Mate, you are so cool. I see myself in you when I watch your videos. I used to make such trips nearly 40 years ago, with a TT600, 40l tank and similar luggage like you. Of course no drone, no mobile phone those days. I went to Portugal and also to Turkey, had similar experiences like you. These are memories you cannot buy for money, continue your videos and have lots of fun! One day you will be 58 like me and look back at this! All the best!!
Happy to hear it brings back memories for you while i make them for me 🤗 glad I can share this with the people on UA-cam 🙌🏼 thanks for watching Thomas 🤙🏼
Looking forward to your next adventure once the Honda is fixed, this is one of the most enjoyable and easy to watch bike travel channels, keep up the great work Marc, all the best from here in the UK.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇩🇪
It seems your set up works well for you, mate. Looking forward to see what the mechanic says about the engine and hoping it won’t cost an arm and leg. 🇦🇺🤙🏼
I would highly recommend Kriega bags for your motorcycle. They are durable, scalable, waterproof, and easy to install. I used the US 30 bag last spring on a road trip from San Diego to Seattle and back and couldn't have been happier with it. They are on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. And thanks for sharing your travels!
I just bought Enduristan luggage. The rear Monsoon panniers can be clipped and locked onto the lower tubing rack you have. There is also a throw over set but I like the individual bags and locking system. The tube they say should be 18 mm. I have purchased from MotorStorm in Italy they were cheaper then here in Australia and a standard postage rate of $56 Australian . They Also have a waterproof backpack with a water bladder. The gear manufactured i think in Austria or Sweden by some bike guys. Very strong shell some sort of plastic/rubber material but 3 layers and you can buy internal bags for the panniers. Keep up the honest vlogs. That Autobarn experience would of been horrendous. Cheers.

I use “Wolfman” bags, (tank bag, duffel bags) they are pretty good and they have lasted me the longest so far. Everything inside keeps dry even without the rain liner. It is an American company that only makes bags for motorcycles so they do know what you need and the materials are very good.
Thanks for this particular video Marc. It answered many questions about the practical questions of “What do you need for the trip?” and “What do you take along with you during the trip?”

Thanks for the interesting information Marc on your set up, very enlightening. It is always interesting as to how other people set up their luggage, we all have a different take on things. I myself use soft panniers, Andy Strapz , an Australian brand, light and durable, I fit all my camping gear in one side, including my tent which I keep my inner tent and fly in separate dry bags, that way if the fly is wet it will not get the inner wet, it also allows me to pack the tent in the pannier easier, the poles only just fit height wise but can still roll the top of the pannier down enough for a good seal. My other pannier has tools and al the other stuff I may need and my seat bag has clothes and every thing I may need to stay in a hotel for the night. I use lockable steel core straps to secure the panniers to the bike so I can just crab the seat bag with what I need for one night and not have to carry the whole lot into a room. I also have a small tank bag for carrying smaller handy items and it sits in a good spot so I can run charging cables into it when needed. Hey Marc I might make some smart-ass remarks but I took your advice and bought an electric heated vest. it's awesome thanks for your info. safe travels
Excellent, I'm glad to see you already got plans for this year, as for the saddle bags,,, have you checked Viking bags? I know someone with a Harley that swears by them, or, Shad hard panniers and top box, I got them on my bike and they're 100% waterproof. Can't wait for the next adventure, see you soon 👍
Regarding the bags it's depending on your demands. If you still want rack mounted bags there are few top brands like Lone rider, Mosko moto etc... but they are also very heavy. About 6kg for each bag. I choosed Giant loop RTW panniers that have the same capacity and half the weight. So if you want to go light weight that might be an option for you as well.
Nice video Marc. In our island, purchasing anything online is very expensive.......lots of taxes. And everything motorcycle here, is expensive too ! It is possible to leave your home, visit the furthest points of our island all in the same day, and return home before it is dark ! I have an FZ25 Yamaha with a 14 litre tank. To make such a trip will cost no more than 2 tankfuls. Our room for adventure is very limited. Anywhere you go there are people in your face. But you certainly do not need warm clothes. Hope you get the Honda fixed soon. Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
Yeah I know it’s a very small country and taking a ferry to Venezuela is possible but probably a bit too dangerous to travel, is it? Hope you can make it over to Europe one day, it’s great for Motorcycling 🤗 thanks for watching the videos I will keep them coming 🙌🏼
@@MarcTravels Yes. At the moment, there is no maritime travel between Venezuela and our country. Lots of Venezuelans living in our country, because of the hardships there. And it might be risky travelling there. Dangerous people and extremely long lines for expensive gasoline. It used to be such a lovely country. Caracas had a huge motorcycle population. In the years gone by, I used to carry groups of people on tour. Socialism does not work in today"s world. Trinidad & Tobago
@@MarcTravels I have a maternal aunt married to a German, living in Julich. They have invited me more than once. I once bought a BMW R1150RT from Horn BMW, and my uncle shipped it to me. Over the years, I was disappointed by the reliability of the RT, and I regretted buying it. I sold it last year with 68,000kms for a quarter of what it cost me in 2004. Never again ! Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
Enjoyed all the episodes from driving in the freezing cold from Berlin all the way to Portugal. Camping in horrible weather, driving in horrible weather. Nop this trip was not a luxury walk in the park. But your home and safe which is the most important part.
Hello Marc, there are so many options for soft bags! Some more expensive than others but if you get a new bike, whatever bags you might decide on for the Dominator they (the brackets) might not work if you change bike, and that could be another expense! I am certain that you will figure out what's best for you and the bike! Cheers and thank you for your wonderful videos! And Happy Easter to you and your family!
Eurostan Blizzards ( get the large ) shaped like a sock 🧦. Works well on Small to medium ADV / dual sport bikes , I have the mediums VERY fantastic construction.
Cool setup, looks well organized 👍 As far bags go, I’ve been using Wolfman gear for side bags & my tank bag, it’s held up well for the past 2 years. Hope all goes well with the Honda, Cheers! 🤘
Hi Marc,i so Happy you are on home!!!i see all of tour last adventure. For your panniers i,m suggest you 21brothers,lets see their web and chosse your solution. Hiya Marc, check out the Lomo range of dry bags and soft pannier set, I have just purchased some kit from them for my trip to France in June. Incredible value and superb quality too…..travel safe buddy and can’t wait to hear how the Honda is after your trip to the repair shop……
Bye
Oh my friend I am so sorry that I just find you . Just saw all of your videos with your troubles on the bike . I had many Honda bikes of this era ... I did actually had your little Japanese cousin of yours the AX1 250 ... From the very first video I did realise that is the chain tensioner...Those 90s Hondas share the same problems... all of them had issues with chain tensioner and of course regulator ( on the electronic part of the system of course) . Even now if you change it with a brand new automatic cam chain tensioner is a problem that will soon come back. There is an easy fix though you can jam the tensioner with a nut you actually make it a NON automatic and you fix your problem for ever ... And when regulator fails (and this will happen to ) you can put one from Africa twin and then you are good to go ... Those are the most common failures I had on my AX 1 , on my CB400 SUPER FOUR, VF 400 ... the cam tensioner issue were on my cbr 600 to but not the regulator problem (at least will I had the bike ) ... I hope even now I did help you a little bit ..
Hi Marc 🙂 Side bags are very important, and they must be of good quality. SW-MOTECH and Hepco & Becker are the best brand, and come from Germany. Last year I went to Pirmasens, to visit the farm of Hepco & Becker. A very good brand!
No emergency tire repair kit with some plugs and some co2 cartridges? It takes up hardly any space and is a life saver. 😉 I got a flat tire a couple of weeks ago (a nail made it in my 2000 km young back tire😖). Fortunately it happened in my local village and not on a long trip. But I learned my lesson and now I have it on me all the time, so I can at least make it home or to the next tire repair shop. Racked up some 1600 km on my Triumph Street Triple R during the last 4 days so I get a good impression now what real touring is like. Could have done more but had some obligations….. Still have to find out what to bring with me on multi day tours. And gaining more experience the more I ride. Also know by now I bought the right bike (for me). As after a solid 7 hours of riding I was not tired at all, nor did I have any pains nor got overpowered by the bike at all.
Cool 👍🏼 and yes, since I have tubes I have some patches with me and tire levers, it’s in my tool pannier on the right side 🤗 thanks for tuning in mate 🤙🏼
@@MarcTravels you didn’t mention that. 😉. And no problemo. 🇪🇸. I am learning from all those youtube videos (also learning what is nonsense btw) and could put a lot of it into practice the last 4 days. Followed some clearly more experienced riders on similar bikes for a short while and felt my bike was more than capable of following or even bettering their driving. But I couldn’t. But that is fine. Performance is for the race track and it is nice to have a bike with a lot of reserves so I don’t have to go near it.
Hi Marc! Hope you've been well. Sold my Yam on Friday and got me a '94 BMW F650 on a bargain on Sunday. She's running great with a lovely pair of micron mufflers, not too loud, but a great purr. Might take her for a spin in Europe, once it warms up a little and I get my passport and things sorted out. Springs starting to be a little late up here in the north, but it'll come. :)
Hello Mark, if i had discovered your channel earlier and we'll if have done the N2 in Portugal up to Pedrogão Grande area in Sertã we could have met! and in Sertã there are 2 bike shops that could helped for sure, i believe that sound is not valve issue or chain or tensiner, i believe is nok (pre ignition) cars have a sensor for it on the cilinder wall (like a microfon sensor) it is that bad for an engine it has a dedicated sensor!, ignition timming is not set right for the used fuel, what makes me think like that is that the bike was ok until you fueled up in Portugal with our crappy crazy expensive fuel, and it remained when engine was warm! until you burned all of that fuel and refueled in spain... just a guess!
Hi Marc .. Have a look at Lomo bags, they do lots of different motorbike bags, I bought some crash bar bags for £40 and they are very good quality and totally waterproof .. And much cheaper than the usual suspects for these types of bags..
That's such a cool bike, I have a xr650l and yours looks like it has the same RFVC engine but I've definitely never seen one of those in the states, yet
Happy to see you in your home Marc! Take the time to arrange a new adventure with the bike after fixing it. Let use know what are the needed maintenance for the Honda!! See you soon, take care!!

Nice ride! cool setup too, congrats! Is a conmon issue in those motors that chain tensioner axle wears out and the one way lock in the tensioner can´t catch position. Chain works loose and suffer. Consider new tensioner, axle, chain, sliders and take a look on the sprockets. Warm regards from Córdoba Argentina.
I like your father's house. Berlin looks rural. Haha! I don't know how you can wear a backpack every day. Interesting video. I must have a look at your Iceland videos.
I agree, Lomo who are based in Scotland produce really durable stuff for diving, kayaking etc and of course motorcycle luggage and they are not expensive
You have had quite a few problems with the Dominator which is hardly surprising with a 30 plus years old Moto. Any thoughts on getting some thing younger? With your mainly on road riding a Honda 500x would be my choice. I enjoy your laid back style and your occasional verbal expression of annoyance! Stay upright.....
Love your videos Marc, very jealous. I can honestly say your videos have helped massive during some really dark times. Can I ask what is your setup for recording your voice? I seen in once if your Iceland trips you had a little white device in your helmet?
i also agree with your fuel 98 or higher octane fuel even in my weed waker and chainsaws i make my premix at 3 percent of best stihll or huskvarna premix oil with 98 fuel from repsol, GOD I miss the Shell V power!
Yeah I also get a lot of questions so I thought I tell you a little bit about it in a video again🤗 many people where curious about the backpack 🎒 I love it and will keep it 👌🏼 thanks for watching my friend 🤙🏼
@@MarcTravels Depends on what are you doing... Your backpack will make no sense on offroad, due to the upper weight. At that point getting a bigger sadlle one will be wise ;) Ther will never be a "one-size-fits-all" bue more ideas are always welcome :D

Our room for adventure is very limited. Anywhere you go there are people in your face. But you certainly do not need warm clothes.
Hope you get the Honda fixed soon.

Enjoyed all the episodes from driving in the freezing cold from Berlin all the way to Portugal. Camping in horrible weather, driving in horrible weather. Nop this trip was not a luxury walk in the park. But your home and safe which is the most important part.
Yea true! It sure was a great adventure and a special experience 🤗 can’t wait to get the bike back and go back on the road 🙌🏼 thanks for watching 🤙🏼
Well, probably not what you are looking for, but i am very happy with my Kriega saddle bags. Not cheap, but small and very durable!
Okay thanks, I will have a look at them!🤗 cheers mate 🤙🏼
Nice video once again! Maybe when you have time you could add in the description all the products you mentioned... cheers
Alright 👍🏼 thanks for watching mate 🤙🏼
Hello Marc, there are so many options for soft bags! Some more expensive than others but if you get a new bike, whatever bags you might decide on for the Dominator they (the brackets) might not work if you change bike, and that could be another expense! I am certain that you will figure out what's best for you and the bike! Cheers and thank you for your wonderful videos! And Happy Easter to you and your family!
Thanks Patrick 👍🏼 happy Easter to you too🤗🤙🏼
Eurostan Blizzards ( get the large ) shaped like a sock 🧦. Works well on Small to medium ADV / dual sport bikes , I have the mediums VERY fantastic construction.
Okay thanks for the tip mate 🤙🏼
Cool setup, looks well organized 👍 As far bags go, I’ve been using Wolfman gear for side bags & my tank bag, it’s held up well for the past 2 years. Hope all goes well with the Honda, Cheers! 🤘
Alright, wolfman…will look into that! Thanks my friend 🤙🏼
Hi Marc,i so Happy you are on home!!!i see all of tour last adventure.
For your panniers i,m suggest you 21brothers,lets see their web and chosse your solution.
I,d like know about how do you editing insta360 material in tour tab and how you mix you another material like GoPro ir cell phone.I habe one and have problems editing video with those.
Thanks for your videos...and hope to see the next
Thanks for watching and the tip 👍🏼 I use the insta360 app and Lumafusion for iPad to edit all my videos. Cheers 🤙🏼
Hiya Marc, check out the Lomo range of dry bags and soft pannier set, I have just purchased some kit from them for my trip to France in June. Incredible value and superb quality too…..travel safe buddy and can’t wait to hear how the Honda is after your trip to the repair shop……
Okay thanks for the tip George 👍🏼 yes will let you know ones I have her back 🤗
Bye
Alright thanks Jean👍🏼 will check them out 🤙🏼
Thanks Oscar, I will let you know 🤗🤙🏼
Oh my friend I am so sorry that I just find you .
Yes, thank you for the tip mate🤗 glad you found the channel🤙🏼
Hi Marc 🙂
Side bags are very important, and they must be of good quality. SW-MOTECH and Hepco & Becker are the best brand, and come from Germany. Last year I went to Pirmasens, to visit the farm of Hepco & Becker. A very good brand!
Okay cool👍🏼 thanks for watching mate 🤗
No emergency tire repair kit with some plugs and some co2 cartridges? It takes up hardly any space and is a life saver. 😉
I got a flat tire a couple of weeks ago (a nail made it in my 2000 km young back tire😖).
Good luck for the upcoming episodes
Thanks mate 🤙🏼
Hi Marc theres one word for it less is more . Take care out there . Rolley
Thanks Rolley🤗🤙🏼
Thank s for this travel and give us good news for the Honda .
Thanks for watching Philippe 🤗🤙🏼
You may try "Rynox", "Gods", & "Viaterra" brand for saddle bags and ridding gear. Viaterra is an Indian manufacturer ...
Okay thanks a lot 🤙🏼
Awesome! All the best for travels with the new bike 🙌🏼
@@MarcTravels To you and Honda as well 💪
Hello Mark, if i had discovered your channel earlier and we'll if have done the N2 in Portugal up to Pedrogão Grande area in Sertã we could have met! and in Sertã there are 2 bike shops that could helped for sure, i believe that sound is not valve issue or chain or tensiner,
i believe is nok (pre ignition) cars have a sensor for it on the cilinder wall (like a microfon sensor) it is that bad for an engine it has a dedicated sensor!, ignition timming is not set right for the used fuel, what makes me think like that is that the bike was ok until you fueled up in Portugal with our crappy crazy expensive fuel, and it remained when engine was warm! until you burned all of that fuel and refueled in spain... just a guess!
Okay 👍🏼 thanks for watching mate 🤙🏼
Hi Marc .. Have a look at Lomo bags, they do lots of different motorbike bags, I bought some crash bar bags for £40 and they are very good quality and totally waterproof .. And much cheaper than the usual suspects for these types of bags..
Okay, thanks graham! Definitely will check them out! Cheers 🤗🤙🏼
Take a look at Giant Loop Great Basin bag. 68 liters of storage.
Very good option.
Okay cool. Thanks for the tip Ray🤙🏼
Loving the setup Marc. That little 5€ phone dampener mount is great! I was wondering what type you were using. 😎
It’s really cool, can’t find it on eBay anymore
That's such a cool bike, I have a xr650l and yours looks like it has the same RFVC engine but I've definitely never seen one of those in the states, yet
Yeah I hear that a lot. They made 1 American version in grey I think 🤔
Happy to see you in your home Marc! Take the time to arrange a new adventure with the bike after fixing it. Let use know what are the needed maintenance for the Honda!! See you soon, take care!!
Yes, it’s a long list to be done! Will let you know how it goes. Cheers mate 🤙🏼
Exactly. We are all ready. In the mean time can check my content. :) You may like it.
Enduristan monsoon evo bags. Very good.
You’re welcome Carlos. Thanks for watching every week 🤗🙌🏼
Nice ride! cool setup too, congrats! Is a conmon issue in those motors that chain tensioner axle wears out and the one way lock in the tensioner can´t catch position. Chain works loose and suffer. Consider new tensioner, axle, chain, sliders and take a look on the sprockets. Warm regards from Córdoba Argentina.
Okay thanks for letting me know mate👍🏼 cheers, Marc 🤙🏼
Nice. Almost 30k 💪🏿🤠🎉
Yes almost there 🙌🏼 thanks for noticing my friend 🤙🏼
I like your father's house. Berlin looks rural. Haha! I don't know how you can wear a backpack every day. Interesting video. I must have a look at your Iceland videos.
Yes go check them out, it was the trip of my life🙌🏼 k love Iceland! Cheers mate 🤙🏼
If you want decent dry bag panniers on a budget then check out Lomo watersports 👍
Okay👍🏼 will check them out! Thanks mate 🤙🏼
I agree, Lomo who are based in Scotland produce really durable stuff for diving, kayaking etc and of course motorcycle luggage and they are not expensive
@@Mikethebike721 cool, Never heard of them before 🤗
You have had quite a few problems with the Dominator which is hardly surprising with a 30 plus years old Moto. Any thoughts on getting some thing younger? With your mainly on road riding a Honda 500x would be my choice.
I enjoy your laid back style and your occasional verbal expression of annoyance!
Stay upright.....
Thanks for tuning in terry. Right now I’m not thinking about buying a new bike. I‘ll get her back on the road💪🏼 cheers mate 🤙🏼
Love your videos Marc, very jealous. I can honestly say your videos have helped massive during some really dark times. Can I ask what is your setup for recording your voice? I seen in once if your Iceland trips you had a little white device in your helmet?
Thanks mate, good to hear this🤗 I still use the same thing. Check this video here: ua-cam.com/video/sJ8_zrlG0cc/v-deo.html cheers 🤙🏼
Hi Marc , Tuscan makes some great soft bags that are quick removable .
Okay thanks Keith, I will check them out 👍🏼 cheers
Hey! I've found mosko moto to be amazing. Rackless and so convenient and easy to use.
Okay👍🏼 thanks for the tip my friend 🤙🏼
i also agree with your fuel 98 or higher octane fuel even in my weed waker and chainsaws i make my premix at 3 percent of best stihll or huskvarna premix oil with 98 fuel from repsol, GOD I miss the Shell V power!
We still have the v power in Germany. Also Aral ultimate 102 octane 🙌🏼
Portugal ist aus! Freue mich auf die nächste Tour! 👍👍👍Bernhard
Awesome 🤩 14 episodes in the Norway journey 🇳🇴 enjoy 🤙🏼
Cool stuff man! Hopefully the Honda does'nt need too much repairs..?!
Yes I have a long list that I gave her with in a repair shop. Hopefully they’ll get everything done quick 🤗🤙🏼

I recently got the enduristan monsoon xl bags and there really good i think. Price is around €300
Okay cool 👍🏼 thanks for letting me know mate, will check them out 🤗
Always nice tips, and to know what other ppl uses ✌️
Yeah I also get a lot of questions so I thought I tell you a little bit about it in a video again🤗 many people where curious about the backpack 🎒 I love it and will keep it 👌🏼 thanks for watching my friend 🤙🏼
@@MarcTravels Depends on what are you doing...
Your backpack will make no sense on offroad, due to the upper weight.
At that point getting a bigger sadlle one will be wise ;)
Ther will never be a "one-size-fits-all" bue more ideas are always welcome :D
@@x_Paulo_Nogueira_x agree, for off-road it would be better to have a camelbak or something for hydration fo sure.🤗
Ciao Marc ...
Thanks davide🤗 happy Easter to you and your family 🤙🏼
I for one will be very interested in hearing what is the issue with the bike. I too have a 30 year old Honda, a Transalp 600. Everyday rider for me.
Will let you guys know as soon as i have her back from the shop 🤗 thanks for watching mate 🤙🏼
I would check the Mosko Moto "Reckless" 40L and 80L. Expensive but I expect mine to last for many years.
Okay cool! Thanks for the tip mate 🤙🏼
Marc what was the trouble with the bike on the trip? Cam chain? New subscriber I love your stuff thanks!
Look for 21brothers bags. They have many options
Okay thanks Giovanni. Will do that 🤙🏼

Hi will you be videoing the work on the Honda? Great channel.
No, but the workshop promised me to document the repair. Let's see, of course the camera will be there when I pick it up 🤗 Greetings 🤙🏼
Hi Marc, I've seen all your trips, I've just bought a Honda Dominator 650 1993 last week and planning to trip around the South of Argentina (Bariloche, pretty similar to Germany) next summer, your trips are really motivating! Which tools and spare parts for the Domi would you recommend me to carry with? Thanks and keep it coming!
Clutch cable, tire repair, some wrenches, brake pads and wd40…something like that
