Ricardo Morales visited Backun Headquarters June 24, 2013 and while he was busy trying Protege Clarinets, Morrie brought him a brand new, right-out-the-box Alpha Clarinet. I think it's safe to say that he liked it!

How much money is this clarinet?
It might be a good clarinet to use for marching band since I don't want to use my R13.

It is great that he can show us that the instrument doesn't seem to get in the way of his dexterity, but wish we could have heard him play some slow stuff too, to really hear the tone even more.

How in tune is the alpha clarinet within the range of the instrument? For ex. low C, middle staff C and high C?

the protégé does sound better(likely expected). but nice sound for a beginner model?
better tone in middle register with moba barrel, better lower register with moba bell.

its funny how back then the alpha was $750, whereas I got mines for around $900. The price is steadily increasing

great but what's the point? all i heard was 4 mins of random 16ths, which while fantastic didnt prove anything. how about playing something slower so we can get a better idea of what the clarinet actually is capable of? what about rachmaninov 2 or tchaikovsky 6??

jtrew dsfwe all i know is his better then u due to the fact that his an expert in clarinets.he has his own way of testing clarinets what makes u comment about his way of testing?

Honestly, anyone can play fast..... I agree with the poster. When ever I play on a new instrument I play long tones because I want to hear the instrument... technique and understanding how the keys feel can be developed.

Ma quanto è utile ripetere...ripetere.. ripetere...sempre una sequenza a cascata di note al fine di provare uno strumento??????

    He cant play slow.

  • @pidekaar

thats pity that he is playing very fast all the time, it doesnt help to understand intonation nuances of the instrument. just slurring all over the place.
