Such a beautiful piece with an amazing performer and a melancholic timbre!

It's gorgeous. The original with the violin playing the main melody is even more astonishing, the slide up to the high G sharp really adds to the eeriness of the piece

I learnt this song about a year ago and it still feels and sounds unreal every time I play it. This was great💜

Sometimes when I spend way too much time on dumb details like this thinking no one will notice the difference anyway I think to myself "nah jack will probably notice and point it out" :D

Hmm I don't agree. The magic of Chopin is how he makes melodies made out of insane runs and arpeggios APPEAR singable, while in reality no human could possibly sing them. This isn't the case with Tchaikovsky. His melodies, including this one, were most of the time very singable.
Aside from that, Chopin relied a lot on "hidden melodies", and filled his pieces with counterpoint, especially towards his late years. This can't be found in Tchaikovsky (at least not to that extent). The structure, harmonic progression, and modulations are also vastly different from what Chopin would do.

Amazing performance! I have a question, how do you make the background below your arms black?

The only similarities I can think between this and Chopin's waltzes is the 3/4 time signature and the piano
