Manga is keeping bookstores alive. Literally. I remember when manga only had a single shelf at every bookstore for niche buyers. They have entire sections of entire series now in every store I go into.

Making the minorities be catered to not small. If representation is soooo important to these people many of these cultures should be represented so that we have superheroes for EVERYONE.

What does Squid Game have that the comic book industry doesn’t have? I personally detest the notion that you can't see yourself in a character unless they share your religion/race/ethnicity/sexuality/sex or whathaveyouever. That speaks to an intensely shallow mindset. Actual character is irrelevant to these people, only superficial traits matter.
My mom somewhat did this when I was growing up. I wanted dress like Sleeping Beauty because she was pretty and wore pink. But "sweetie, we're black. Don't you want to be Jasmine or your own princess?" No mom. I wanted to be sleeping beauty. It didn't matter that we look different. She was cool. (Tiana wasn't a thing then, but even if she was I still would have liked sleeping beauty. I even told her one day I liked Jasmine better to make her feel better. This is soooo petty, I know, but the memory still sticks)

What I really like about Superman: Red Son's Wonder Woman is that her sexual identity is a one and done deal. A man tries kissing her, she rejects his advance, done, dusted let's be good friends. At no point do they make her sexuality a key component of her character or feel the need to keep bringing it up. I can't recall it even being used as marketing bait to advertise the film either, its just a nice throw-away line that adds to her character without it BECOMING her character, a trait I'm concerned is happening with far too many characters in Western Media in general.

To be honest, I’ve never had a problem with a character being made bisexual, gay or even transgender. My problem is SJW and Feminist think that’s the be all and end all when making a character. Caring more for things that are frivolous and not creating characters that are flawed and grounded.
I just don't like the fact that they took already established characters and just completely changed them on a whim. Here's the thing with me if they want a bisexual or gay superhero simply create one and pitch it.
And on that point, how does any entertainment transcend its original culture if people can only enjoy what they see themselves in? Why is it that Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman are known all around the world when all of them are straight, white, and male? How did anime and manga get popular in the West when Japanese people are a minority in these regions? Clearly the people that loved these things before this "diversity and inclusion" push didn't need to have someone that looked like them to have fun, yet people who don't tend to even buy the products do.

My favorite part about that picture of Superman holding the climate change sign is that he's completely ignoring the giant squid monster killing people in the background because he's protesting with some activists. The artist accidently (I assume) parodied themselves perfectly with that picture, by pointing out how absurd it is that Superman is opting to spend his time protesting about something rather than being a real hero and saving lives. Modern society is truly beyond parody at this point.

I'm bi and I hate how companies pretend to care, but clearly only see us as pandering material. They'll make a preexisting character gay, or they'll make a new gay character but their whole personality is "I'm gay" I remember watching The Owl House and seeing the main character was bisexual and it felt natural, it didn't feel forced and they had an actual personality. But Disney cancelled it and they were against that character being bi.

Black Sails is the last time I've seen "diversity" done right. I could guess the writers politics quite easily. But I can also tell the time and effort they put in actually crafting a very complicated story that made sense from beginning to end. The classic audience of comic books is falling off, dying off, and the new audience doesn't give a crap about comic books. So companies try to pander, in the hopes that they somehow find out what the new audiences like about comic books. By the looks of it by now, the old audiences are insufficient to keep the industry afloat, and the new audiences mostly care about manga, so the comic book companies are flailing around like a headless chicken, throwing shit at the walls and looking to see what sticks, NOTHING STICKS, but they still have shit to throw for now before they finally give up or go bankrupt. I can completely understand these companies. They're trying to survive.

Manga is keeping bookstores alive. Literally. I remember when manga only had a single shelf at every bookstore for niche buyers. They have entire sections of entire series now in every store I go into.

Making the minorities be catered to not small. If representation is soooo important to these people many of these cultures should be represented so that we have superheroes for EVERYONE.
I wasn't a fan, but I can tell you exactly why people are being drawn into that one and it's the same reason why comics are bombing, it's all about the story. If you like it, then the show is for. I understand why people like it even though it's not for me.

What I really like about Superman: Red Son's Wonder Woman is that her sexual identity is a one and done deal. A man tries kissing her, she rejects his advance, done, dusted let's be good friends.
At no point do they make her sexuality a key component of her character or feel the need to keep bringing it up. I can't recall it even being used as marketing bait to advertise the film either, its just a nice throw-away line that adds to her character without it BECOMING her character, a trait I'm concerned is happening with far too many characters in Western Media in general.

My favorite part about that picture of Superman holding the climate change sign is that he's completely ignoring the giant squid monster killing people in the background because he's protesting with some activists. there's something so enlightening about how they portray the most powerful demigod of a superhero as doing something so pointless and performative. I don't think so. These people write themselves in the comics. They write what they would do if they had such power. That is why all the SJWs do is write villains. These are trained sociopaths that have no independent thoughts (NPCs). There is no creativity because once you need to start explaining things their dogma becomes nonsensical.
I mean think about it: how much better of a story line would it be if the world governments were planning on moving their entire civilization/people to another planet and starting over again (because there are other planets in DC universe). For the sake of them not being super evil they intend to take everyone and leave no one behind, even the poor. THEN have Superboy convince people to stay and make their home better rather than abandon it. Don't even write the governments as evil, just lazy or desperate. Instead.... we get boyfriends that can not spell holding up signs with their pink hair.....

Buying entertainment should be as simple as going to the store/site and grabbing it off the shelf/ordering it. I'm bi and I hate how companies pretend to care, but clearly only see us as pandering material. They'll make a preexisting character gay, or they'll make a new gay character but their whole personality is "I'm gay" I remember watching The Owl House and seeing the main character was bisexual and it felt natural, it didn't feel forced and they had an actual personality. But Disney cancelled it and they were against that character being bi.

As someone who is bi I find it more offensive that instead of making an actual good character who happens to be bi and without making their sexuality the main premise of the character we take something I’ve grown up with and change it to make me feel “included ” it’s honestly more insulting
Black Sails is the last time I've seen "diversity" done right. I could guess the writers politics quite easily. But I can also tell the time and effort they put in actually crafting a very complicated story that made sense from beginning to end. Of course, since they created new characters instead of destroying already existing ones, no one on twitter cared about it.
I truly believe that one of the reasons they decide to change characters instead of you know be creative is to create divisions between people, they know it’ll piss of some people and will incite others to call those angry racist, homophobic yadyadyad. The classic audience of comic books is falling off, dying off, and the new audience doesn't give a crap about comic books. So companies try to pander, in the hopes that they somehow find out what the new audiences like about comic books.
By the looks of it by now, the old audiences are insufficient to keep the industry afloat, and the new audiences mostly care about manga, so the comic book companies are flailing around like a headless chicken, throwing shit at the walls and looking to see what sticks, NOTHING STICKS, but they still have shit to throw for now before they finally give up or go bankrupt.

Batwoman was rebooted and retconned as lesbian since the failed New 52. The true Batwoman was created at early 60's as a rival and love interest for Batman.

The OG character seemed much more interesting as a love interest and rival to Batman. It's like a once you go bi/gay you don't go straight.

The interviewer was speaking to the winner of the race (some guy called Brandon, idk his name as I don't watch NASCAR so this is all second hand info) and you could clearly hear the crowd chanting "F*** Joe Biden" in the background, but the interviewer was trying to spin it as them chanting "Let's go Brandon" instead. As you can see by the meme all over the internet she succeeded, but not in the way she intended...
