I have been playing the clarinet for 11 years . A good start to know the notes in place fast ( at least faster than me when I was learning that ) . Now try to work on the tone , try to relax your mouth and don’t put to much pressure on the mouthpiece . When you blow air into it , try to open your cavity so the tone will be more intact . When practicing , Try the notes you have learnt and turn them into a scale and practice . After that work on the higher register ones . It’s important that you need to get the basics off and then work on different techniques such as tounging , portamento etc . I’m looking forward to your progress ;)!
I love this i am trying to relearn the clairinet after many years of not playing since highschool i am 67 now and i can't remember alot of the fingering your videos should help me i sound like a beginner and i was self conscious
That's wonderful to hear! I think that you should definitely keep going. I will be extremely happy for you if you do :) If there is anything I can help with (with my own beginner knowledge) please let me know!
I think it depends on your learning style. Adult learners generally know what works for them better than children do, and I know that for me personally, textbooks are very ineffective.
A great way to practice is by playing stuff extremely slowly. It's often more difficult to make a piece sound good when played slowly rather than when played quickly. During auditions for his orchestras, Mozart would get people to play their pieces extremely slowly and if they could maintain a great sound despite the slowness, Mozart considered them good enough for his orchestra. So if you can play it very slowly and still maintain a great tone, you are doing great
lmao that Trump ad at 1:42 It's good to note that you already have an understanding of basic music theory, that makes learning a new instrument much easier since you're only learning the physical skill. Also the ligature is on backwards, the screws should be on your chin side. They always face right.
There shouldn't be any ads on my channel, so I'm confused... Yeah, it took me a bit to figure out that ligature. Good thing I figured it out the next day, or I wouldn't have been able to play this week!
Honestly anyone who is new to a band instrument should check out the UA-cam channel “Dr. Selfridge” I learned the basics of clarinet in a few days, and trumpet in 1 day.
@@gracewallisstudio Day 5 - learn the a scale, get intimidated by listening to Artie Shaw :) Are you 'anchoring' the mouthpiece to your top teeth, not biting but kind of a pivot. And you essentially push the clarinet firmly to your teeth to maintain position?
Grace, just for grins, I'm wondering if you're viewers noticed that you had your ligature on sideways. Disregard that nonsense , I wasn't seeing it right. You were right and I was wrong.
I'm not a pro im still in school but still you have to keep the clarinet pointing down and don't put your head down with it keep your head up and don't blow down into it just act like somebody is infront of you and try to blow really hard at them also posture is alot make sure both feet stay on the ground and sit up straight and don't let your elbows touch your lap that's mainly all of the basics. Also blow big air like your trying to knock somebody down

Something I can highly recommend is a mouthpiece tip guard as they add a lot of grip for your teeth so you don’t move around as much
Thanks! I'd never heard of that before.
I feel like the best learning tool would probably be one of the essential element books. They are used in middle school bands a lot

Awesome video nice to meet you here thank you

Yes, it's a good channel.
This onetime in band camp
Good morning
Please tell me
F sharp you have learne ?
Yes, there are three F sharps available on clarinet. The Clarinet Project has videos which talk about how to play all of them.
me been playing for 2 years and just watching as im bored just me ok...
Same, been playing for 6 years, and watching this just bc 🤷♀️👍
ok Day 1 - got the clarinet together. Day 2 - real clarinet noise is produced. Day 3 - stay tuned....
Day 4 - keep going, and have fun!

Is that a buffet or yamaha?
Jupiter!
I have a school band

Lol on Day 1 I definitely had the ligature on backwards. Good thing I figured it out, because it would be awfully hard to play that way!
hahaha
Don't bite you are choking the sound
Thanks!
Wow ok I have been learning less than 11
Don't press too hard on the keys, otherwise you might bend them
Thanks!
That is true
I can't extract any sound at all from the clarinet 😭😭
It's okay! Keep making little adjustments and maybe relax a little. When you do get a sound, it will give you an amazing feeling of accomplishment.

Also 4:47 is a great posture but if you point the clarinet down and don't move anything else it will be alot easier
It’s so scary she stares into your eyes
Hi medam 👌🎷🎻💞🎶🥁
