Figured this out years ago when I started brewing. It’s really hard to work through three five gallon kegs that are above 6.5% by yourself. It would knock me out of commission for 2 days.

For me it has always made me paranoid. It is more like tripping than relaxing. When I was younger and dumber I saw the paranoia as a "fun" kind of fear like a roller-coaster. As I grew up I couldn't stand it at all. It went from being "fun-scary" to just being an unpleasant cross between a bad trip (without the visuals) and a panic attack. From what I've read my experience is not that unusual. More of my cannabinoid receptors are excitatory than inhibitory, so it is not relaxing for me. I am physically unable to enjoy weed. I'm in the minority, but not a very rare one.
That said, I am glad it has become legal or decriminalized in so many places. It never should have been illegal to begin with. If you are an adult and can keep it off the road, that should be your right.
I don't think the stronger weed of today is any worse that the weaker weed of yesterday. Portions are adjusted. Joints just got replaced with one-hits. It's better healthwise because you are breathing less tar and smoke to get the same effect.
I'm dutch.. it's always been freely available here.. I even lived in Amsterdam for 2 years.. But in international company I'm always the only one who's never done weed..
Bro it was always strong in Humboldt. And way better in the past, now it's all mutt weed crossed to the max no land race strains anymore.
It's called growing up. We used to try and get high as hell or drunker than a skunk. Now we're just happy with a little bit. If it weren't for hair follicle tests I'd still take a few puffs here and there.
I feel like this happened almost over night. Suddenly it just wasn't fun anymore, you couldn't chill anymore. Like, talk to people, rip a bong and just keep talking were you left off only with a bigger smile. With alcohol you can have a few with your friends all evening. Then call it a night, walk home, pound a pint of water and everything is more or less fine. There are no bad surprises, only bad decisions. Now take weed and try "having a few". Won't go well.
Which sucks big time because wouldn't it be great if weed was as easy going as you thought it was. No carbs, no calories, no hangover and what not.
But it also may very well be me that changed and not the weed.
I'm with ya on the weed, but I love some strong ass beers. Love the winter lineup here in Canada, where everyone breaks out the imperial stouts, barleywines, Belgian tripels and quads. Even in the summer, I tend to gravitate more towards strong single and double IPAS. I like not having to drink 4 beers to get a buzz on, let me sip on one or two and that's all I need for the night.

Here I am, watching this doing dabs, listening to two guys talk about how weed got too powerful lol. Will say though, I do feel like I am an anomaly. I don't know whether it's my tolerance or what (probably been at it for a good 15 years now), but I can do 5 dabs and continue to work productively all day and I don't smell like I just hotboxed a car. That being said, I agree with you and almost always go for taste and scent over potency. After all, the potency doesn't really matter to me so I would rather just enjoy the other qualities.
You are exactly right when you say weed is my coffee. Except I like coffee too loo.
I'm a cannabis industry guy and a brewer. Nothing like a skunky IPA and a nice indica at Happy Hour. Not liking the holiness of those who don't.
Beer tastes good. There is pleasure in drinking it. Weed is just there to get it did and get high. Nothing there for me.
The problem is you can’t drink it.
I know some of my coworkers use pot like its tobacco, I can kinda see it on their face but they function just fine.
Id rather have a premium cigar, I don't care for the smell/taste of pot anymore
I like dark beers during the winter months. I like about 5% ABV because I am more mature than I once was. Getting really drunk no longer amuses me. Weed is fine if that is what you dig but I dropped it a long time ago. To each his/her own, I guess.
Smoked for years and years and quit a while ago. We just got local delivery in my area so I bought a few kinds and it knocked me flat on my ass.
Now I just take one hit on a Saturday night and fall asleep on the couch.

I literally just take like... a hit or two, and eat a tiny edible at night. I can't really do much during the day if I'm high, I just really like it to sleep. Eh, I'm an old lady with insomnia and migraines 😅
we've been experimenting with brewing with cannabis since 2017-2018, mostly hash and solventless extracts, specifically for the terpene profile, and not the buzz. lots of trial and errors. Many cultivars terpene profiles pair so well with certain beers, and hops. which would make sense as cannabis and hops are related. for example if we have a cultivar with a tropical terp profile we might infuse it to something like a hazy, or a heavily fruited smoothie style beer. If we have something a bit more sweet or hashy it pairs well with something like a stout. I started a company called terps & burps and in the future we hope to go official and get into distro. I've had this concept since 2015 and really hope to see the craft cannabis and beer community merge more in the future.

I brew beer as my career but like ganja far more than beer. It's pretty simple really, weed is stronger for sure than it used to be, so smoke less lol.
Pro Tip: If you are a diabetic, be really careful if you get the munchies. It may be deadly, like when it killed Butternuts, er......Butterstuff, i mean Buttercup! ☠️

im a huge binge drinker, but cant smoke weed at all. I also cant go on any spinning rides or i throw up violently, so maybe its related? it feels the same way to me.... violent motion sickness

For me Weed was strongest in the 90's, I never really liked Weed or Beer that had really high THC or ABV.

I felt this in my soul. From the weed to the beer strength.
It's not so much of a question of it being too strong or not, it's a question of how clean it is. A lot of it nowadays is synthetic and tainted with dangerous stuff.
Weed today vs weed in the early 2000's is akin to the difference between chugging out of a bottle of 190 proof everclear and having a few session beers. I quit in 2009 and tried to go back just a few years later and things were already out of hand with the rise of dispensary level stuff. It induced anxiety rather than alleviated it, so I gave up. Until 2018 when the farm bill happened which retooled what was considered marijuana (illegal) and what was considered industrial hemp (legal). Now the legal hemp scene is booming and you can find delicious flower bred with low to no THC. Tastes great, smells amazing, looks fantastic, provides you a nice relaxing feeling but you're not useless on it. I'm not talking delta 8 shit or any other unnaturally augmented flower. That stuff's just extracted cannabinoids sprayed on hemp. Skip the bullshit and just try CBD flower.
I won't shill for any single company but I will promote the r/hempflowers reddit community. If you're interested you can find vetted vendors that legally ship to most if not every state in the US.
In high school I was the last one to start smoking bud and now I feel like I'm the last one still blazin. Now that I can brew my own beer maybe growing is next.
This is why I need someone to work with me….I’m trying to do it myself….but I’m working on a beer recipe that has THC in it but like the old school amount you’re talking. Best of both worlds.

100millagrams is 10% of a gram, so calculating the amount of thc is the product your buying is easy.
17% gram is 170mg per gram
24% gram is 240mg per gram
And so on....
OK the other thing to take into account is what most people smoked back in the day was maybe 3%-7% thc maybe 10% at tops and then also have to take into account how much you would actually smoke. Like a gram joint would get X amount of people high at 6% so 6mg ect...
Also how many beers of the thc thinking of drinking? If just one then back to normal beer might want to make it stronger then a beer where you plan to drink all night.

decarb 2oz and add to your boil just like hops.The oil in your mash will absorb the thc. But this is not beer you drink by the six pack.

Grow all my own. Don't really like smoking anymore. I'm 39. Edibles in the kitchen. Decarb the flower then bake with coconut oil. Strain in a hop sock. Then use in gummies, brownies or whatever. Indica for the chill, sativa for nervous in my experience

Smoked every night for 20 years just to be able to get to sleep, then about 4 years ago it just stopped helping me fall asleep, and started making me mad paranoid and anxious so I gave it away. I miss the smell and taste of it, especially as its legal now in Thailand and there are cafes and dispensaries on every corner

Not me, I need the strongest weed I can. I have way too high of a tolerance for literally everything, even just regular medicine. It takes way more for me to get high so I need way more 😭
