Wow.. I have heard of them showing up in the coastal bend but it’s definitely a rare event, so amazing that it came close enough to touch

What a beautiful moment! The manatee is a peaceful but threatened species. They love fresh water and seem so gentle but can be very dangerous if you are not trained to handle them properly in the water. Another problem is... "By Robert C. Jones Jr., A massive seagrass die-off in the Indian River Lagoon, coupled with continued threats from boating strikes, is putting these gentle sea cows in peril once again."
If you give manatees an artificial source of fresh water they will continue to linger and can sometimes stay too long in our cooler waters. The manatee's can get caught in the cooler waters in this area and can die if they are not able to be rescued and returned to Florida (or Mexico) in a short amount of time. The manatee use so much of their energy trying to stay warm that they do not have the energy to return home for the winter/cooler months. They are definitely a wonderful creature to behold especially if you've never seen one up close before. Another danger of exposing manatees to humans that are giving them an artificial fresh water source or feeding or touching them is they lose that natural fear of humans that tells them to stay away and can receive fatal (deadly) blows from boat propellers by being drawn to that unnatural source. I love these giant sea creatures and get very excited when I see them so it's "only human" (lol) to want to get closer. We just want to remember they are still a wild animal that needs to maintain their natural instincts to survive. Thank you for the wonderful video I've never seen them drink like that before. Very cool... ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you for the kind words, yes it was a once in a lifetime experience to see up close, in waters so far from their natural habitat
