Bro, thank you. During your race you brought in 15 grand, and you played one of the most wholesome and lovely games done quickly. It's one of my more favorite speedruns because alot of the "tech" is not glitchy, it's just part of the game, I'm not a fan of glitches because it doesn't feel as cool as a speedrunner with really good control of the character, and this speedrun shows off that speedrunner's skill really well, much like 2D games typically can, but in a 3D environment where it looks almost magical to watch. Enjoy doesn't begin to describe the tears brought to my eyes. As one of the original backers with my name in the credits, among many others, I am happy to watch other people play this game, always.
Gopefully this gsme becomes a regular at GDQ. The skill ceiling and run potential on this game, not to mention excellent quality of it as a whole, deserves more attention.
I found out about this game from Failboat (who donated during this run lol) and I’ve grown to love it so much. One of my favorite games ever. It’s just so p*cking cute. Absolutely great game, and this run is really cool. Mostly because I can’t tell what’s happening.
10:15 Oh wow, the old strat for skipping contract sucked, this is way better. Glad to see y'all found something easier. 16:30 The story I'd heard when I started practicing this game was that the hole was there for tester skipping but they left it in accidentally. Once they found out they did they just sorta left it there for speedrunners.
So of note this game is inspired by Super Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario Sunshine, with levels showing both inspiration and reference to Metal Gear Solid 2, and Resident Evil. So to say that they "ripped off" SMO is kind of a foolish sentiment, as most of the best games in the world all take inspiration from many other games and refine it into their own idea. It's why Hat in Time was a massive success and a great game... And Yooka Laylee is just a rip off of Banjo Kazooie.
so........ ya glitch the fight via turning self into ice statue and ya insta kill a boss?!.... what the hell.......... also does that work for mafia boss ex?

Flarebear kept asking for silence for audio cues and then talking when Enhu was doing the same part 😂

I'm so happy this game is getting some more love it needs it and it's so great and fun
My favorite thing about speedruns and events like gdq is getting to hear things like. "They added a boop emote and it changed everything"
Yoooo, shoutouts to Failboat for that big peckin' donation!
This made me buy the game. I have absolutely no regrets.
Same
Bought it on switch....man I respect both your skills even more now then I did when I saw this live. Amazing job both of you!
Truly an imPECKable run
06:20 discovered that by myself while doing the 65 seconds on seal the deal came from outer space level
i think its safe to say that this game was really *a hit*
Saw this run live, it was awesome!
Just rewatched this and wow, the run is so different now with hatlag and stuff, hopefully the game will be showed again on the next GDQ!

so i maybe bought the game while watching the speedrun...
BUT HOW DID THEY BEAT IT BEFORE I BOUGHT IT?!!!!
Love how people say this ripped off SMO yet came out first
It's hugely inspired by SM64 though, that's like their main influence. Which is a great thing, legendary games should influence other developers :)
Nobody says that, it's Super Mario Sunshine
Idgaf if this is a rip off or not this is literally the best game I have ever played
It also took 4-5 years to fully create
