    Both are awesome machines but this is an apples to oranges comparison with nearly if not more than a decade of automotive technology differences between the two. I think given the situation and what it was up against the XJ did extremely well and probably had a ton of fun doing this trail...which is what this sport is all about

    The XJ has less lift, smaller tires, and needs to drop tire pressure like the JK obviously has.

    • @alpa74subi
      @alpa74subi  6 років тому +3

      JK and XJ has same tire size, same tire pressure and it has front and rear lockers.

      @@alpa74subi I don't do a lot of four wheeling but wouldn't you want lower pressure in the xj tires to get the same effect as the jk given that the xj is about 600 lbs lighter?

    • @ohsee1346
      @ohsee1346 4 роки тому +1

      The Xj also has leafs in the rear and a shorter wheelbase, not to mention 2.73/1 tcase vs the rubicon 4/1, and full coilovers with air bumps

  • @notamechanic1628
    @notamechanic1628 4 роки тому +1

    I’d bet that Xj has an np231. Low range isn’t quite as low as the jks 4:1 causing more tire spin. Also curious on the gear ratios between the two. Nittos are for sure helping the hook up!

    The xj has a loose nut behind the wheel. A new driver would fix it. He's doing the same stuff that's not working multiple times, not carrying his momentum, not even getting momentum at times when he needs it, poor line choices for his vehicle... basically his data processor is lacking. It's hard to watch at times.

  • @davidbuelow8598

    Yeah, I’m not sure it’s just about ‘tire vs. tire’. I’m seeing other issues like articulation, differential performance and usage (locked vs. unlocked), vehicle weight and center of gravity, a lot of different factors. Although, when I had my ‘98 Cherokee, I had a terrible experience with the stock Goodyear Wranglers, and after switching to the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A’s I never had any troubles at all.

    • @alpa74subi
      @alpa74subi  6 років тому +1

      Yes indeed. Many factors in play.

      And tire load rating. "Lets slap some load range E on this bad boy!" Herp Derp. I ran Maxxis A/T Bravos load C and crawled over everything in my JKu.

  • @sevensinsvelocityshop7563

    Biggest 2 issues I see here is line selection and the tires on that XJ aired down or not have almost no sidewalk flex which would have helped tremendously

  • @tbenzo300
    @tbenzo300 6 років тому +2

    the nittos obviously grab better but isn't there a weight distribution issue also between the two? xj may be more rear heavy

    I bet if the tires were switched, the results would be the same. Not really a fair comparison since the JK has bigger tires, but a very enjoyable video none the less.

    • @DokOps1
      @DokOps1 6 років тому +1

      Oh wow, I stand corrected, they must be worn down as they look the same size as my 35s! His shorter wheelbase didn't help him in this video either.

    • @Snowcrash777
      @Snowcrash777 6 років тому +1

      Wow that's hard to see the difference in tire size or lift. I know the XJ suspension sounds like crap and regardless of tire size the XJ needs to drop pressure. The tires don't give or grip with that much pressure. If they were dropped they needed even less. The XJ tires don't show the sidewall like the JK so that's obvious. I've seen better traction from lesser tires with around 10 lbs of tire pressure. As a matter of fact, I lived in Nevada County near the Rubicon Trail and have seen full-time rock crawlers and tire pressure is key.
