Primeval is our whole 2000's nostalgia from the tv show to the amazing AMVs on the old good UA-cam that we used and still do listen since we were kids.

Well UA-cam randomly recommended this video but I cant be mad. Its rare enough to see Primeval pop up outside my normal friend circle, much less the books which just add a whole different level of obscurity. Decent video, definitely agree that Id love to see the franchise continue in a literary form at least, tho Ive yet to get my hands on any besides Shadow of the Jaguar

I remember The Lost Island being delivered about a week before it was supposed to be released, so I was able to take it to a book signing in October 2008. Got the book signed by Hannah Spearritt (Abby), Andrew-Lee Potts (Connor), Lucy Brown (Claudia/Jenny), Tim Haines and Adrian Hodges (the show's producers) and also got to see exclusive clips for series three before it aired. Probably still one of the best days out I've ever had.

If Primeval was never to come back for a 6th season I would absolutely love to see these books be adapted into a film or show format.
They could possibly even be animated rather than live action.

I remember watching Primeval way back when I was a kid, I might have to check these out! Lost Island especially sounds cool, I've always said dinosaur horror is an underrated genre so that sounds pretty wicked!

As I searched online, I found out that there were four other books, albeit novelisations of episodes in season 1 and 2, their titles being: A Rip in Time, Dangerous Dimension, The Lost Predator, and Fight for Survival. They were aimed to kids 12 and above, unlike the ones you talked about which were for older audiences.

I glad they visit some other countries in books, because in show if I remember correctly they never go outside British (or Canadian if we speaking New World) borders. Also thank you for keeping this fandom alive with your content. I really hope one day we will actually saw continuation or reboot of these series of some sort.

This is a fantastic video reviewing and explaining the Primeval novels. Great for anyone who didn’t know about the novels.
    My ranking:
    1. Extinction Event
    2. Fire and Water
    3. The Lost Island
    4. Shadow of the Jaguar
Now we just need to bring back Primeval Evolved, episode novelisation books, Totally Primeval comics and more Novels!

These four books are still sitting on my bookshelf, lol. Nice to see them getting some love! I'd say #3 (Extinction Event) is my favorite from memory, but Shadow of the Jaguar might take the spot with my tastes as they are now. Might have to reread them sometime soon!

I’ve discovered those books about 3 year ago and after reading extinction event I was like: „This is way better then the show was.“
I’m glad that I found them because it kicked me off to finally start working of my own novel from my original universe (that is still hugely based on Primeval) I’m glad that I have found this video because now I know that Primeval Fanbase still exist and i have that drive to finish that novel (I’ve ended in half)
For those who are interested. The story is a bout a young guy who moves to a Canada to work under C.G.R.T. (Canadian Gate Research Teams) to keep watch under the national park. Plot revolves around the group of people that have technology to open those “gates” (Anomalies) and travels back in time to make do a safari with dinosaurs and the team of newbies that have to stop them before they mess up the timeline.

I have wrote bunch of short stories set in the same universe that trying to catch that “Primeval Episode atmosphere” so I will translate some and post theme here. It’s the same concept as the show. Anomaly appears and something comes to our century, so the team has to return it safely and quietly back.

So, after having finished all 4 books over the summer, imma give my thoughts on each of the books while TRYING to avoid as many spoilers as possible:
SOTJ: Dr Hadley is kinda right in that this may not be the ideal book to start with. By no means is it horrible, but it is kinda the weakest entry of the 4. The mystery surrounding Pacha Kamaq is tragically not at the forefront for, I wanna say, at least 40% of the book and it does feature most of the gang either basically vacationing in Peru or hiking and trying to avoid Peruvian authorities trying to arrest or kill them. Ending can also be a bit unsatisfying. Overall, 3.8/5 experience
TLI: Pretty intense story and DEFINITELY very horrifying. Arguably also the goriest of all the stories. Also very action oriented for like the last 5 chapters, Lester even shows up to the island to lend a hand, major treat. Ending is also pretty bittersweet and feeds pretty well into the paranoia and plot about hunting the mole in season 2, and also Stephen’s fall. 4.2/5
EE: This is the longest story of the bunch so prepare for a few days with this one. Despite the slower pace of the story and the fact it is more of a mystery/journey than a traditional Primeval style adventure where everyone is hunting for creatures a good portion of the time (Baba Yaga doesn’t actually make another appearance until the last few chapters, but makes up for it with a scene that greatly resembles Lester’s close call with the future predator), it is managed to be kept engaging with a pseudo spy plot. Also Koshkin is the MVP of this story, you’ll very likely have a love-hate relationship with this badass jerk-ass. Conclusion of the story CAN possibly be seen as a plot hole in regards to how to deal with anomalies, but we can very much chalk this up to lack of resources that the gang only had access to in this story. 4.5/5
FAW: I’m probably biased because Danny became one of my fav characters in the show but I very much had more fun reading about his and Lester’s ordeal more in this story, but I still enjoyed what the rest of the ARC crew was dealing with. Anyone who enjoyed the Leek subplot from season 2 will probably enjoy where this story goes. Also the 2nd most action packed and we once again see Lester out in the field. Connor and Abby also are the MVPS in the end. Be prepared tho cuz this is the only story where Cutter and Jenny aren’t present. 4.8/5

I didn't hate it but it wasn't the same as the OG, granted there was also the fact that it was made and set in Canada (where I live despite being originally from Mexico) so it created a nice "close to home" feel. The creature design was too different and most of the dinosaurs looked very "plain jane" and not stylized enough like in the OG show, that difference in art direction really created a sense of disconnect because no way a fully feathered Utahraptor is running around simultaneous to the edgy Primeval Raptor.
