Such seamless transitions in each medley! I don’t know how Doyle does it. I really loved when Go Tell It on the Mountain went from C to A. Beautiful. I could listen to Doyle pick all day. And as always, a beautiful message that inspires me. Such a blessing to start each Sunday with Doyle’s String Alongs! Thank you, Lord, for the immense gift to us all of Doyle Dykes, his music, and his example. :-)

Thanks So Much Doyle! I've met you once , and I'm Grateful for You ,that you came to where I Live. I Bought your Signature Guild Guitar that you Signed. This was a Dream Come True for me. Have a Merry Christmas with Your Family! Your Friend Gene, Idaho Falls.
WOW - put strings on it and hand to Doyle and look out. Jesus is the reason for the Season. Wouldn’t it be great If the world went back to saying Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. May the Lord bless everyone that loves this channel….Amen. 🙏🏻❤️
This string along is a blessing! Your music has been a help to me during strike recovery. Praise God i can walk with a cane now! Thanks for all the prayers!
I love to hear you strum your amazing instruments -I have a mother and brother who can play almost any thing - And I can’t play anything- Oh well still love to hear good music.🩸✝️🩸😇🙏🐑📖
Love ya Doyle….thanks for these meaningful and blessed messages every week. You are a great human being! These messages are amazing gifts to me and many others.
What a great uplifting service filled with great music. Doyle, please pray for my sister Brenda Bonsall in Elkton, MD. She is in the hospital with chest pains. She has had two heart attacks in the last year. They are running tests on her. And please keep me in your prayers also my hands are still hurting. God bless you and your family and this channel. Merry Christmas.
I tried banjo years ago. My wife asked me if there was a tune in there somewhere and I told there would be when played faster. She asked, how long til that happened. I gave up the banjo. Thanks for the carols! Churches don't seem to put them forward as much now as they did when I was young. We can't lose that rich heritage linking us with the past saints.
I would certainly love to have a white falcon given to me like that. That's the 1 guitfiddle I've always wanted. But it's just the small things that have meaning like my little 4" gumby and pokey that my baby girl gave me about 40 years ago. Still sits where all can admire!!! Many Blessings to all!!!! He's Alive!!!
You read my mind. Kidding of course, but you know I was hoping you'd bring out a banjo to play for us. Delightful! To add to the joy, you also played my favorite of your Christmas carols, Drummer Boy. Wow! Many thanks. A splendid gift to all.
Mr. Doyle, Another Great Sunday String Along ! Thanks for telling Everyone about Gifts that we can Give ! Time, Talents, or Just a Cup of Cold Water ! Plow On ! When are You coming up to Chicagoland ? The People Up here need to Hear You talk about Jesus ! Merry Christmas ! Brad Pemberton Chicago, Illinois
Doyle, your gift of your music is a ministry to me! Your heart shows the grace, and beauty of Jesus...you are teasing with showing just a few things from your studio...maybe someday you can take us on a tour!!! L O L...
No, I really mean it this time. This is my favorite Christmas season Sunday String-along. For umpteen reasons, but don't miss Doyle playing a semi-solid body Chet Atkins signature model instrument that "Mr. Guitar" gifted to Doyle -- someone he declared he would 'pay to see' -- when asked the question. "Oh ... someone like Doyle Dykes" -- Chet Atkins.
Good Morning, I so enjoy seeing your video up to watch first thing on Sunday mornings... 'What then shall I give Him".. I love hearing you sing this. I'm thinking, the first time I heard this, you and your daughter were performing it here, on your program. What a busy season it sounds like that you're having. I know you'll enjoy it to fullest..
Pick it up at the 4:20 mark as Doyle Dykes "sets the levels" for AWAY IN A MANGER played on a guitar that master luthier James Olson of Minnesota gave to Mr. Dykes as a gift. I'd just been thinking that James Taylor treasures a similar instrument made for him by Mr. Olson; knowing that to obtain one, I'd have to "get in line" -- wait at least a year -- and pay upwards of 25K American, about 40K Canadian dollars! But could I ever make it sound as sweet as this? Doyle's sparkling Christmas Medley. Thanks for sharing!
All jokes aside, I really enjoyed your banjo playing. I can’t wait to hear you playing the accordion next week and the bagpipes soon after. lol Seriously though, you are a gift that brings me inspiration. Thank you also for your boldness.
At the 2:23 mark he stares at the camera, as if amazed that, without any warm-up he was able to play the banjo ("I haven't [ever] played it much,") knowing he's just delivered something that would delight, both the grandmaster of banjo Earl Scruggs, and amaze his life-long hero (mine too!) Chet Atkins. Yes, watch this latest SUNDAY String-Along from the beginning as Doyle Dykes warms to an instrument he emulates so often, with 'bent' notes only he creates on the headstock of his guitars. The other thing is -- not a trace of condescension toward the "lesser instrument," disdained by jazz guitarists, except for the great Chuck Wayne. I must google for " Chuck Wayne Green Dolphin Street " In my mind's ear I can re-live every single note of his jazz soloings. It takes a master, like Doyle Dykes, to have such a lasting effect on our musical psyche, no? P.S. Good Lord, (spoken with reverence) is there anything we can't find now in a second or two: from his TAPESTRY album circa 1965. ua-cam.com/video/78ETa_IVj2k/v-deo.html

Stay tuned or pick it up at the 4:44 mark. I didn't realize that this precious instrument, perhaps Doyle's favorite steel-string, acoustic-electric guitar was a "gift from James Olson" who used "all of his skills to make it. " Like the instruments made by Mr. Olson for James Taylor, this one "owned by Doyle Dykes" is already in the category of "priceless."
Doyle, thanks for the great post! Getting into the Christmas Spirit. Your posts help it along. We live in Key West and would like to see you sometime. Best from me….
Love you brother Doyle! You're banjo playing was fantastic. You are so talented especially on your guitars. I loved the way you played the Drummer Boy. I listen to it quite often.I'm a guitar player too.And as always thank you for your teaching the Word! "Merry Christmas to you and your family!!
Merry Christmas, Doyle! Thanks as always for sharing your insight & wisdom. And awesome music, of course! It’s good to remind people of the joys of Christmas. Since Jesus is the Light of the world, a great way to represent that is a display of lights & a lovely tree, surrounded by Baby Jesus in the manger. I’m betting heaven has the best light show ever on Christmas morning - Jesus Himself being the lightest & brightest! ❤🌟❤️
Love ya Brother Doyle and your family… the banjo was a nice touch today! Appreciate the SSA’s every week so much… it’s a weekly gift to us! Merry Christmas! From D and R😊
What's the best pickup to put on a banjo? (Answer).... Ford F150 !! What's worse than a banjo? (Answer)... Two banjos!! ( just made that one up, as you can tell.) All the best to your family and self, and thanks gor including O Little Town of Bethlehem in your medley, one of the few carols I know a good arrangement for. ( Ron Echete) I can sort of stumble through a rough version of one and a half of his two arrangements. By the time you're 80, I'll robably have it down!
15:08 Hi Doyle! What is this song? I would love to learn it and sing it myself… Regardless of the level of musicianship and technical expertise, the “normal” banjo (not a baritone) and the high harmonica (not the low-tuned ones) are two instruments I just can’t listen to. Maybe my big rabbit ears are too sensitive to the sound, but it’s always been that way. 😂 I enjoyed the show! Merry Christmas! 🐰🎁🎄🎸🎶✌️
Thanks, inspiring playing harmonic knowledge good! ...im trying now to put Abm to Db7 Before that A7 in lil drummer boy...its not terrible maybe cause abm's 3rd is Ds 6th oh and I guess Ds 3rd is Abms 7th too gosh

I totally agree ! It should have been "The Little Guitar Boy". A guitar is a lot more soothing than a drum.
I didn’t know you played banjo. I should’ve known you’d be amazing at it. ❤
You say awful? My gosh that was the best banjo picking Ive ever heard. Awesome.
It’s a fun instrument to play. Thanks so much.

What's the difference between a banjo and an onion?
People don't cry when they cut up a banjo.
HA! Good one!
The original was the Little Banjo Boy!? A camel ate the neck off of the banjo and thus it became a drum.
HA!
If you want to make the song about a guitar player, you could call it “Little Strummer Boy” instead of “Little Drummer Boy.”
Good point
