Universal Resort is so underrated. The convenience of the hotels is off the charts and the beauty is incredible. The hotels are very expensive but once you stay with front of the line passes it is very hard to go any other way. The swimming pools and pool bars are also top notch. I paid almost as much to stay at the Dolphin in May and really had very limited benefit at the Disney parks. Stay at a Universal premium hotel and you feel special. I would be surprised if I ever stay on site at Disney again when I have the option of Universal.

We're DVC owners, but after new rules by Disney we tried Universal last December. My kids loved Portofino Bay. The Gelato was 😋. They were enamored with City Walk.
Planning on going back to Universal for a second time & literally just booked a room at Portofino Bay. After watching this video I know I made the right choice.

Hi Dev! We’re the family from Dallas that talked to you while you were here. We absolutely LOVE the value that we get from staying on UO property. We loved it so much, that we became Universal Annual Passholders 2 years ago! The experience that we get for what we pay out for a vacation, is much better than down the road on I-4.
We feel the same way! If you can, visit during Mardi Gras and ride a float. APs can make reservations for it. It's super fun!
I stayed there last December for 4 days, it is a great resort and well worth the money.
If you ever stay there, definitely book a bay view room with balcony. You can enjoy the singers from your balcony with some gelato!
My son and his girlfriend are currently at Portofino Bay. My husband and I have stayed several times and will be returning the weekend after Thanksgiving. We stay club level when we stay here and a highly recommend it!
I have stayed at all of the Disney deluxe resorts and this Universal resort is our favorite by far. Add in the free express pass and the fact that I can stay there Club Level for under $400 a night (AP discount) and you just can't beat it. Loved your review.

Stayed at Hard Rock and stayed at Portofino Bay. Totally different vibes both awesome although we preferred Portofino Bay! Can’t beat the proximity and the Express passes!

My first ever time going to Universal was last summer and we stayed at the Portifino. I loved it so much! The pool was so nice and taking the boat to the parks was super easy. Definitely would stay there again.
Beautiful resort. I love that wall at night when returning from a crazy day at the park. It’s so peaceful.
Just left the hard rock hotel had a 7 day stay ,was a great hotel ,and the location and perks are without measure .top top hotel

Never been to Portofino Bay. Done Cabana Bay and Sapphire Falls. We LOVE Sapphire Falls. It's our favorite. Nice to get a look inside it.

Great video!! I didn't know they had a butterfly garden. I agree with you that the garden walk is so nice and quiet. Water taxi is so awesome!! Plus love that you avoid the long security lines.
So my family has stayed twice at Portofino and every Resort except hard rock. Portofino is our favorite one for the sheer luxury level of amenities. We've done suites at portofino sapphire Aventura cabana cabana Bay just about all of them and our favorite room is the Volcano Bay suite at cabana Bay towers. The view of Volcano Bay is SPECIAL. Although you do not get the express pass at cabana Bay. Least favorite was endless summer.
I agree the sweets at cabana Bay were shockingly good especially when you’re overlooking the volcano bay very nice
I’ve stayed at both the Hard Rock and Portofino Bay and I prefer Portofino Bay. Love that hotel. Even if you don’t go to the parks, it feels like you’re in Italy vs Central Florida.

This is where we'll be staying if we go to Universal and it's cheaper than Disney Deluxe hotels, so I'm all for it. The walk looks like the one from Beach club to Hollywood studios. About the same length. Thanks for the review of it!

just got back home on Sunday from staying at Portofino bay hotel and love every minute of my stay the water taxi are great way of getting to the parks and i will be staying there again.

I did stay there with my parents when I was in my early 20’s, I absolutely loved it!! It’s amazing, I would love to take my kids there but slightly out of my price range. We tend to stay at Hard Rock but that’s all of our favorite hotel anyway lol!
Portofino club level is worth it! Free breakfast and happy hour, desserts late night, etc.
Portofino is my forever hotel , nothing compares to it ! My boyfriend always books it for us every year cause it’s our favorite with the food the pools the rooms !

Fun vlog! We are APs and regularly go over to UO after dinner just to walk. Park, go through security, walk to Portifino, walk back to Islands entrance, walk to VooDoo, get a donut. :D The paths always make for a pleasant walk.

I was looking for a nice hotel. Not really specifically theme park "themed" to take my partner on our anniversary. And this is perfectly themed!!!! Very relaxing atmosphere. Loved it 😍

I stayed there for 1 night loved the room and hotel did get to go into tge shop in lobby but would of loved hotel specific merch to take home

My all time favorite in Orlando. Unfortunately not in the budget any longer.
Devin last year we took a water taxi to Portofino Bay to check it out. We were blown away by how awesome it is. When we left it we walked to the Hard Rock Hotel and checked it out as well. I'd love to stay there but I can't afford it.
We stayed in the east wing several years ago. The only thing that I didn't like was the distance from the front desk to our rooms. It was a LONG walk with our luggage.

Dev, if you go back to Portofino’s Piazza at dusk, Opera style singers perform every evening from the balcony. It’s free and so charming!
My favorite resort at Universal is Portofino Bay. Riding the boat back from the park to it seems like I'm actually riding into Vienna.

I ate at bice earlier this year and it’s yummy
If you stay on that west side it's quite the walk to and from the parking garage. It's around a 14 min. walk to the park, right at twice the distance of Hard Rock. Other than that it's very nice. There is also another pool I would consider the "quiet" pool. We just prefer Hard Rock because of the walking distance and because it is just so homey and comfortable to us.
Had to make a second comment: WHAA?? We did not know about 2-4pm large for small gelato! HELLO

We have not stayed at the Portifino but did do a splurge trip a few years back staying on the concierge level at Hard Rock. It was amazing and worth every penny! Make sure to get a record player for your room. :)
Definitely would consider staying at Universal over Disney! Especially at the moment without the perks
I've stayed 3 times at the Portofino. You will love it. I've even heard the opera singers on their balcony. Trust me once you stay here you won't want to stay anywhere else at Universal!
I thought about staying there. The hotel looks beautiful. But the King Suite at the Royal Pacific is bigger then Portofino's. I still like there space. But I hope to try their restaurants.

Really? We did Cabana in Feb and it was horrible. Stained and ripped carpets, broken security gates, housekeeping skipped us all week and management didn’t care.
you should do a video comparing the disney hotels and universal hotels , such as portofino compared to grand floridian price , amenities , services etc . I bet universal comes better rating then any of disney hotels
I was just there in August super nice very big I actually got lost and ended up in the employee garage also at the 23:33 second mark they have a big bell a little bit high up , well I jumped up and rang it I can confirm it rings 😂 it it was very loud also found some area downstairs that spiraled down with a piano they’re at the bottom

By far, we love Universal over Disney. Express passes, water taxi and food options!! Last time I stayed at Disney the resort was nice but zero food options and the hotel smelled like smoke. Also, Disney parks neeeeed to adopt the Universal bands Volcano Bay has. Could you imagine checking in for a ride you just go back to when it’s time vs staying in line at Disney for 2 hours in the heat? Also restaurants are far superior at Orlando with the exception of the Disney $300/meal restaurants with A/C. 😊

I usually wear athletic sneakers! Adidas Boosts, etc.
You can totally use the pools I know ur not supposed to but I used to work there they don't really care :)

I’ll take Universal Premier Resorts over Disney hotels any day. My wife and I visit Universal 2-3 times a year and we always stay at Portofino Bay or the Royal Pacific. Didn’t care for the Hard Rock.
