- I survive 3 days on whatever I can stuff into a 5 gallon pale (with the lid closed). I manage to fit some pretty cool things inside this odd shaped container including an axe, saw, and some pretty amazing traps. I will catch fish, trap animals, and build a shelter. Featuring Bass Pro Shops.

In a true stranded/emergency situation where you didn’t have a filter, the tarp water is preferable to the creek water for sure. But if you’ve got a filter and aren’t truly stranded there’s no way I’d drink water runoff just for a UA-cam video 😆
@@AdventuresMadeFromScratch BINGO! A tarp can be covered in all kinds of issues. Look at your car, you've got bird poop all over that thing, you wouldn't lick water off it, anymore than drink water from a ditch unfiltered.
All those "overnight bird droppings"...I guess birds don't poop in the creek? What about fish poop, raccoon poop?
Maybe just admit you made a mistake.
In an ACTUAL survival situation, with no other options, tarp water for sure.
Tarp rain water especially rain overnight, over creek water every single time. I think every survivalist would make the same decision!!
I'm not drinking any water without boiling it personally. If I had a life straw I would use it only for a travel situation.
So glad to see you feeling good enough to be back at it. Thanks
Why would you not harvest and save that rain water for drinking and cooking? Especially when seconds later you used your life straw to gather water. 😂
"Bird poop" 😅
@@ChirpyMikeI think I would take the potential for bird poop whatever potentially could collect on the tarp versus what is already in the Stream you don't know if a couple hundred feet up the stream from you a big carcass from an Elk or something could be in the water yes a LifeStraw does a lot for purifying but I'll take the the potentially less contaminated tarp water when it's available over creek water.
Dude, you drink bird poop? That's not healthy, man. You laugh at people who don't?

Let’s see your survival channel
Chris I would hope you remembered to pack some WOODOBO maybe in a plastic bag as not to take up much space? After it's only $ 5.00 US. It can make day old sunk taste good! Well maybe not, but everything else. You da man dude!
True! I didn't put any in the pail because it could attract pests which would be compelled to dig it up!
You had all that run off water from your tent why didn't you drink that
So very happy to see the new video, been missing you and your content, glad your back man, you're one of my all time favorites
Thanks for the video WB
Really loving this lil series. Always been a huge fan of these limited kit survival challenges. Hope to see more soon. Have a great day man!
Ive been watching you for years, live you and your family.
Love
Raccoons were considered food in the old days. As long as you remove the musk glands it taste pretty good when baked with sweet potatoes
Love these vids. No plug in mugs, no microwaves. Thank u for the content
Is that Spit roast grease pig or raccoon??
Don’t know why the comments are acting like rainwater is the second coming of Christ. If you have a lifestraw to drink from then the source of water doesn’t matter much (something you know already).
The tarp is dirty - it's been on the floor of my car for 2 years.
Hey your channel and you and modern selfreliance and GERAMY ARE GUINNESSES
Great video. I'd have drank that rain water that pooled on your tarp before hitting the creek. No sense wasting good rain water!
Raccoon is good. I'm nearly 70 years old. When I was young many families in the Ozarks ate Raccoon, and Ground Hog.
So glad you pointed out trapping isn't profitable anymore. To make 3,000 dollars a month you would need 1000 of those raccoons. That is hard to do even if they were overpopulated in that area. Everyone farms everything now. It is just the cheapest and most efficient way to do it.
I would gladly pay you 20 bucks for that pelt
Good video Chris. Your shelter seemed to hold up well in the rain you got! You drained a lot of water off of it. I'm happy that the Raccoon turned out good! I like how thorough you are when explaining things your doing since I'm not a hunter, I do learn things from you watching your videos pretty cool man!
A+ content, watch every single video. Big fan!
*The tarp is dirty - it's been on the floor of my car for 2 years.*
i chopped up a couple of raccoon in my time and they were always so greasy. like 3-4inch of fat all around! also the leather is also full of fat. i tried to run my pelt thru wood chips inside a tumbler for a while and even then when i touch it my hands are all oily. (fur was originally washed with dish soap 3times)
That racoon looked delicious!
Guys, guys, guys....the tarp was covered in bird, squirrel and raccoon poop...and chemicals......for some reason.
Everyone calm down
Ok, so I learned that everyone is totally into drinking tarp water - from any tarp, even if the tarp is covered in feces. I mean, if you can't see poop, it's for sure not in the tarp, or bugs. Do people re-use their grocery bags they used to bring home ground beef as drinking containers? It's clean! People watch too many survival shows...and forget about the guy who loses ALONE show because he gets gut rot from eating raw beaver he fleshes out cause he licks his fingers after, or the guy who drinks lake water because he's too lazy to boil it.
did you not see the long line of animals waiting to do their business on the tarp? it stretched around the block!
@@rkn3045 How many birds poop on your car?
@@TheWoodedBeardsman there was also Juan Pablo who won alone who never boiled his water.
I read somewhere that it was called famine food.
why didnt you just dip the lifestraw in the water on your tarp. rain water is pretty ok to drink.. would have save you the trip to get water ,.
Tarp water is not more safe to drink that creek water through a lifestraw, and the creek is full of water, whenever I need it.
Wish you can do what you do in other countrys not just in the usa
If the water is questionable in a stream like that, you can go 4 to 5 feet from it and dig a hole and wait. The water that seeps into that will be cleaner

giggity?
Can't believe that your buried survival supply didn't have weapons, knives, and A POT.
If you want bait bring peanut butter. It's more long term storable than apples and carrots.
Dude you doing this challenge for LONG TERM would be the awesome.
This is some "I got bored today and thought up a concept"
Pump master 760 and 50,000 rounds weigh nothing and feed you for years...
As long as you can boil water 🤦
Boiling water makes a racoon stew.
I can't WAIT to invite you to my place!
Racoon is good sir wdym? And ofc i understand 😅. Totally loved it ❤
I can't wait to see the next video of this and also I was wondering why didn't you just make a thing for the raccoon to where you can put it up on two sticks on one end of the spit that you could raise and lower but also have the fire smoking it underneath it all night instead of putting it up and hoping that it was still going to be good you could have just smoked it all night long and how come you just didn't rip a whole leg off and eat it to where you would get a whole bunch of food in you instead of little bites at a time? but anyways I can't wait to see the next one.
In Florida if you are going to build a tarp shelter, its gotta be tight. Definitely use some big zip ties for speed and ease, plenty of cross bracing and stake down those edges. We can get inches of rain and 50mph winds with very little warning. I prefer to hammock and use a small but sturdy one person backpacking tent for spare gear. If i build a big tarp shelter that's just for fun, but i don't want it to flood or blow away.
Nice harvest of the raccoon!
Seriously...throwing the clean rain water away to ugh...that's annoying
Just curious.... Why didn't you drink the water collected on the tent instead?
I say 5 gallon challange with a gun cause in reality if your bugging out your bringing all the guns and ammo with you. Just bring a rifle with and a side arm on your person. To me thats realistic.
True. Just not legal for anything small enough in that bucket where I live.
Why didn't you just drink the rain water before you removed it from your tarp???
So why didn't you drink it off your tent instead of dumping it???????????
Fun life buddy
You could always bug out with your dog. I would especially if i had a hunting dog
i honestly would have lifestrawed the water in the tarp from the rain over night
Maybe when you cook a New York who next time put it on like a Fork Branch
Bruh u just ate A member of the guardians of the galaxy
After you scrape do you tan the hides? That could raise the value and is not too time consuming if you just let the chemical processes do their work
Turning them into hats, belts gloves, that's the real money
I still doubt you would make anything close to minimum wage when all is factored in. There simply isn't an interest in fur at all. Nearly zero demand. Every step of the way is labor and time, nothing about it is easy.
@@TheWoodedBeardsman that's for sure you can hit up the rendezvous and the powwows in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho
My 70 year old uncles still do well with brain tan hides, and Elkhorn arrowhead napping

Raccoon is traditional cuisine in the American South
And its odd watching you be squimish eating something considering you eat just about anything but i totally get your hesitation. Haha 😆
You've literally ate wild dog on this channel. 🤣
Crow...Pigeon which isn't as wierd as Crow. I forget what else. 🤣
Raccoon is just a dirty animal. Like some animals are dirty, but raccoon is pretty high up there.

Love how the racoons taste good 😊👍
Should have saved the rain water!!!!!
Bzy eating trash pandas 😂😂😂😂😂😢
Even if there wasn't a way to fit in a metal container couldn't it have been easier to fit in a food grade plastic bag to collect water in? Then you could drink from the bag with the filter instead of needing to bend down to drink from the creek and you coul bring water with you so you didn't need to visit the water source everytime you were thirsty.
And great video BTW! I'm entertained!!!!
Just thinking you're capable of more...
Is this "Kathleeen"'s husband?
Is your son interested in joining you? That would be awesome!!
He's gearing up!
So your saying bobcat is not a food it's a fur weeeeellllllll son I'm telling you bobcat is Delicious 10 out of 10 you need to try it
Could you have not used the rain water on your tarp for drinking?
Yes, but you still need to purify it.
I’m betting in a “ bug- out” situation, you’re not going to be concerned about legalities on snaring a rabbit.
Empty all the water out of the tarp,...walk to the dirty water. And advertise 😂😂
Dude how come you are off camera when you eat the raccuum ?
People say I chew too loudly.
Not. Good. Video. Citing.
WHY DIDNT YOU USE THE RAIN WATER OFF THE TARP????
Because I have a life straw, and needed to remove the water to stop the tarp getting damaged.
Water run off from a new tarp is nasty. If I had a life straw as an option I would definitely use that rather than drink chemical flavored tarp water. In a true survival situation where the straw isn't an option. then yeah...tarp water it is.
@@mightymaxx1 In a desert, yes, you would drink the tarp rain water. Creek water is rain water....it's all the same, needs to be treated.
@@TheWoodedBeardsmanwell of course use the straw for sure... But why not start with the cleaner rain water? Not complaining or telling you how to survive. I am.genuinely interested.
Dude the tarp had all that potable water!
Rainwater isn't safe after it his a tarp - which can have bird poop or worse, on it.
Glad to see you back! All thats been coming out recently is the Australians "surviving" by taking their 500k boat to go deep sea fishing and drink coconuts island hopping😂 "surviving" like damn.. wonder what their vacations look like then

Back then most people passed away from ticks, fleas , or eating contaminated meat from animals that were infected by both like rabbit.

What temperature is considered cold enough for the meat to be okay to sit out overnight?
10C and below, I would say that would be ok. Beaver. muskrat in cold water is fine up to 25C, fur on, no damage to the pelt. Deer up to 10-20C overnight in shade, cleaned and packed right away....BUT, this may spoil in direct sunlight. You really need to use your nose, and judgement, and everything after matters, meat needs to be eaten right away or frozen. As it will begin to spoil as soon as you open it up, provide it with any air. If the meat just falls apart when you touch it...even if it smells ok, it's not. Time after meat spoils is crucial, because it's not the meat that's the problem, it's the BACTERIA which is literally pooping out toxins on the meat that is the problem - even if you cook it, the toxins are still there, and they will cause you problems.
I heard that porcupine was ok eating. But probably not good for trapping right?
Porcupine is legal all year.
Great show as always. Thank you.
32:58 😂 !!??
would love a community post if you got sick or not
I haven't gotten sick using the lifestraw yet!
good luck with c 63
What are you hoping to catch in the conni bear trap?
I have been asked by the owner to remove certain pest species from the property, so anything goes. Skunk, I will process down for bait, raccoon is edible, but not preferred, possum might wander in. Some accidentals would be tasty like rabbit, or squirrel.
I’ve got the foothold traps🔥
Happy to be your company on your adventures.
Is there a reason you didn't drink the rain water you collected on the tarp overnight? They use to serve Raccoon at the White House many many years ago.
Tarp could have a higher concentration of bacteria, such as bird droppings washing down the tarp of squirrel, mouse, and certainly bacteria concentration in it. Either way, water needs to be treated.
@@TheWoodedBeardsman Thanks for the info... That is a good point.
Awesome and outstanding as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Why not drink the rain water on the tarp first? With the straw of course.
why not collect the tarp water and drink that?
The creek is full of rainwater.
@@TheWoodedBeardsman rain water of questionable contamination status. Tarp water is good to go
@@rkn3045 How many bugs washed into the tarp? Go lick water off your car...it's just car tarp water!
@@TheWoodedBeardsman if it were a survival situation I'd lick puddled water off a car before I drank from a creek. we've seen you eat random found carcasses. Now you're too good for tarp water? You've changed, man. Next time edit out the tarp water and you won't have to spend your may long weekend responding to us heathens
I’m pretty sure I told you already. I really admire your prowess with survival and outdoors Chris 🐸🍺🔪🔥
Wouldnt the rain water you dumped off tent been drinkable water?
Hunh. You just dumped a gallon of pure rainwater off your tarp...then, used your lifestraw on the creek. Please explain?. Sorry, I missed your opening comment.makes sense.
The tarp isn't clean. There is bird poop all over it.
Ferrets would fit in a 5 gallon bucket.
But they would die when you buried it.
@@TheWoodedBeardsman I know you mentioned trying to fit a dog in and I looked over at my ferret and thought, he will fit and kill small animals, then bring it back to show you.
An outstanding first video this series. I’ll be looking forward to the next one. Cheers Chris.🤙
"lovely!!!" Lol. Awesome video
I can't believe you dumped rainwater
