a challenge to the non Muslims is there any other faith that can do this, no books to read from no one else helping, the sheikh picked up exactly where the Imam has left and gracefully finished, ALLAH is the best of all planners.
