Scotty not following your normal UA-cam auto reviewer. He’s just doing his thing and still has more subs than most of them. That’s GOAT stuff. Keep keeping it real Scotty
Scotty the G.O.A.T. Just ask all the other UA-cam creators in the automotive space that either say bad things about him or say nothing at all and shrug... When they can't give you a compliment you know why that is.
285K on my 03 Lexus ES300 and the motor doesn’t even burn oil. Runs like a champ. I’ve replaced suspension parts, emissions parts, AC condenser, radiator, front axles, etc to keep it running like new, but all these parts were replaced with way more miles than most cars can get out of them. Just an example of the quality.
I have a 2005 Toyota Tacoma four-door V6 SR5 pre-runner no engine or transmission repair 394,000 miles turned over today starter at 3:25 alternator at 3:26 normal wear maintenance Don don’t forget to change the oil in the air filters it makes a difference. I’ve done all my own maintenance.
I'm so grateful to have accidentally stumbled on your Channel! I'm shopping around for another used car again. You have given me a lot of good points to consider.
We owned a 2000 crv wifes car. She loved it. Liked the space between front seats where her purse fit perfect. We gave car to her mother. New SUV’s should leave that space open like this suv. Location is important for having purse near you
I have a 2002 CRV since new. Other than regular maintenance, I’ve replaced only 3 parts, which are all sensors: an air / fuel ratio sensor, an O2 sensor and a knock sensor. Everything else is original.
As someone who owns a 99 CR-V 5 speed, it's one of the best vehicles I've ever owned. Endless aftermarket/JDM options, 4WD and can't forget the picnic table. I swapped in a full Type R motor and mated it to the 4WD transmission. I'll never want another vehicle as long as I live 😎
My relatives have put their Sequoia through hell and back, with trips all over the country and Canada, daily commuting ... 240k miles and running like a beast. Fantastic vehicle.
Sometimes it has to do more with the Model rather than the make. My 1973 Ford Ranchero went 500k [351C V8] miles with timing chain change, distributor, and at 480k miles a transmission . At 500k would not pass California strict emissions laws, so sold for $400 price I paid for the transmission work. My 1956 Ford w/ 223cid inline six went over 500k with just a valve spring change , freeze plugs and of course maintenance items clutch and brakes. It did have the same Allstate battery that came with the car in 1973. Sold in 1993 .I purchased from the original owner. The voltage regulator failed on 10-14-76, 20 years to the day. The regulator was stamped 10-14 -56 !
My step dad had an 02 when i was in high School. I raced that thing against a bunch of other SUVs and trucks lol. Also drove through my rich neighbors lawns. It was a reliable beast. And the fact that the rear window rolled all the way down is awesome
Yep had an original 97 CR-V 270,000 miles sold it working fine for 2K then bought another newer 08 CR-V plenty of road touring work done on the car... saved me a fortune
You want fuel economy, and don’t need a big vehicle, I recommend a Toyota Corella. I’ve had mine in Iowa for going on 2 years and absolutely no problems with it. Yes I had to do basic maintenance, tires and battery, but that’s it. I’ve put over 20k on it and averaged 30mpg city and 40mpg highway. Not the smoothest ride, but I can say being Iowa, winter driving is horrible. It has no trouble though when everyone else is stuck, including 4 wheel drive!
My first new car was a 1975 Toyota Corolla. 4 speed, no air, no radio even. Base price was $2711. Dealer installed an AM radio and it was still under 3k out the door. Drove the daylights out of that little car then sold it to my dad.
@@kkarllwt I’m 6ft tall and have no problem getting in and out of it. I love being able to fold down the rear seat and doubling my cargo space. For my wife and I, it’s a perfect car.
I own a 95 Celica and I just bought a 2006 Lexus GS300 all because of Scotty here and I don't even live in the US where they are a lot more popular and easier to fix because mechanics are familiar with them.
I got a 95 Honda Prelude. If I had known that the 95 Celica had front wheel drive, I would have picked that over the Prelude. I am guessing it would have had more trunk space also, with its hatchback. That generation was the most beautiful Celica ever.
i have a 2014 ford f-150. v-6. 315,000 miles. runs fine.was a fleet truck when we got it. no rust. rides nice. i had to put a starter on it. that is it.
Just sold our 97 crv 122,000 miles had it since new. Was a great vehicle. Be sure. If it's real time four-wheel drive, use Honda rear end fluid and change it. It will make a difference. Otherwise very reliable car. Had to fix the wires through the driver door to the controllers. That was an issue and the ignition switch but minor stuff compared to these new ones. Have a Prius and a Ridgeline now. Hope they do as well.
Got my hands on the last 2023 Toyota 4x4 SR5 Tacoma V6 on the dealership lot in late 2023, for a bargain, at $39,000. My only complaint, not great on fuel, I do drive to work round trip at 110 straightway miles.
Man, I would love that little Mazda standard with that sweet sounding engine, but I’m a family man now so it’s a Honda CRV for me. Specially because I live in Wisconsin where we get a ton of snow so all wheel drive is kind of king.
The only thing about the Mazda Miata that I didn't like about it was that you had to have relatively tiny feet if you were going to drive the manual, which is what I wanted. However, my size 14s and a Mazda Miata with a clutch, brake and accelerator pedal don't work very well together.
I have a 99 CR-V, AWD, 5 speed manual. 365k. I'm the 2nd owner, 1st owner is my ex wife. She sold it to me when the CEL came on and the Honda dealership told her it had a burnt valve. That was 125k ago.
@@happyerzya A guy in my office has a 2018 CR-V with 80k on it. Blown head gasket. Honda's are not what they used to be. Only Toyota or Mazda for me now.
I have a 99 CR-V with over 312,000 miles on it. But I've put a lot of money into it to keep it running. I only paid $1800 for it . But I've put more than $8,000 into it. It's ugly, but it runs really well. I asked my wife, "If you could have any car you want, what would it be?" She said, "This one."
i have a 2000 4Runner 240k + miles - 4 cyl 5 speed - a little dinged up, fixed all leaks, tire a good - cant part with it even after a random guy offered me 2 $2500 …
In short, it seems that older vehicles with less modern technology are most reliable and best to drive (beaters or not). I have an 05 Ford Escape over 200k miles. But I wanting know your thoughts on a 2011 Mercury Mariner Premire Edition ( American Luxury) small suv ?
No more Hondas for me since they joined the CVT insanity. I can't be paid to own a Nissan either. I had the most stress in my life owning a Nissan Rogue with a CVT. Nissan paid me back every penny I paid for that car because the alternative is their having to pay my lawyer $350/hour if they chose to litigate.
Have a Ford Fusion Hybrid with eCVT (Toyota Tech) with 405k miles on it. Didn't even change the trans fluid as often. It is a 2017 model, driven very often.
I am searching for a low mileage luxury car that does not require premium gas. The price difference for premium is very significant (approx $1 per gallon). I do not mind spending money, but I DO MIND getting ripped off. The only options that I can find are a Lexus ES350 of a Volvo model with the T5 engine. Are those the only choices? Really?
I used to think that Toyota, Honda, and other Japanese cars are such high quality that they last such a long time, that could cause them to go out of business, but then I also realized that here in America we have terrible drivers!😂
hello, i need some help, i wasnt planning to be in the market for a car but my 2005 e320 just starded leaking oil and last month i was reparing the cooling system so my visits are now monthy to the mechanic so I am look for a used car as a second one (we are 3 people in the family sharing 1 so...) the fincial sitiaion isnt the best however i have an eye on mazda 3 2018 asking price is 13.5k and for some reason the 2019 imported car (not driven on my counter yet) is 21k$. so i think i have a good deal on that mazda yet i question if i should go for toyota corola since i have no idea how mazdas repair parts costs on the long run.
I'd much rather have a tatty reliable car than a newer car that I'd owe money on. There is so much peace of mind having no debt and perhaps a few savings just in case a replacement car is eventually needed. Why pay more

It's ugly, but it runs really well. I asked my wife, "If you could have any car you want, what would it be?" She said, "This one."
Great deal
She have a sister?😅
She's a keeper! Wife sounds nice, too.
Has Scotty ever recommended buying a car worth more than 3k?
Haha, my car is 21yrs 246,000 Acura mdx, doing pretty well still
Autobot Camshaft was a ‘70s Mazda RX-7
Autobot Downshift was an ‘86 Toyota Supra
Long time Toyota owner here but I switched to Mercedes Benz with an I-6 or V8 and haven’t looked back.
An incredible gas waste low mpg 12
Good info
My friend has a honda crv in 2016 with 84,000 Miles, and it burning oil big time.I believe that's not true all cars have problems!
i have a 2000 4Runner 240k + miles - 4 cyl 5 speed - a little dinged up, fixed all leaks, tire a good - cant part with it even after a random guy offered me 2
$2500 …
It would be interesting to see if there is any brand spanking new cars Scotty could recommend?
In short, it seems that older vehicles with less modern technology are most reliable and best to drive (beaters or not). I have an 05 Ford Escape over 200k miles. But I wanting know your thoughts on a 2011 Mercury Mariner Premire Edition ( American Luxury) small suv ?
2000 CRV
2003 Miata
2007 Sequoia
No more Hondas for me since they joined the CVT insanity. I can't be paid to own a Nissan either. I had the most stress in my life owning a Nissan Rogue with a CVT. Nissan paid me back every penny I paid for that car because the alternative is their having to pay my lawyer $350/hour if they chose to litigate.
Some Hondas still have automatic, not all have gone to CVT, 😊
Have a Ford Fusion Hybrid with eCVT (Toyota Tech) with 405k miles on it. Didn't even change the trans fluid as often. It is a 2017 model, driven very often.
CVTS 💩💩💩💩
Cvt’s ❤️❤️❤️
So which CRV years should I avoid?
My cars:
-‘95 4th Gen Honda Prelude
-2001 2nd Gen Toyota Rav4
-2020 Mazda CX-3 (paid in cash)
I never buy any American car.
In uk the windscreen in the kinda would need to be replaced it would fail mot
How do modern Mazdas compare to the old ones?
Hey Scotty can I use that CRF 505 for diesel Mercedes E300 1999
I learned so much from Scotty's videos during the pandemic. Won't buy any other brand unless I can afford a Lexus or Acura. Thanks Scotty!!
Not to sure about these new ones seems to be alot of recalls on all 😮
In LOVE with my 2000SE Mazda Miata. Will NEVER sell it until I can no longer drive. 🎉😂
Stick Shift ?
@@ACDC4LIFE Yep-6 Speed!
@@GerryONeil I figured that, their AT transmissions are garbage.
Scotty, why do you never talk about Mitsubishi? I have an outlander sport and it's a great small suv.
LOL, they make garbage!!!
The Godfather of car buying
In the Middle East we don’t have all these cars gust Corolla 1.6L
I have a 2005 Honda Pilot with 289.998 miles. And NO A/C!!!
ahhh here we go again my friend scotty with the repeat videos haha
Ah, that explains the 6-20 registration expiration on the 19 year old Miata...
Subaru would be #4 their cars tend to last as well and are decently made, except the ones with the 6 cylinder engines
Transmission issues at 100K Trust me! I will never buy another "Subrub"
Really?
As the owner of a 1999 AWD CRV with 280k miles on it, I’m convinced this might be the overall best vehicle ever built.
Locks and window might be caused by faulty switch.
How long before I change my manual transmission gear oil My mechanic keeps telling me it's a lifetime oil?
I will never buy a Honda again. Modern Hondas are JUNK. CVTs, direct injection issues, recalls all over the place.
It's like you have to seek out the older models to avoid that stuff, and they are much harder to find now.😒
New any is crap
Only brand I'd consider is Mazda. Honda and especially Toyota are too far gone from my consideration.
Tomorrow: rip
“I’ve got sticks all over the place.”

🤣🤣🤣🤣
Due to cost of living, Most of us only have a beater car.
Im surprised you didn't mention Lexus
“Counter steer so that it steers straight” 😂
Lots of old Corvettes around, pretty reliable.
I used to think that Toyota, Honda, and other Japanese cars are such high quality that they last such a long time, that could cause them to go out of business, but then I also realized that here in America we have terrible drivers!😂
I have a 2014 Acura RDX. What do you think about them? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Excellent car
If you buy a newer HONDA V6 you will have GDI and VCM. Not ideal for engine longevity.
Mr Kilmer make me want to buy a mk1 crv😅
1:00 Radiator
hello, i need some help, i wasnt planning to be in the market for a car but my 2005 e320 just starded leaking oil and last month i was reparing the cooling system so my visits are now monthy to the mechanic so I am look for a used car as a second one (we are 3 people in the family sharing 1 so...) the fincial sitiaion isnt the best however i have an eye on mazda 3 2018 asking price is 13.5k and for some reason the 2019 imported car (not driven on my counter yet) is 21k$. so i think i have a good deal on that mazda yet i question if i should go for toyota corola since i have no idea how mazdas repair parts costs on the long run.
I'd much rather have a tatty reliable car than a newer car that I'd owe money on. There is so much peace of mind having no debt and perhaps a few savings just in case a replacement car is eventually needed. Why pay more
Lexus all day
Only 1 car brand that you won't go wrong. Buy Scotty Wheels.
The only car brand I buy is Stellantis! Just kidding!
Honda best one 🔝💯
Old man buying a Honda shocker
Makes me feel old but that's ok never forget good old quality
Your channel is a source of endless inspiration. Thank you for your hard work!😾🍺♠️
