And everything last night from the sets, to the choreography to each and every character exceeded our expectations in every way, so kick off those dancing shoes while I attempt to tackle this list.
Kicking things off on a high note (literally), Jessie J slayed the opening number as she made it perfectly clear that Grease was THE word last night. She strutted her stuff through each set, taking El Nino by storm, slaying those vocals and even picking up the original Frenchie and Doody, played by Didi Conn and Barry Pearl, along the way. Take a look:
And we couldn’t be off to a better start, but the show must go on. We were once again wowed as we make our way down the set to the morning announcement with Principal McGee and Blanche, who’s quick wit and one liners couldn’t have been more on point.
Moving right along to Patty Simcox, AKA the bad seed of Rydell according to Rizzo, and the girl we all love to hate, or hate to love, but in our opinion, she didn’t miss a beat the entire show.
Ok, well maybe a few. But speaking of not missing a single beat, we’ve made our way to cheer tryouts when Sandy, played by Julianne Hough, owned her try out, and for once, Patty was speechless.
And according to Principal McGee, if you can’t be an athlete, then be an athletic supporter… ok, well, there are probably better things to be, like a supporting character, because every single character had their shining moment, including one of the pink ladies, Jan, played by Kether Donohue.

My heart breaks for Vanessa when I found out that she lost her dad the night before the show last night. I did the same thing when my dad died of cancer. I went back to school the next day after my dad's funeral. It was hard, but I survived that day. I'm sure Vanessa's dad is very proud of her baby & he was there in spirit to cheer her on. God bless her for not only doing the best performance of her career, but also being a very strong woman in a time of sorry.

Soooo, they're just not gonna acknowledge Aaron for more than 3 seconds? I mean everyone did an exceptional job, but in saying this, they all should get equal amounts of attention. Even though Aaron's not as well known for television appearances, he freaking killed it that night! I truly felt that he was a love sick teen, torn between two worlds with raging hormones. And let's not get started on his sweet angelic voice (especially for a guy). Shout out to Vanessa she was a real trooper :) and Jordon for captivating our hearts through pure talent. But seriously give Aaron a chance, he's very talented :)

It's cause he's from Broadway and no one outside our theatre circle likes Broadway. It's sad he doesn't get more recognition.
I get that he's not the most "notable name" for a channel like this, but come on! Aaron Tveit deserved more than a 10 second shout out before moving on to describe Julianne, Keke, Kether, Jordan, and Vanessa in greater detail. Aaron killed his performance!
+ShakespeareanWannabe Aaron always great, and a layered, more human performance of a cool James Dean than Travolta's iconic caricature of Elvis. Some of those mannerisms and body language stayed, though. Tough job, but thought Tviet nailed it. His is not a pop voice, a beautiful range, and in spots could have had the mic as amped as the others. His dancing and physicality a nice surprise.
+ShakespeareanWannabe I'm a huge Aaron fan, and a broadway geek, but Aaron wasn't my favorite part of this show. I love him as a performer, and loved him in other shows he's done, and his parts in the show were tight. However, I was glad they spent time on others, specifically Elle(Patty) because she was probably my favorite part of the entire thing. But, I'm probably biased, being an even bigger Heathers the musical fanatic. Aaron kind of looked like Julianne's dad or uncle at only a few points of the show. On stage you can get away with a lot more of an age gap, but on HD tv, not really. Although that was probably his makeup artist's fault.
But, there was nothing wrong with his performance, and I'm just happy they even gave him a mention, or I would have said the same thing as you.
+ShakespeareanWannabe --Yes, I know he's only like 4 years away from Julianne, but I'm talking about perceived age... and as Julianne was playing late teen, Aaron could have been playing late 20s early 30s at those points where he looked much older.

Many GREASE fans are saying "I STILL PREFER THE ORIGINAL", well if you must know nothing can't beat the ORIGINAL. The Production of GREASE LIVE mixed the movie and the musical broadway together and presented us this wonderful rendition. It may not be what you have expected it to be but they did an amazing job of doing their own interpretation. If you LOATHE GREASE LIVE, then I respect that but for the people like me that liked it GOOD JOB for being part of the history.
GREASE LIVE was the best there may had been some teeny tiny tweaks but all in all the production was amazing and hands down for the cast, crew and the whole staff who did victoriously amazing. #BOWDOWN!
Hi, Mixko! I agree with you that the cast, crew and the whole staff did an amazing job in producing GREASE LIVE. This production should not be compared to the original. As you mentioned nothing can't beat the original. People should understand the difference between live and doing a movie production. With live they only got to do it once. Grease Live interpretation mixed with Broadway musical was fantastic. I enjoyed watching the show. I was amazed at Julianne Hough talents. She can dance, she can act and she can sing! Bravo Julianne!
I really agree with you it was really good. But I don't think they incorporated the Real Broadway style enough. This version is really is like a very kid-friendly version of original grease with new parts added.

Vanessa slayed the role of Rizzo. I've seen many people go grease the musical but Vanessa was the best Rizzo by far! She was so close to being the original Rizzo but with her twist on it. Good job sweetie.
For me, the best of the show were Aaron Tviet and Vanessa Hudgens. Aaron (as always) put on such a great performance and Vanessa has improved so much.
Jordan Fisher's performance of Those Magic Changes, melts my heart every single time I listen to it. His voice is so angelic!
im so tired of people saying that aaron is not as good as john. guess what...they are different performers and the entire cast did an amazing job. it was so fun to watch, and yes i wish she said more about him because he really did a great job with dancing, singing, and acting. can't wait to watch it again this weekend online ha

Seeing the original Frenchy and Doody brought so many feels to the surface and I started crying at the final curtain call with the T bird and Pink ladies Jacket SO MANY FEELS

I think Julianne Hough was cuter than Olivia Newton-John as Sandy. I was 7-8 yrs old when Grease came out and I was OBSESSED! I loved the live show and how it mixed the Broadway Show and the movie!!!

But still, he deserves recognition, he's worked hard for it and I'm tired of seeing people say that he should have played Kenickie. This was not a recreation of the movie, folks. It was the directors' own take on the story and Aaron was not playing Jon, he was playing Danny. AND HE SLAYED *bows and exits*

Grease Live was so amazing! everything from the sets to the dancing to the singing was on point. not only is the cast is amazing but i have to give it to the camera crew and production!
My favorite part was Vanessa Hudgens singing "There are worse things I could do" especially for the fact tat she was able to go on and perform under her state of mind I would not have been able to hold it together so I am very proud of her. also shout out to Keke Palmer and Jordan Fisher and the rest of the cast cuz they killed it too. Loved Grease Live!

Those magic changes made me cry so much nostalgia, props to Jordan fisher who gave me the chills x100
I loved it. I love the original movie but this Grease live was a mix of the movie and the play. It was great. I hand jived and sang along to it all. I used to listen to the soundtrack so many times so I even sang along to "Freddie My Love" and "Those Magic Changes " which I loved that they were performed in this Live version. I loved it all.

Summer Nights! Hand Jive at the Prom! Oh, freakin' EVERYTHING! I watched the movie version in the theater 4 times ...a favorite teen memory of mine, so seeing this fresh, live performance has me over the moon! Bravo to ALL involved with GREASE! :)

I loved everything Aaron did. He is absolutely amazing. I wish there was more about him in here besides the one little mention of him before they talk about Jan. Everything they mentioned was great though. I absolutely loved the show, and people are right. You can't compare a movie to a musical because there are so many things you can do in a movie that don't really work well with a live show. Also, I don't think there will every be two productions of Grease that are done exactly the same because most people are probably going to combine aspects from the musical and the movie which might change up the storyline, songs, and other things. I'm not trying to say that other people's opinions are bad or wrong. My old high school did Grease this year as their musical and I went to see it, and it was a different show from the movie and Grease Live, so it's kind of hard to compare.

One of my favorite moments that was not mentioned in this video is that not 1 but 3 Teen Angels which is my favorite 1990's group of all time, Boyz II Men. Love them.

Vanessa literally slayed as Rizzo and they couldn't have picked a better suitor for the role of Sandy. But my favorite part overall was Jordan Fisher's solo for 'Those Magic Changes'. Two things I noticed during the show...during Jessie J's opening number, there are posters from the original GREASE on the walls of the corridor as she meets with Barry Pearl and Didi Conn, and that the middle girl from The Brady Bunch TV show(s), Eve Plumb, was also in the cast.
