Great idea for a list. One we really like that I would add is Planet Unkown. Plays up to 6, tile laying, sci fi, simultaneous turns. And for one you mentioned Space Base, there is an expansion that you can only get direct from AEG called Genesis. It just adds more stuff, which is great.
Definitely agree an Twilight Struggle and Twilight Imperium. I also have the same 'issue' with Twilight Imperium you are having; need to get to the table but need to get the time. A few other games I have that might fit this category are Star Wars Rebellion, Star Trek Fleet Captains, Here I Stand and Virgin Queen (both by GMT), Successors, and Hannibal (and Hamilcar).
Yeah I had 3rd edition TI for about 5 years before I finally got my kids to play it. However, now that it is in our yearly Bracket contest tourney we should be able to get it to table once or twice a year
People likely want to look at the follow mechanism on BGG. There's so many great games which use it. I still love some of the early games which use it, ie San Juan and Glory to Rome.
A few of my favorites that are related to each other and not on your favorites list: Puerto Rico, Race for the Galaxy, and San Juan. I like how most people usually get to follow along and part of the fun of the choices you make is trying to decide which action you need versus the one that you don't mind just tagging along with. I'm not 100% sure that this fits your list since the idea of whose "turn" it is a little nebulous, one person makes a decision and everyone else gets to make a related decision--does the "turn" pass along after the leader makes the decision, making it a wholly different turn? Or because the leader is making the decision is it their turn and everyone just gets to respond to the leader? Of course my favorite TCG, Magic, also offers lots of choices to be made on your opponent's turn, including playing a certain class of cards, to offer them a surprise, if you're playing a deck that supports that kind of gameplay.
Cool theme for a list! Burning Banners allows for slick cantrip spells to be played on other players' turns. Negotiation in John Company is insanely good. Star Trek Captain's Chair features reactions that trigger upon opponent (or solo 'bot) actions.
Great list. I'm mostly a simultaneous turn/action selection guy because of the added drama, but getting people invested into each other's turn is the next best thing, coming from Magic. Specially from positive interaction or negotiation. The Mistborn deckbuilder has a hint of that, which seems rare in the genre despite existing in Dominion. I'm looking forward to trying Moonrakers and Twilight Struggle the most.
Boonlake is a nice eurogame with this kind of feature. Each turn the active player does a primary action and then everyone gets to do a secondary action. Makes it feel like the game is moving forward at a pleasant pace. As far as other mechanisms go, it’s an interesting mix of expanding your influence over a map and building a tableau of cards.
Good list. I would have Eminent Domain on my list for it's a fun space game has a follow system. When the 1st player plays action cards to do things, everyone else can choose to follow that action by playing their action cards.

@@brownrhythms It’s fun to stay engaged when it’s not your turn, for sure. Thanks.
thx, didn't know the mechanism name.

Haven't played Mistborn but heard good things. Moonrakers and TS are both great!

Solid list. I was a little surprised by the absence of Cosmic Encounter, but I've seen that that one isn't for everyone. Pity.

TI is the best with PoK and the codexes…. If you have 5 like minded friends that don’t dilly dally.
Yeah, PoK is a lot of fun.

Good list! Don’t forget playing pesky action cards on another player’s turn in TI4. 😎
@@c4r6amd01 Indeed!
Agree again, TI 4th edition is the best!
@@jamesstricklerii5384 Great Game!
Interesting list. There's so many games, where it's very tedious to just wait for your own turn. But why do you keep saying "machi kAro"?
Because its fun to say it like that.
I thought you were going to share the story when you screwed me over on #3. I'm still not-0% pissed about that.
