Chemical spore. I love those clamps. Get the tool and erase decades of hate that we both had. And dont use rtv on machined surfaces unless damaged . It makes.010 -.040 plus uneven surface increasing wear on the water pump bearing. ❤
Great video i liked the explination and the walk-through only thing that i would chnage is to compare the water pumps inside. And make sure they are flowing the same way. I one had a tracher that has worked on mustang all his life, and he never checked the flow of the water pumps but the firstt time he did he noticed that it was supposed to flow the opposite way. But the water pump was the exact same on the outside.
Thanks, It did not cross my mind about a reverse flow problem. Plus I worked on this car for free. Belongs to my friends, girlfriend. They bought the parts and I just put them in. Also replaced the thermostat housing.
@@chemicalspore changed a Ford water pump on an old 351cid bronco years back, about 23 bolts with 5 different sizes (not counting the pulley bolts!) A Chevy 350? 4 bolts, same size not counting the pulley bolts. WTH Ford?
Awesome video and good work, but those screw clamps will cause issues. the spring clamp is there for the the hoses to expand and contrast and stay tight. the ones with the screw wont allow that and cause it to eventually blow up. good video but bad call on the clamps
If the bearings are shot and it's putting too much resistance on the belt it could be possible, but highly unlikely, pop the belt off a pulley and give things a spin by hand, you'll know right away if there's a problem.
Update. I got the pulley off!! Thanks for the help. Now I have a new problem. There seems to be a ac hose or something in the way of one of the water pump bolts. My 8mm socket is a little too fat to correctly go on the bolt and I don't wanna strip it. Any advice would greatly help.
Hey, just wanted to let you know, Karen passed her health inspection this month and added a keto friendly crab menu! She’s itching for you to try it out!
How did u put back the lower radiator hose i can't figure out how to put it back because when I put it back it makes contact with the serpentine belt and its gonna cut the hose
I had a quick question my engine was steaming but im not sure if its the water pump or if it’s the lower radiator hose? all my coolant is gone tho i dont see any leaks do you know what can be the problem? im thinking the water pump might need to be replaced?
Take the belt off the pump and turn the pulley. If it squeaks it needs repacing. Also check the thermostat housing. If you have a mustang this year or similiar, the are notorious for leaking from thermostat housing. I ended replacing both on this car.
Ok I have squealing squeaking chirping noise on mine, replaced belt, idler pulley and tensioner pulley but nothing has worked. Could it be the power steering pump/pulley? Since I got it realigned and was told I have a leak. Question is say it is the powering pump, so I have to replace everything including the pulley? Same goes for the water pump? Thanks
Nice vid , I haven’t noticed any leaks but my pump makes a terrible hamster noise for like 2 min in the morning, u think I need to replace the whole pump or just the pulley ?

What kind of sealant did you use for the water pump? 4:47
Permatex gasket maker

Wat size are the waterpump bolts?
Thanks bro. I mistakenly forgot to take off the pulley before taking off the water pump but I used a table vise with a cloth to hold it still.
Lesson learned. Don't get a Ford? 🤣🤣 Just kidding. Thanks Spore and God bless! 😁👍
No no, do not get a Ford. You are right lol

It was a bad call for my friend getting a mustang. 🤣
Running silicon hoses will fix that

Very nice video! Thanks for the intro
If you could help..... can a bad alternator cause the water pump not to function right ?
only if the water pump is electric

I can't get the four 10mm bolts off my water pump pulley. It spins around when I try to losen them.
Keep the belt on, try to have some one tighten on the tensioner pulley with a breaker bar while you loosen the bolts.

@@Dadlife87 i would have to see the situation, sounds like the best thing to do is remove the hose or use a 8mm wrench
Cool video boss as i was driving my car i under my hood and i notice was leak from the motor under i believe it the water pump? Should i replace it
if you do not replace it, it can leak on to your drive belt and cause it to wear out quicker, Yes replace it

If you have over 100 thousand miles i would replace the water pump. Old pumps leak coolant onto the belt.
Very nice how to!
Thank you very much

Best to replace the whole thing. Water pumps leak on purpose, to let you know that they go bad. Sounds like that thing is on its way out.
@@chemicalspore it was the pump I replaced it myself watching this, thanks
good job bud
Did u go with motocraft? Was it made in China or America? If I have dried up seepage but no issues would u suggest replacing it?
It was not motorcraft. The car belongs to a friend. She bought the part.
Great video. Thank you. 👊🏻
You are welcome, thank you for stopping by.
Your Milwaukee electric ratchet can losing and tighten the water pump pulley bolts without the belt being on. Saves a lot of time.
that is what I ended up doing, but I dont take chances. Like to make sure everything is sound.
Hi can you please do a video of power washing your engine bay. I got coolant splashed all over the place.
Just use gunk engine foam cleaner and a hose. Don't spray the alternator or spark plugs/coil packs. Do not use a pressure washer
