you champion, of the dozens and dozens of demos of this thing you are the only one who has run it through a PA speaker to demo it's live potential. Most of the demo vid guys just use it as a DI and play with the reverb and software for half an hour.
I love how stoked you are on this thing, Dagan. I need this so bad for my 100w Marshall
It makes a world of difference, did you get it?
love that you mention the JMP 1
Got one and love it. I can finally crank the JCM800 through this. Amazing product
What it sounda like in headphone ??
Only if it’s a 50w one or you can pull a pair of valves on the JCM’s?...
The Captor X is rated at 100w RMS, and the wattage ratings on Marshall heads are totally clean no distortion, if you push a 100w Marshall into overdrive, they’ll put out like 120w.
did you get it?
@@JamesFordMusic I did. I use it all the time. The direct out and cab selection makes recording straight into your Interface a piece of cake.
Attenuator function still requires a cabinet to be connected. It just knocks off 20 or 38dB. The Load Box function is where you don't connect a cabinet
Finally able to crank up those amps without killing your ears.
As usual, Great video!!!!
Man that is awesome
Please do a video on when to buy these type of things
I love your guitar
Sounds awesome! Are all the sounds with the same Peavy amp?
When you added a channel in GarageBand what did you select? Did you just select an audio track or a guitar track thanks in advance for your help
Back in the early 80's at the Burns Howff in Glasgow I used to have a 50W Marshall that literally drowned out our bands 200 W PA at anything above 4!! Had to go back to my old 100W H&H head on "valve sound" Terrible! Wish I'd had one of these things then. That said I think I need one now for recording and PMT are doing a good price :)
Had a power brake in the ‘80s and killed one of my ‘82 jcm800, first the tubes kept frying and then a transformer, hopefully the tech has improved over the years!
So how long can I play an 100 watt 2205 without fear of smoke?
P.S. already ordered one so ease my stress brother
@@camerondunsmore4586 ouch!
Using the torpedo X now for a little bit into an Apollo interface for Protools, so far so good
My cabs are coming back in about month so we shall see, fingers crossed
But the two notes control app is cool, lots of interesting features.
I’ve just been trying to find a solution
to counter my dislike for my Axe Fx 3 mkii that was supposed to blow my mind and
ease the burden of the tube rigs weight and finicky behavior, been switching around for years
And always seem to go back to the MarshallsI just don’t want to blow them up at what gear costs these days
Can I use this thing to run a tube amp head to headphones to play quietly in bedroom?
that same software comes with the Captor 8 just with less cabs right?
Which version would u recommend a fender twin reverb?
I have a blackstar ID core V3 40, so no head or Cab. So will I need one of these???
Does this box take your 25 watt 6505 and make it even louder throught the pa than it would if you ran direct from 6505 to the cab.
No, it's the opposite of a power amp.
Can you connect 2 cabs to it?
Hey great video. Will this connect to a combo amp?
There are two options 8 ohm and 16 ohm, you do need to buy the correct one. The cable from the speakers plugs right to the "speaker out" jack and you need a cable to send from the head to the red jack - or for silent play, just a cable from the head to the red jack and headphones. Hope you try it, these are a lot of fun, and really great for both attenuation and silent play, as well as recording.
i have watched this video 8,204 times!
Looks like a great unit, it better be for the $$$. Just 1 thing, my amp definitely does not welcome my phone very kindly sitting a top of it
But how about on a Dean Markley CD 60 on a PODHD500X?
Did you have the Captor X wired in stereo into the desk?
Sounds like the Twin Tracker wasn't sounding properly, if it was wired in mono you won't hear the second channel :/
Whats The pedal de xperience with fender amps? Ive deem People complaing about The clipping on it.
That guitar was made for Dagan.
Is it possible to just use this as an attenuator/load box and *not* get cab simulations, apps, etc.? I wanted to plug this into my Headrush modeler, then pick the Headrush's cab/mic simulations, effect pedals, etc., and then into my Focusrite. I hate apps and like to keep it simple.
Yes
Anybody know if this would work with a Tone King Gremlin combo?, even on the lowest setting it's still booming.
Do they work with Combo Amps?
If you have a speaker out.
Can you use this on a Mesa Boogie combo amp??
You can use it on any tube amp - combo or head. Just order the one that matches your speaker load. They are available in 4, 8, or 16 ohms.
@@apacheworrier3776 Perfect! Thank you very much! 👍
@@apacheworrier3776 how do you find out which ohm level to get for your amp??
@@D7oDR6KpRgqkcqlKAkCWjvlDy4x
The speaker output Jack on the amp will be labeled 4, 8, or 16 ohm. It may have multiple outputs so you can use different cabinets. If that’s the case, just make sure you get a load box that matches the output you intend to use. In a combo amp, your speaker should have the ohm load printed on it.
I have this, and my amp is still too loud 😢😢😢😢
Captor-X or UA OX? What a dilemma.
@hawg427 I was thinking the same thing in the past and gave both a try and the Captor X was by far the best. It was cheaper, easy to use, smaller, you can get 3rd party IR for it and just sounded better to me. It’s the best bit of kit I own.
Half the price and more versatile. Some say the ox sounds better, but the x sounds amazing so who cares if the ox sounds 3% better??
The OX is sonically superior but can’t do all this, and it’s twice the price
Check out Julian Lage and his gear it’s night and day
but Universal Audio already has enough of my bread
So with all the goodies it’s the Two Notes for me
@@furryz666 Just ordered my Two Notes Captor-X yesterday.
looks cool but I wouldn't know how to use it....I'm an idiot.....i have 2 amps....1 Line 6 and a 5150 Lunchbox with 3 different pedals....I'm GOOD!!!!!!!
So do I need to buy monitors for this thing? how the hell can you play live with no cabinet. I'm sorry but I am just a guy that grew up on traditional tube heads and cabs
This plugs in between your amplifier (speaker output) and the PA system, adding a cab sim adjustment to the tone. So that's how you use it live with no cab.
So just use the xlr outs to the pa ?
