Hey, Reuben, another great video. I am considering getting a new high end paddle, like one of the Red's shown here and keeping my Blackfin as a spare. Do you have an opinion on the Blackfin paddle's quality, and where it would stand in the lineup you showed in this video? It feels very similar to my wife's Irocker paddle but I can't find reviews on just those paddles alone without their boards.
Hey Zach. The paddle you have is comparable to the Red Carbon Nylon paddle. I would say the quality is about the same really. If you are looking to upgrade going for a paddle with a carbon or fibreglass blade will give you a lighter paddle and more of a performance gain. Hope that helps Thanks Reuben
Could I ask a question: Whilst I know that carbon-carbon would be the best performing, does the carbon shaft and nylon blade of the carbon-nylon give a similar overall performance than the glass-glass? The glass-glass is dearer, but if they were both the same price, would you still have picked the carbon-nylon as the best value for money or is the glass-glass a better performer?
Hey Nik , Both are good paddles the Glass Glass is a better blade shape and will paddle better then the Nylon blade in the water for sure. But we personally liked the setup with the Lever lock on the Carbon nylon a much more secure system. I believe in some country's the Glass glass is available with a Lever lock too not just a camlock. But if they were both the same price the Glass Glass would be the best paddle for value. The Carbon nylon would still get the top marks for toughest and stiffest paddle though! Hope that helpeds ? Thanks Reuben / SUPboarder
Good review, thanks. A question: Do they all float? In particular the kids' paddle, does it float in any water? I've just lost one kids paddle in the river that sank pretty quickly once my daughter went down, so I'm considering buying the Red paddle, but only if it floats... would also be good to know if the others float as well. Cheers.
Good question. I know in the past some 3 pc paddles did sink and I have lost a few too (not just red paddle co but all brands!) . Red have addressed this with more foam in the paddle. But regs kids paddle. I have a Red kids paddle for my daughter and have never had a problem with it. But I haven't done a full hour float test with it. But I would be happy to recommend it. Thanks Reuben
Hey Liam , we haven't had a closer look at the new range yet, but at the moment they do look the same. You are right the Carbon 100 has lost lever lock. But the Ultimate Carbon still has the lever lock redpaddleco.com/en-gb/product/ultimate-carbon-paddle/ . Sorry I haven't got any more new feedback yet. thanks Reuben

Has there been any changes for the paddles for 2021 ? also when did red stop using lever locks for carbon 100 paddles

Have they boosted the retail prices?! :(
thanks, very good review
Glad it was helpful!
So, did I hear that right??? None of the Red Paddles go beyond 6'2"???
It's been a while since I have watched this video. But if you are a tall paddler they aren't the best paddles out there. Thanks Reuben
