@gatrwrks - Probably this weekend, the cleaned up fan is sitting in pieces on my dining room table. Still need to clean out the duct and plenum chamber.
@1944johndeerel - Yeah this fan is pretty quiet, all you hear is rushing air - kind of a "whooshing" sound. I've seen fans similar to yours installed, they really do scream with that 3000 RPM rotational speed!
@V8Jagnut - I don't think this motor would be overloaded, they have grease filters on these little rinky dink builders' grade hoods. The "fan" in those is powered by a tiny little c-frame motor. Also, the filter is common on a lot of kitchen duty NuTone vent fans like this one.
that looks just like my Nautilus 6" exhaust fan when its pulled out of the housing. same style blades even. i think they are torrington blades if i recall.
@dburrigh well my Nautilus can probably peform close to how your 8" Nutone does in moving alot of air, my nautilus makes up for the size difference with its RPM's. so yeah its kinda loud
@xctome - The duct to the roof vent had gotten knocked off when we had the roof redone, we cleaned it and put it back in place. So it is vented to outside.
Thank you for this video! My girlfriend and I are remodeling our kitchen and are looking for a ceiling flush exhaust fan to put above our slide-in, flattop range (~31 in. width) - it would need to be able to suck up cooking smoke/grease from ~4.5 - 5 ft. above. Additionally, we don't intend on putting in a hood cap - just the fan in the ceiling. Do you think something like this would be a viable option for our situation?
@dburrigh yep mine does infact spin clockwise. i also think yours would be much quieter if mine was installed like yours is. you have the larger blade diameter and also mine spins at 3000rpm .
Any solutions, for the outside flap freezing, I live in Canada and in the winter it freezes, I love this fan because it works well in exhausting, can you help?
You said you were going to show us cleaning it! I can't find out how to take it apart after I get the screw out!
@1944johndeerel - Yeah the blade style is the same, but I think your Nautilus is clockwise rotation. This one is counter-clockwise.
@1944johndeerel - These blades are just stamped "NuTone".

it should be. You just need plenty of airflow and to be sure to duct the air outside.
1957! Wow!

@gatrwrks - Video is processing now man.

Mine doesn't have a backdraft damper on it. Where is yours - on the outside vent?
thats a nice fan. if you put a filter in it could overload the motor
`good lord that thing looks horible
@dburrigh ok then
That blade...wow...so dirty!
so boring
As are you, you did choose to watch it.
