    I understand that. I worked for McDonnell Douglas aircraft. We built our planes so well they would last 50 plus years which meant customer did not have to buy new as often. It screwed us in the end. Boeing built a 20 year plane at a good price and bought MDC.

    It’s not even a bad coolant. Just gotta make sure when you change your coolant you put the exact same coolant back in the system. People run into issues when they change their coolant and add the green stuff and it mixes with the orange Dexcool that might still be in the engine block and that’s when it turns everything to sludge when the two coolants mix. Dexcool is pretty good at lasting a long time you shouldn’t need to change it unless you notice it’s looking dirty in anyway. When you go to buy Dexcool it usually says on the back made for GM vehicles and it should say Dexcool on it

    Been buying chevy cars and trucks since 2000 and never had one issue with dexcool. I maintain my vehicle(s), theres no such thing as a lifetime fluid/1 year engine oil...
    I have a 2002 chevy malibu with the 3.1 and opened up the engine for other minor reasons. The oe plastic intake manifold gaskets were in perfect condition. Always used dexcool. Like he said, if it runs low and you never replace it, you will have issues. I change my coolant every 2-3 years and bleed the system. It's a 1 hour job people.

    I had my factory installed GM original gaskets go out in year #5. I replaced them with the GM original REVISED gaskets. It is year #21 of ownership for me. The gaskets are still holding.
    I have never stopped using Prestone Dexcool, but I'm flushing the entire cooling system every 3 years. I also replace the thermostat and the radiator cap at every second coolant flush, so every 6 years.
    For a complete flush, I remove the thermostat and then flush the system with TAP WATER out of a garden hose (made my own adapters) until the system only holds tap water only. Then I remove half system capacity and refill with Dexcool concentrate. My recovered 3 year old Dexcool is always crystal clear. My cooling system has no deposits what so ever either. I have recently replaced the original radiator (the side tank cracked) and dissected it before discarding it. This almost 20 year old radiator was absolutely clean inside. No deposits what so ever. Also the 20 year old hoses were soft like new. Proof is in the pudding. Dexcool and tap water make a great coolant. I will continue to use this mix for the lifetime of the vehicle.

      In most cases it's best NOT to create a script, but just create bullet points on the queue cards, so that what the presenters are saying is fresh and contemporary. Normally the presenters are experts on the subject, so just give them a little direction with bullet-points and let them riff.
      You'll get a much more natural and much less robotic presentation that way.

    1:40 WHEN THE ANTIFREEZE GOT LOW in the cooling system, it was replaced by AIR.
    AIR COMBINED WITH ANTIFREEZE and formed an ACID. The acid attacked the black plastic carrier used in those OE style gaskets, then _____
    .
    1) 3:40. We also REPLACED the SILICONE RUBBER, WITH HNBR RUBBER.
    That's the stuff they use in batteries to separate the cells; so it's very resistant to acid.
    2.) 3:49 We noticed on the OE parts, that technicians sometimes OVER-TIGHTENED the gaskets, sometimes causing failure.
    ❤️So we built in steel load limiters to solve that problem.
    3.) 4:02 We saw another problem :
    .We designed an RTV DIVERSION CHANNEL on this gasket, so extra RTV was diverted AWAY from critical sealing areas.

    It's not OAT antifreeze. It's DEXKILL in particular. It does a lot more than just damage gaskets. It starts out as a liquid, and turns into a solid inside the engine, plugging up all the coolant passages and destroying the engine. I have torn down dozens of GM engines, some as new as 5 years old, that had the water jackets around the cylinders more than half plugged with a brown gooey waxy substance. It also plugs up the radiator, heater core, thermostat, coolant hoses, and even the water pump. If you have a GM vehicle, GET THIS STUFF OUT OF IT RIGHT NOW!!!. I recommend replacing it with Prestone OAT coolant. It has proven to be safe for engines, including aluminum engines, which can be damaged by the silicates that were used in older types of coolant designed for cast iron engines. It has nothing to do with the engine. DEXKILL will destroy any engine. In any vehicle, regardless of brand. And it is the ONLY so called "coolant" that has been known to cause this problem. Most auto manufacturers have their own brand of coolant these days, but not a single one of them have been known to cause problems, EXCEPT DEXKILL.

    I just ordered two sets of the premium gaskets, the steel was grey on one set and black on the other, both have the same part number. I went with Mahle brand because I know the design is well tested through R&D, even if most everything online says FelPro is the only gasket to use. The shop that built my engine cheeped out on everything and I'm sure the intake gaskets are no exception. The cooling system also leaked and your video concerns me because of air entering the cooling system.. Thanks for the honest opinion of Dex-Cool and the reason gasket failures are such a problem.

      @@bobcat1 DEX-COOL is the best, most effective coolant for late model Chevy engines WHEN USED PROPERLY, which means you MUST bleed your radiator and engine water chambers to get all air/oxygen out of the system.
      It is excess oxygen in the system that cause the Dex-Cool to become acidic, caustic and damage OLD/LEGACY gaskets. Most NEWER gaskets handle Dex-Cool equally well, but the key is to BURP or BLEED the air out of the coolant system as best you can.
      My 2007 Hummer H2 has been running Dex-Cool in it's radiator since BIRTH/2007 and there are no signs of any gasket or leak issues whatsoever.
      Google BURP coolant for instructions on how to purge air from your system.

    • @Mavairo
      @Mavairo 4 роки тому

      Dex Cool is a special case, it's not uncommon for dexcrap to eat gaskets in 2-3 years tops, and even better is it moves the plastic sludge it creates into the water jackets, and water pumps. Just stick with the green stuff, and you won't have any problems. Any car with dexcool in it that I end up with gets a full flush out and swap to green. Oh, and dexcool will also eat any composite (plastic) intake manifolds it touches too, so even with new gaskets, you're still going to get leaks and need to buy a new plastic intake.

      @racers115 4 роки тому +1

      The reason is that the Dex Cool formulation under ideal and proper circumstances not only offered superior corrosion protection versus standard coolant of the time, but it also offered a longer service interval than the conventional coolant that was being used prior to Dex Cool. The problem was that when not under ideal conditions, Dex Cool could also become highly acidic and start attacking materials that were commonly being used at the time in gaskets and engine components. This would not have been an issue if vehicle owners checked their vehicle fluids regularly such as in this case the coolant and simply kept the fluid level topped off so as to prevent air from mixing in with the coolant which then would initiate the rapid decline of coolant composition in to an acidic form that would do the damage. In addition to this, because of the extended service interval (5 year for Dex Cool vs 1 or 2 years for standard coolant) it became much to easy for owners to completely forget about servicing the coolant being you wouldn't even need to think about for a good stretch of years and so people got out of the habit of changing their cars coolant at all. This is also why you hear such opposite stories when it comes to Dex Cool. Some people stating how problematic the stuff is/was, versus other people who mention how they've run nothing other than Dex Cool for 15 years and 350k miles with no issues, but the later group of people also stayed proactive with their vehicle maintenance as well as checking fluid levels and topping off as necessary along the way, thus they never let the conditions arise that would lead to the Dex Cool becoming acidic in the first place. Was Dex Cool superior to the standard coolant that was being used at the time? In many ways, yes it was. Was introducing a new coolant that was designed to go for 5 years/100k miles a good idea considering that prior to that the standard recommendation was to change out coolant every year or two? Well therein lies the dilemma in that people no longer felt it necessary to check their coolant level/condition when situations such as low coolant levels and or coolant system leaks occurred (leading to air getting in to the system and fluid), what was supposed to be a superior coolant would quickly turn in to a monster and damage would occur. For people who have made it hundreds of thousands of miles running the Dex Cool there would be no reason for them to switch over to anything else as they obviously know what they are doing when it comes to maintaining their vehicle(s) , whereas for people that are not so sure they always do proper maintenance and regular inspection then perhaps they may be better off changing their coolant out to an OAT or HOAT coolant (as long as its done properly) either of which have less of the "jekyll & hyde" characteristics. Of course with many manufacturers now committing to converting over to all electric vehicles in the near future, this issue will become less and less relevant to car ownership.

There is brown sludge in only the top haft on the underside but only at each end not in the middle and none on the bottom haft of reserve tank. I say that because reserve has a seam bit more then haft way up running around it and definitely no sludge below that seam. How bad the sludge maybe esle where like hoses or engine parts I don't know. I hope that the way the car is driven with low klms compared to year that all or most sludge went into the reserve. Got photos but not sure how to post here if you can. Again coolant still very orangey in the reserve. Not brown. I use Cdn Tire Prestone says with GM Dexcool. That doesn't make automotive industry longevity sense to me at all! knowily using a potential "liability" threat not only doesn't make sense it ruins your overall profits! If Dexcool was such a highly dangerous internal components issue then their should have been an all out bulletin & potential liability act on GM! Would GM intentionally do this to ruin it's reputation & potentially loose thousands of loyal customers to supposedly gain more revenue from repair maintenance?? Sounds like self destruction to me which doesn't make a bit of sense at all! I've never had any issues with sludge build up or leaking seals since 1997! My 2003 Gmc Envoy is running just fine with over 220,000 miles on it with Dexcool!
