Nene looks so fantastic for her age. I love her beautiful shiny black coat. Shabani is absolutely gorgeous, so is Kiyomasa. In fact they are all so beautiful. Thank you Paul Agola for watching!
I always enjoy your videos and your love of the gorilla troops. You video tape my favorite troops. Shabani troop and Haoko Troop. I also enjoy watching Momotaro troop. It still makes me upset knowing that Kiyo, Annie, Komomo, Momoka and Gentaro do not have any set plans for their future that we are aware of. I have said over and over that I wish they could work with zoos overseas to bring in new bloodlines. Out of these only Gentaro and Annie could mate and become a family. But that is only one female for him. They all are becoming wonderful gorillas and deserve to have a troop and be happy unlike the fate of Monta and Rola.
Thank you Karen for your warm comment. I so agree with what you have written in your comment. It's concerning that those young gorillas seem to have nowhere to go. I hope the breeding committee will come up with the best solution for them, but it's taking so long.I don't want to see Kiyomasa end up being solitary. I am a bit concerned with Annie's mental health because I saw her plucking her hair constantly before bedtime. But in overall, the troop was fantastic. The zoo is doing a great job making their lives not boring.
Thanks Karin for that update . Haven't had time lately to check out the Shabani troop . They are all have a good day . Yess I've noticed patches on Annie hands and arms . Hope it passes . I watch so many videos of Shabani troop but Im excited watching them thru your eyes. I hope one day I will be able to see my favorite gorilla troops! And travel on a bullet train too! Shabani had a hair pulling issue awhile ago when the kids were little. He was so stressed! Seems like Annie is feeling the same way.🙋🏽🫶🏽
Thank you MySkinnydip for watching the video. It was worth visiting the troop. I was astonished by the beauty of Shabani as well as the rest of his family. Thank you for telling me that Shabani had the same issue of hair pulling awhile ago. Annie seems to be unsettled. Maybe she feels stressed for being the lower rank of the group, but I don't know. I hope it's just a temporary thing.
@@karintogorillas Ah, reading back on your insightful comments now that Nene is sick and injured, and knowing how Annie has responded to her strangely aggresive, this makes me wonder if it's about Annie feeling an opportunity to act out on asserting her position as lower ranking member while Nene is vulnerable. I have tried and tried to find photos of Ai's father Rikki and unfortunately to no avail. Ai has such a distinctive looking face and she doesn't look like Nene at all, so I was curious to see if Rikki had her features, such as very black skin and fur and that long brow. There's a registry of gorillas in zoos called GAIN (and acronym for something) and it included registry numbers and photos of all our favorite gorillas. Although it includes information about Rikki, there are no photos of him. There must be a picture SOMEWHERE. 🤔
With all the money these gorillas bring to your ZOO you’d think they would have more enrichment. Why doesn’t this Zoo, particularly the staff that overlook the gorillas get CREATIVE and start encouraging these gorillas to use their minds more. They are always bored. The only thing they have to look forward to is meal times. Very sad

I can imagine it was very exciting for you! Nene and Annie, unfortunately it's a complicated relationship! I read on the zoo's website that Shabani and Ai had to be separated again at the beginning because Shabani attacked Ai and that they lived apart for a while. I then read in a comment that Shabani broke Ai's arm. I don't know if that's true. I haven't found any information about it. Shabani was still very young when he came to Japan. I always read that people are sad that Shabani and Momotaro no longer have children and that's partly true. They have great genes, but then what about the children? The future of Kyomasa, Gentaro, Annie and Kintaro is unclear. It's a shame, but I'm glad that there are no more children.... . I'm delighted that long comments don't bother you. 🙈🤭🙃. Kind regards.
Long comments are always welcome! I enjoy reading them.😊 I have never heard Shabani broke Ai's arm before. But it is well known that Shabani was not welcomed by the senior female gorilla named Oki. Oki took care of Ai since she was a baby. Oki was separated from the rest of the troop, and eventually passed away alone. She was 53 years old. Thank you, strangerlovesgorillas, for sharing your thoughts. Have a nice day!
@@karintogorillas 😊😀. Ai lived with Oki for a while and Shabani with Nene. Oki and Ai didn't get along with him and so the gorillas were split up. I was surprised when I read that . Unfortunately, Oki was then alone. She really was a great female 💜. She helped Nene and Ai a lot. I didn't read the information that Shabani attacked Ai on the zoo website, but on a different blog, I got that mixed up. About Ai's arm - unfortunately people write a lot of wrong information, that's why I try to check everything. I couldn't find any information, therefore I hope it's not true. @strangerlovesgorillas -- I would be BEYOND SHOCKED if Shabani had done anything like that! Shabani is one of the most mellow and non-aggressive silverbacks that I've seen in any zoo - and I watch a lot of them, being a lifelong gorilla fan. One of the reasons why Shabani is so popular with gorilla fans is his gentile demeanor when dealing with his troop. If anything, he tends to be far too lenient and lets the kids get away with unacceptable behaviors. But I'd much rather see a big silverback be too lenient than to see him acting aggressive with his troop members. i've never seen him attack, bite, rape, any of them, while I've seen every single other zoo's silverback doing one or more of those things to their family members - wives and kids. Shabani is exemplary when it comes to being kind to the others.

Thank you Jessica for your comments. This video is just a short clip of their long day. I only visited them for a day, but I found the zoo was doing quite a good job in terms of providing enrichment. But I understand why you are frustrated. I hope the zoo will provide more creative enrichment for them to use their minds more in the future.
