  • A tutorial on the benefits of using the MASK option within the program.
    The mask option gives you ability to limit the area in which Ebsynth looks to synthesize the footage, this gives you clean edges if you are soloing a character or object in the footage.
    this is the 1st in a series of tutorials, if there is anything you like me to cover in the future please leave a suggestion in the comments and consider a like.

    I was looking for a mask tutorial and OMG, I am working with that movie to make a stylized colored version with my own soundtrack! What a coincidence! I have been looking at that head for weeks now, haha.

      @@rezzitoonz Hehe, I am not going crazy, but it might look a little obsessed from the outside. Just spent two days on a two-second shot where the lead character is driving.. You need plenty of keyframes to have that go well. But it is so much fun to use the Colorize Neural Filter in Photoshop, enhance it, put it through EbSynth and then have the hidden secret Studio Artist program by Synthetik create different layers that make it look really cool. I actually first spent a good chunk of time to edit a 40 minute version of the movie on a 125 bpm soundtrack, and then removing most background noise and music. The end goals is to compose a hybrid score for that whole thing. EbSynth is just part of the whole process. But it is fun. I just was baffled to encounter this very nice tutorial and then discover you are actually using the same source material! I created a mask in After Effects, with traditional masks for the solid components and rotobrush 2 for the hair. But only after that discovered EbSynth actually did di a great job when I used keyframes for every ten frames. But the AE mask was really useful in coloring the hair in Photoshop.
      One of these days I will be using the mask function, you showed how that has to be done, so thanks again!

      @@rezzitoonz By the way, to illustratie how I am using EbSynth, I made this video that has a stylized look, where the look I made with Studio Artist could be projected or mapped to video, thanks to EbSynth. It is something way different than what you are doing, but it does show what a fantastic piece of software it is, I think: ua-cam.com/video/RZt79Ssj-6E/v-deo.html

    subscribed to a fellow small channel animator. Im not sure eb synth is going to help me with my weekend deadline, but fingers crossed I can pull it out the toilet in time.

      It doesn't do all the work for you but can be a handy tool to speed things up. Hope it worked for you.

    Hi there bro, this video is extremely helpful so thank you. Can you please make a tutorial on how to add a new background that'll be stylized with effects that matches like the actual Ebsynth example on their website with the winter background and snow effect? It doesn't exist on YT in a clear concise format like this tutorial. Thank you in advance...👌👍🏻🔥

    my masks arent keeping ebsynth within the bounds, i named everything the same but it is still getting blurring and ghosting outside the masks, any idea what this might be?

    • @rezzitoonz
      @rezzitoonz  Рік тому

      Without seeing the footage I can only guess at either the frame rate is high and your getting motion blur, turning into the ghosting. Or tweek the settings in ebsynth to try reduce itself

      I think my problem is maybe im not using masking properly, but i dont know the problem. In my masks, white white is what I want to modify and black parts keep the same right?@@rezzitoonz

      If following the tutorial and making sure all frames, keyframes and mask frames are all correct size I'm unsure what the problem is.

      @@rezzitoonz When you use the mask in EBSynth are you also masking out the background in the input video before using it in EBSynth? I'm using a mask but also sending my full video with background to the program.

    I thought your tutorial was awesome... until you pulled the ol switcharoo and just pulled out after effects. a paid app. when you talked up this free method in the beginning. just saying thats annoying and maybe lead with that

      Sorry you feel that way, I use after effects because it's what I have and Ebsynth will convert and merge the render for you when exporting to it. There are free editing software you can use to do this ( Davinci Resolve, Hitfilm express, Filmora) but then you will have to manually bring in and fade/merge the renders.
      The reason for not using and having to learn a whole new workflow for these free programs is time, at some point Ebsynth too will become a product your going to have to pay for when it comes out of beta. Untill then as I say in my tutorials there are free options to doing everything I do within After Effects.
