Placing my hand around the rim of the ice-cold glass of bourbon, I looked out the tall, gaping, black windows of the Colorado Lounge. Even the snowstorm which was rapidly growing more wicked with each slash of wind; wasn't comparable to the cool satisfaction of the liquor going down my throat. I looked back at my typewriter - work unfinished, repetitive phrases, and months of writer's block lingering at my own being. The ash tray, with my cigarette still burning away as small clouds of smoke infiltrated the air. I wasn't sure of where to pick up my writing next. That was, until I heard a faint sound in the distance. It seemed to be a classic melody of the early 1930's or twenties. The sound of its source, echoing on and on throughout the lengthy and confusing maze-like walls of the Overlook's interior. The man's voice seemed tired and slow, as if he were a drunken partygoer who spent his night strolling around doing things a normal Casanova would. Arising to my feet, I walked to the Gold Ballroom - which just so happened to be where my pity party took place.
    [Recent addon]
Upon entering the soaked in golden, glittering facade of the ballroom, I took special notice of the lonely man shifting his gaze from his freshly poured bottle of bourbon and onto me. He stood behind a dark mahogany bar, bottles of liquor put on display behind him as if they were limited edition. Presumably, he looked to be around my age, an older man nearing his fifties but wearing a crimson red suit, his hair slicked back. Shockingly as I neared him, his appearance seemed nothing of any importance and yet I had been so intoxicated by his mere presence. Something of an unworldly and ungodly aura beamed from his very body. Though, I could blame the alcohol for this feeling. But it had occurred to me then, that he and I were the only men in the large and empty ballroom. At the time I dared not to question it, as I had begun hearing strange little voices nagging at the back of the room. But there was no source to the sound.
Taken away blissfully from the red-hot temptation that liquor brought to me, it overshadowed and conquered my good judgment- if there was any left in me, of course. Puffing out a gray cloud of smoke from my cigar, I reluctantly sat before the man. Not an ounce of fear or curiosity to his arrival in the back of my mind. Looking back on it, I don't exactly remember being able to even decide. Control was something I’d never been granted to in life, and this moment might have been my one and only testimony.
“Good evening, Mr. Torrance.” A shrill, and rough voice had spoken up before me. When he spoke, he had such an unpleasant croak at the back of his throat, as if he needed to clear it. As much as I can recall everything that happened prior to our meeting, I have no recollection of his words, his intentions, or if he even _was_ .

You just took the shining and perfectly described what it feels like to watch the shining, with brief but amazing detail. You should become an author

okay that was technically the entire movie in a nut shell, you NEED to become a author of books, you have , great vocabulary, great story structure, and the story is not misleading, i feel like Jack torrence wrote this before going crazy. outstanding job A+

@@StaroftheSea_May Thank you very much! I am quite touched by your comment. I'm an amateur by all means and would love to write something lengthy, perhaps even a full story someday. Thank you for your great words of encouragement!

The windows glimmered the uneasy tune whilst my heart paced as i twisted my neck in a new direction towards the typewriter i heard a tune, a chiming tune. It calmed me. However, the monsters didn't agree
    Poor me
I walked towards the old fasioned music player to listen to a new life...

in early '80s Detroit a small FM station had a program called _Big Band Beat_ whose host sometimes accidentally played records with the pitch knob way down. this is more or less what it sounded like, given that the records were Lps of 78 era material that often had added echo.

Very nicely done in terms of slowing down an oldies song if I might say!!
Sounds eve more disturbing as Hades if I might say. And really gives off the feeling of playing this on a busted up radio that's long past it's prime.
Not much more needs to be said. God bless and have a nice day. And Happy Belated Halloween.
