La matière est mémoire. Les espaces dessinés de Stéphanie Mansy modulent différentes vues, de la plus proche - détails organiques infimes, parfois en creux - à la plus lointaine - paysage. Ressenti de l’intérieur, dans l’acte même de dessiner, le son du contact du crayon avec le support - frotter, gratter, caresser - est ici d’une importance capitale. Car c’est souvent à la percussion ressentie que le dessin se modèle, qu’il résonne et se déploie dans l’espace vide.
Ces expériences au contact des œuvres ont conforté l’artiste dans ses recherches actuelles qui tentent de catalyser le geste - celui qui rend manifeste la matière et son support - et le temps qui l’altère, le mouvement qui le transfère.
La lauréate du Prix Drawing Now sera annoncée lors de l’ouverture de la foire.

Matter is memory. Stéphanie Mansy’s drawn spaces modulate different views, from the closest - minute organic details, sometimes hollowed out - to the most distant - landscape. Felt from within, in the very act of drawing, the sound of the pencil’s contact with the support - rubbing, scratching, caressing - is of paramount importance here. For it is often through the percussion felt that the drawing takes shape, resonates and unfolds in empty space.
These experiences in contact with the works have strengthened the artist in her current research, which seeks to catalyze the gesture - that which makes manifest the material and its support - and the time that alters it, the movement that transfers it.
The winner of the Drawing Now Award will be announced at the opening of the fair.
