    Interesting… I always had you down as being part of a team of TV scriptwriters. Wishing you continued success with your writing. It’s always nice to learn more about a person, thanks for sharing.

      Oh cool! But no haha, I have written something like five scripts in my life 😅 it didn't end up being a genre for me.

    wow fantastic! I loved learning about this! I read tons and tons of KU books like prob 4 a week so I hope I've supported you on that platform along the way! I have really found books and authors I never would have read otherwise and even new genre I wouldn't have risked trying otherwise! KU gives you the freedom to try new things

      KU is a great option for heavy readers! I know I made great use of it 😁

    Such a helpful and informative video! I’d be so curious how you decided to use pen names and how you went about picking yours. Maybe a question for a future video or IG story 😊

    I’d love tips how to know to spot well written self-published books. I find this really hit and miss and when it’s bad it’s often tough to tell if there is not a free chapter offered. And it’s mostly due to the fact that a decent editor hasn’t gone through. How can you tell if a book is self-published on Amazon in particular? Is it that they don’t sell a hard copy? Things have changed so much often I can’t tell.

      I couldn't tell you how to tell if a book is self published or not, but I would highly recommend the Goodreads app and website. Readers can leave reviews of books, and often discuss the writing quality in reviews without giving away spoilers. It's a great resource to help decide if a book is worth picking up!

    What great information. Can you offer a course in basic book writing. The format ect? Lets talk. What about names, should one use their given name or best to use something different? So cool your write. Thanks for sharing.

      Thank you for watching! I've never really thought about giving a course on how too do it 🤔 I wouldn't know where to start. In regards to names, you could use your given name if you wanted to! But if you didn't want your name "Google able" to be connected to whatever you write, I'd suggest a pen name. I only use pen names.

      @@classicswithaquirk Your so welcome. A book course guide line would be so cool. Just an Idea. Keep up the great work on writing and your YT channel alway great information on bags.

    Thanks, that information is very helpful. I use kindle, I buy books and read the ones thru the platform. I wondered how the author got paid, when I just check out the book. It's like Spotify for books. If someone checks out your book multiple times, do you still get paid, or just the first time? Sometimes I read a book years later, to refresh. My favorite authors I try to buy. I buy a lot of audible books from those favorite authors. I love to listen to books, I have favorite narrators. Glad to see you.

    Very informative and interesting about you and the industry. I am interested in learning to write better. I've always gravitated to writing, but I am not a strong storyteller or great at English like a c+ student. How do I improve? I tried the reading a lot approach... didn't help much

      Really the more you write the better, but getting giving your stories for people to read (and critique) is super helpful. What do your readers like? What do they find confusing? That's the storytelling aspect. READING does things like improve your vocabulary and knowledge on how stories can be constructed.

    very interesting video. I currently have a contract with a large publishing house to write a non fiction book about biblical women's narrative in terms of the ancient near east, Its brutal and requires daily focus to write. Im on it but it's really a lot. of work , You've encouraged me!

    This was so interesting! It did generate another question...I assume the benefit of having different pen names is being able to be completely free from your actual identity. But does that affect your income? Or are you writing in different genres, so there may not be much reader crossover? I am curious about that.

    • @classicswithaquirk
      @classicswithaquirk  2 місяці тому +1

      I write in different genres! So yes, not much crossover at all.
